I said 8K at 30fps is bad that too without HDR (Only Samsung has advertised so much about 8K, I must mention their flagship S20 Ultra). SD can't do 60fps atm. So technology is not yet ready to even record good 8K video. So hold your dreams and pyants until tech is ready.
Even if you record, how will you share such large files?? Over bluetooth or wifi?? Doesn't make sense. Even if you share, where will you watch it?? On your 3k QHD screen or 4k tvs??? Forget about 8K, How many people use 4K TVs this day?? 4K recording is not even famous and people like yuo fall for gimmicks like ugly 8K 30fps.

Take your love for samsung in samsung threads. Don't comment here.

PS: It is funny how you ignored the other two answers for 960fps slowmo and slim design at the expense of battery size.

        Mirrorless is a coined name for a DSLR with a viewfinder screen and added software.
        Any standalone camera with a digital sensor is DSLR.
        Calling a DSLR as mirrorless would be a mistake, calling mirrorless as DSLR is not a mistake.
        I also said it is like a DSLR Alpha, not that it is a DSLR. Yes, I would be more correct to say its the closest thing to a mirrorless on a phone, due exactly to a viewfinder and the software PhotoPro app.
        The subject of naming is so trivial, I really see no reason for you to get triggered and act in such an insulting and patronizing way.

          Phones get thick when it has a large battery.
          This one has 18,000mah. So it takes 4.5hrs to fully charge with 18w fast charging.
          But you cant buy it.

            Every device with IMX 686 does 8k recording. LG gives full manual mode in 8k too.

            Plenty of devices with huge battery and are comfortable and portable to hold.
            You can justify small weak batteries and unnecessarily thin phones.

              - 8K 30fps is very ugly and is proved on S20 Ultra. If you read the interview by kishida, he clearly explained why it is bs to bring 8K to mobiles today. Record,share and play. If you can't do these 3 atm, it is useless feature. There exists not many 4K TVs and monitors yet, and people are craving for 8K. Non-sense. Even 5G for people who changes mobile every 2 years is useless atm.

              - Premium means it should be slim,sexc and lightweight. You can buy 10,000mah mobile with dslr lens, but that's not premium. Mobiles should be portable and comfortable in hands and pockets. I still hate Phablets like Note+ series. They are not mobiles imho.

              PS: Probably Xperia 1 II will be the only slimmest, pragmatic and light weight flagship of 2020 with alpha centric camera features, 4K HDR display, headphone jack, microsd and 4000mah. These are basic features unlike refresh rates and higher megapixels.

                the more i read comments in here, i felt like i live in different universe...in my universe, i'm pretty sure the pandemic still not over and the global economy already prepared for recessions but hey, who could wait to spend $1200 for latest flagship smartphone to be on the market for another few weeks/months? clearly nobody based on this forum

It seems to me that they don't really know what they want just something new. If you really wanted a Xperia 1 ii but got tired of waiting, surely you would then decide on something that was at least similar to the xperia,. But an iPhone because the camera is good. Seriously? Is the os not more important?

                      Sony Xperia 1 II is still 7.6 mm. Not a huge difference compared to other devices
                      Most of the 2020 sensors can be easily fitted under 8.5mm devices.
                      Besides, Most people use a case to protect the glass sandwich design(since glass breaks) on modern phones. The case evens out camera bumps.

                      Don't care about device thickness, I'd rather take bigger sensor camera, bigger 6000mAh battery and proper vapor cooling system over thin phones.

When then Xperia will be released it will be at a very high price, while the other phones are already dropping in price and new phones are announced. So every person who doesn't need something only this phone has or is part of the (compared to other manufacturers small) fan base will buy another phone. And that's not the way to go if you want to attract new customers.

There are already people who have bought another phone because they didn't want to wait for so long (even until now we still don't know how long it actually will be). And even among the people who want the Xperia for one of it's features will be many asking themselves if it's really worth the wait.
                            Also there are people who need a new phone for various reasons. Like in my case, after nearly 4 years the battery of my phone is almost dead, I need to charge it 3 to 4 times a day (2 times at the time of the announcement) and still there is no release date in sight. Not many people have the patience to wait that long for a phone.

                            You can see it from the sales of Sony, today they released an overview of the first part of 2020. Until now they sold around 400.000 phones, Samsung for example sold the same amount in just a few weeks.

It doesn't affect the quality of the product. It's not a perishable item like food, where it gets expired. If people are set and already made a decision to buy the phone. It doesn't matter if it's delayed. We'll still buy them when it's available. They don't magically lose sales because we decided not to buy them just because it's delayed. The only impact to the business is just delays in revenue. That hardly means failure.

                                    Logistics are all impacted here thanks to COVID-19. Sony always announce ahead of the general availability. For what? So we can plan our purchases accordingly, set up the right budget, save enough money, etc. If they announce a new phone and suddenly it arrives on the market, it's taken everyone by surprise, eventually people go to credit card debt. Not to mention that regulation and rumours start popping out early while they do their certification, logistics, etc. It's better to go ahead and make an official announcement to everyone what to expect from their phones, before rumours start to circulate with assumptions and false information.

                                    Everyone these days should just slow down and learn patience.. Instead of feeling that everything needs to be rushed and get their hands on as quickly as possible for prestige or social media likes.

Make sure to buy f... moreI think some retailers (private small-medium business ones, not big corporate ones) tend to import some phones that big corporate companies don't sell. Perhaps, you have better luck there. That's how I usually get my Sony Phones where the actual Sony retailer stop selling them. It's sad, but it's the truth. But you're getting the same quality phones as everywhere else in the world. As long as the retailer is a reputable ones, and not the ones who sell chinese knockoff. (Or at least, they admit to sell you knockoffs).

Make sure to buy from reputable reseller. Try to buy from a location where your country's currency (Philippine peso) is worth more than (or equal to) where the seller is located. You can save a bit of money this way (you have to pay for import taxes anyways)
