I got this phone new at the end of December 2022 in white and I love it. Got it on special for €349 next the 10iv had just replaced it and it was the last one they had in stock.

Fantastic phone. Really fantastic. Your have to use it understand. Just looking at specs alone doesn't do it justice. Mind you, the specs are very good if you look closely but the experience is even better.

The last Sony I had was in 2014, the excellent Z2 which was top of the Rebbe back then. Thus 10iii continues that legacy of excellence: beautiful award winning design, top quality materials and build, gorgeous display, full water and dust resistance, NFC, headphone jack, SD card slot, latest WiFi and audio standards, gorilla glass 6 and 2 day battery life.

Plus the software is near stock Android who is excellent and with 6GB RAM it flies. Plus the base storage is a very generous 128GB.

But the best part is the 21:9 form factor: it just fits your hand like a glove. It's so comfortable to hold, slips effortlessly into pockets and holders, stands etc. After using this phone, other phones feel too fat, too broad and easy to drop. Whereas you always have a firm grip on the Sony. Just a perfect size.

I don't think I could ever use a non-xperia again after this.

And if you're reading this in 2023, you can still buy it super cheap, new.. Around €340 its a STEAL!

Would not it be better if they use plastic back & metal frame ?

My first smartphone was the was the last that had Sony Ericsson written on it The Sony Ericsson Arc S. Best feature back then until about 2017 was Sony's own MP3 player app Walkman. Shame Sony gave that.
My last phone was the Xperia XA 2 it worked well enough until a few months ago even it didn't get any updates since 2019. Now I have this phone and I'm happy with it. Okay, I don't play games or stream live Videos a lot,so I don't have the issue that the phone gets hot. The only Google app I still use is Gmail. and Files All others are deactivated and replaced with open source alternatives. Dialer, contacts, Foto and sms with the simple tools apps, YouTube with YouTube vanced browser is Brave and FF nightly. And soi on.. All without the need to root. I like it that Xperia phones come with little bloatware. Off course the Sony support is like always rubbish. And Sony's habit to send out updates without a changelog

kokoshishiaua, 30 Jun 2023Did someone managed to root this? Just unlock bootloader then go to xda for custom roms, twrp & magisk.

Sony is one of the most easy to unlock bootloader & custom rom friendly phones outthere.

The previous update took over a month to be released on my 10 Mark 3. I'm assuming it's a Customized TW version as only this and the Hong Kong version were last to receive it. I can't seem to find anywhere in the menus what customization I have. Only the Regulatory Labels menu shows EU US & TW

All XQ-BT52 models, except those on customized TW and HK, should be able to receive it at this time.

The two critical CVEs described in the Malwarebytes should now be cleared.

I mean, for ex: this expensive "xiaomi 13 ultra's 50 MP, f/1.8, 12mm, 122˚ (ultrawide)" would be any better than sony's 124˚, 16mm (ultrawide) ? i dont think so. but, am i right ? or am i overexaggerating it? because i dont really know them any more in detail..

I have no idea how Sony does this magic ? 27mm wide lens.. 54 mm telephoto lens. and 124˚, 16mm (ultrawide) lens..

the lenses look so tiny.. but i always trust sony's cameras all the way in.. even more than xiaomi's leica lenses with 13mm ultrawide lens.
for ex: xiaomi 13 pro has 14mm, with 115˚ (ultrawide) lens.. i dont know how but i am sure this is not in any way better than sony's 124˚, 16mm (ultrawide) lens..

and even in this xperia 1 IV model

85mm telephoto lens !??! isnt this insane ? 24mm (wide) and 124˚, 16mm (ultrawide) lens..

i dont know what it (85mm) really means.. but I am always confident with sony's camera lenses like they always takes great quality images.. am i over exaggerating or making a mistake ? with this 85mm thing or ultrawide qualification ? can anybody please explain it ?

Thanks for chiming in about this phone, but upon closer inspection I'm gonna go with the Xperia 5 IV. Not only is it eSIM compatible, but it's explicitly stated on the Sony website that the 5 IV is supported by T-Mobile. Per the Sony website:
The following carriers support 5G on the Xperia® PRO I, Xperia 1 III, Xperia 5 III, Xperia 1 IV, and Xperia 5 IV:
Verizon® and T-Mobile® are currently the only U.S. carrier that supports 5G on the Xperia PRO I, Xperia 1 III, and Xperia 5 III.
T-Mobile® and AT&T® support Xperia PRO with only 4G VoLTE.
                                Verizon®, T-Mobile®, and AT&T® support Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV

-Sigh- Gone are the days when we could buy ANY unlocked phone and throw our SIM into it and it would just work. I just wish the 5 IV had cooler color options.

Instead of making all phones work aslong as it has the Bands to connect, they are actually Whitelist or Blacklist a select of phones to work or connect to them! People should wake up & complain about this! It's literally forcing you to buy specific phones that paid them to only work for them!

I don't think this model have e-sim support besides the Japanese variant but only dual-sim which is hybrid, so you either choose 2 sim or 1 sim & sdcard whose max should be upto 1TB.

Thinking of ordering one stateside, T-Mobile. My last Xperia, the XZ1 Compact kept receiving alerts that it didn't support voLTE. Some calls ended up going straight to voicemail even though the phone is on.
Might be a stupid question but Does this model support voLTE? What about eSIM? Also what's the max size microSD supported?
