I hope it will be good as it is on the specs sheet. Bigger battery is what I been waiting for. And zeiss optics should add refinement for pictures. Also the speed of this think will be crazy.

Anonymous, 10 May 2020Unfortunately a lot of people just like high numbers. ... moreLarge numbers... right.
Selling PR mumbo.
What use is a big number 5000 maH battery if it will be 3500 maH in a year of big number 40W fast charge? Or some 4000 maH in a year of 25-30 W fast charge?
20% battery degradation is acclaimed level for battery replacement, as from that level it degrades rapidly....
Its "buy big now, so you are forced to buy big again next year" marketing psychology. In the long run, it turns out to actually be more expensive.
Reviewers should be more honest and always mention these facts while Woowing these big numbers, so readers could make a more objective buying decision.
About OLED screens shortcommings also, along with all the woowing about big numbers brightness in reviews, as people get frustrated with burn ins and color degradation after one year, and some even in less time of use.
I checked quality of them main 64 mpx sensors to 12 mpx sensors also. Detail level in everyday use is the same, as them 64 mpx ones downscale to 12 mpx, just to be usable, cause full res 64 mpx shots are just too big files and take too much time to process. Sonys old 24 mpx one was always criticized as being slower than competitive ones, with no real gain to justify it, but was at least fast enough to still be usable on a phone.
I dont see the reasoning in using those big mpx number on mobile sensor level, other than sales big numbers PR also.

Anonymous, 09 May 2020IMX 555 & 557 have similar size. My original comment... moreWhen did i mention s20 ultra or +. IMX555 and 557 are different sizes. Do you know the difference between sensor size and pixel sensor size?? Don't confuse yourself. Each pixel on sensor for X1 II is larger than any other smartphone. You're again talking about pixel binning technology. S20, S20+, OP8 pro everything with higher megapixels use pixel-binning. Read facts before triggering.

Arpegius, 09 May 2020For those defending fast charging:
https://www.neowin.ne... moreMy 3 yr old qnovo/batterycare Xperia has only 10% battery degradation, with over 1000 charge cycles of use.
Was asked to check it after some guy owning Huawei device asked me, who claimed his battery was 12% degraded after only 1,5 yr of use.
So obviously, fast charge of any level, but without batterycare tech, degrades battery for at least 50% more.
Fortuately all Xperias have BatteryCare, some LG devices use qnovo also.... but thats about it.

Arpegius, 09 May 2020For those defending fast charging:
https://www.neowin.ne... moreA way to limit charging speed is by using a lower wattage charger. Wattage lower than 15w will prolong the battery life. Gotta make sure these expensive phones last 4 years (or longer).
Charging Oppo everyday with 40w will probably last 2-3 years. The battery has to be charge multiple times a day as it loses capacity, further degrading the battery. (and capacity)
It is like they are treating the phone as a disposable.
If you are a student, and you spent $1200 on a laptop. Do you keep that same laptop for many years? Don't you want it to last you a long time?
EDIT: The VAIO (used to be mine) that I gave to my mother is about 7 years old now. It still runs great, (it got bit faster switching to SSD)

People who are commenting 8+FRC as an 8bit should read this. True 10 bit or software 10 bit, both means 1 billion colours. That's what 10 bit actually means.
"Unfortunately the level of control of the polarizing crystals isn't quite enough to give 1024 orientations between 0 and 90 degrees. So panels use FRC to create in-between shades.. (Older panels couldn't even do 256 orientations., leading to 6-bit + FRC) . Using 8bit + FRC as an example, you want to produce 1024 shades but the panel can only orient the crystals to produce 256 shades. e.g. Shade 0, shade 4, shade 8, etc. If the pixel is supposed to display shade 401, but the panel can only produce 400 and 404, what you do is rapidly shift the pixel between 400 and 404.
You show 400 75% of the time, and 404 25% of the time (hence the F in FRC - frequency). This produces the illusion of the pixel showing shade 401. If it were showing shade 400 and 404 50% of the time, it'd produce the illusion of shade 402. If it were showing shade 400 25% of the time and 404 75% of the time, that would be shade 403.
Since the vast majority of images and movies available are encoded with 8-bit color, they would display the same on both monitors. Unless you're working with photos or video shot with 10-bit or higher color depth, there really isn't any reason to prefer true 10-bit over 8-bit + FRC. And even then most people would be hard-pressed to see the difference."

"The Xperia 1 II has a 10-bit equivalent display (8-bit with 2-bit smoothing) that can display a myriad of colors without banding."
so, technically, it's still an 8 bit.
