[deleted post]They could have if they wanted, but is useless without possibility of having 4K and 120Hz same time.

People interested in Xperia 4K do not want QHD nor FHD.
Pointeless to have QHD 120Hz if none wants to use QHD.
Why would someone buy Xperia 1 over Xperia 5? To use 4K.

Did you read about the fact the 120Hz modes decrease battery life by 20-30% ?
Most used app on Earth is Chrome.
If I can browse for 11h for example, why would I accept to be allowed to browse just 7h ?

Easy to find on internet S20 users that battery is s*** on 120 compared to 60.
Same will happen to OnePlus 8 Pro.

Anonymous, 24 Apr 2020"B+ and A are good scores. Good is all we need. Its a sma... moreYeah I know you are discussing about the best smartphone display, but most of the reviews are a bit biased and a bit inaccurate. In statistics, a larger sample size is necessary for better accuracy. The reviews shouldn't be based on data from a single unit. (Not all phones are created equal)

I never really liked OLED anyways. The pentile pixel arrangement makes the display quality appear less sharp than LCD. So higher pixel density, like Xperia 1 and 1II is needed to increase sharpness.

Displayport alt mode with charging (battery drains quickly without charging) Type c cable is not reversible (logo facing up)
Note: Xperia 1 and Xperia 1II both support DP Alt mode, using this adapter on phones that don't support it (like XZP) will not work. you will also need a keyboard, mouse, (Bluetooth recommended) and a display

The desktop mode is more like a tablet with windows than actual desktop. But you can open up a bunch of apps and use them simultaneously. I can have youtube playing while researching on chrome browser and have messaging app in the corner. Its kinda like a Chromebook, just more like a tablet.

I like way Samsung designed their desktop mode on the Samsung Dex.

Its a smartphone screen. Why does it have to be perfect?"

            >>> You are not following the discussion. I was replying to the guy that claimed its the "best", not just good.

IPhone 11 pro Max, galaxy s10, ROG 2 all ahead of Xperia 1 display.
The above fact is confirmed by multiple professional review sites.
This doesn't mean that it's a bad display. It's good, but not the "best" and "perfect" as some delusional guys over here think.

There's not much we can do to change things. We just gonna have to accept the consequences of accepting technological progress.

Telephone, 23 Apr 2020I used to have 32gb of ram in my PC now I have 16gb with ... moreyea exactly, it's kinda useless on smartphone. running full desktop pc, yea i get it, some people really need more ram, running a server, virtual machine, open up a bunch of power hungry apps in the same time with their awesome 3-4 screens setup, edit/render most likely used up vram than system ram, since i assume people going to buy dedicated vga in the first place if they would ended up spending time with rendering. but more ram capacity on smartphone? running a mobile os, mobile apps... it's just pure nonsense. i agree with you, ram speed way more benefited than capacity at this stage

wow i was totally forgot about docked mode.do they still offering that? last time i checked it's more like a tablet view, rather than having desktop feature such as multiple windows, file explorer, etc

why people want to watch 4k/8k content on 6 inches screen? is that really that much of the differences? is it really worth trade that awesome visual experience for lesser battery life?

Why do you think Sony and Samsung are putting so much money on microLED?

Also Xperia is the only mobile to provide accurate colours at any brigthness level. Reason why brightness is limited. In any case, who watches videos or images directly under the sun???

Anonymous, 24 Apr 2020Here's Xda giving your Xperia display a solid B+ while s10 ... moreRead another review, you will find another score. You also find videos in youtube, especially by japanese, that X1 indeed has the best Delta values and more accurate on any brightness level than other mobiles. I would suggest you to look on overall reviews in the internet, not just one who has bad set up. XDA clearly says they did not get 6500 on X1 while some got 6500 in the internet, read comments. So to me, the result is useless if calibration is not consistent. I go with the max capability of the screen Sony provides and I trust japanese more than these reviewers. Not to forget how DXO stopped giving high scores to sony camera as soon as Sony stopped sponsoring them.

Also, according to the link you provided. The Xperia 1 display is manufactured by Samsung display co. S10 also uses Samsung display, They both use the same active matrix tech. They are just a little different in their own ways. They are both good screens and that's all that matters, Screens are always a lottery, they are all slightly different. The sample size is also too small.

Having the perfect display only matters when you are spending over $500 (or even a thousand for professionals) on a computer monitor. But then, there are no OLED monitors besides that one from Asus.

This is actually a poor article, they deduct big points for small calibration errors (which have been fixed by software) and forget to add points for hardware. Which even they say is excellent. They complain that the 4k only works on certain applications. Surely if something works the same as every other phone 75% of the time but the other 25% is better. It shouldn't get complaints
