Dude no way your x10 will be slower after the update! My idea is that after the update you will get most of the things that you need so there is no benefit of buying another phone, since your phone will do the job very good. This is my opinion and I'm sharing it with you as you are my dear friend.
The shutter sound will still make no sound if you put the phone in silent mode, so no worries at all. Also, the update will only effect the phone memory, therefore all your pics and videos are safe since they are on the memory card.
Don't worry my friend, it's simple and you can do it :)
If I were you I would update my phone and see whether it's good for the job or not. If yes then stay with it, if your still not satisfied that you can buy the BB.
The X10 is one of the most remarkable devices I have experienced, it is really a very reliable phone indeed, it had few problems on 1.6 but after the update it's much better. It's worth a shot Mickey :>

I had the same problem regarding gtalk, no final answer.
E7 is good but I've tried my friends N8 and its almost the same as my n97 menu.
I'll be honest,first of all, I don't really need the update anymore since I am looking at a newer phone,
I am scared to update my x10 for 2 reasons, shutter sound, which cannot be closed by keeping the phone in silent but a specific option, openm the camera, option, advanced settings, shutter sound, and if that option disappears once I get the update I won't be happy, secondly I'd like to save all my pictures in my laptop first, because if something goes wrong and I lose the pictures, I will seriously cry!
I do feel that I am going backwards with the bb torch since I have the x10 when comparing the specs.

Regarding the gtalk question some people said it does such thing, others said that it doesn't. So, Honestly I'm also confused and there is no final answer, at least for me.
I think the E7 is good but the BB is much better for social networking. Most of the people who buy the BB is because the social networking services because they work very well and easy on the device.
Best of luck, although I still believe that if you update your x10 you will find it very handy and useful for your specific needs, trust me the X10 is much better and less problematic after it gets updated ;)

I just can't wait for the psp phone anymore, I will eventually buy it when it will be available after 3 months I think.
I will go see the torch today, I want to see how are the keypad buttons, I think I never want a full touch phone again yet I am still curious about the nexus s just for the gtalk voice chat if its available.
How do u think is the E7, reagarding social networks?

Happy new year dear,
I don't think there will be any MR3 and I think MR2 will be the last update. Also, the X2 has several problems but the major one is that the system sometimes gets slow and the phone sometimes crushes and stops working so you need to restart the phone in order for it to work properly. The phone is good but it still has problems, some people live with them, others can't stand it and regret buying the device, so in the end of the day it depends on you.

If I were you, I would wait for the psp phone, it really seems that it will be a very good phone! And it has a lot to offer, gaming + latest technologies.
So it's better to wait if you can! If you don't want to wait you can buy a BB, I believe it will fulfill most of your needs. I would not recommend the nexus s because soon we will have phones that will blow it away in pieces! The nexus s is not a good option in my point of view, because it lacks a lot of goodies that will be offered by most of the new phones very soon!

Regarding phones, I don't think I can wait for a newer sony phone any longer, but I'll still try to.
Could you suggest me 1 between bb torch and nexus s, The main use of the phone will be for social networks, yahoo, msn, gtalk, facebook.
My current x10 has a great official gtalk messenger but lacks gtalk voice chat through the phone.
Also msn and yahoo messengers aren't official, msn talk and msn live messenging are 2 that I use but certainly sucks because its not the official 1 like gtalk.
I've been told that I can make voice chat through gtalk messengers just like in a laptop with the nexus s which sounds very very exciting to me, is it true? That will be 1 of the reasons I'll be getting the nexus s, also the advantage of getting new updates as soon as its available rather than waiting for 8 months.
About the bb torch, well, if nexus s doesn't provide voice chat through gtalk messenger than I'd rather get the torch.
I also need a full qwerty keyboard like in my n97 which is missing in the nexus s.

Buy xperia x10 mini it's a really good phone for the price, I highly recommend it. The only downside is that the battery drains fast but to be honest most android phones also don't have a good battery.
With the x10 mini you have a small phone that you can enjoy very much! Browsing the internet, playing with many apps and games, the user interface is very simple and friendly. It's a nice phone and if you need a keyboard you you can take the mini pro version.
Htc and samsung also have good phones but the price is much higher, so if you want a good deal this is my professional opinion.
