Xperia have never been done by Foxconn.

In Latin America, Xperia done by local companies.
But for Asia and Europe, the phones are made at Sony factories.
They are made in Thailand Sony factory.

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2020Every company engages in marketing but saying that OnePlus,... moreLets say you produce a product which is great and is better than similar products offered by others. But you decided not to advertise it at all. The others even with their not so good product decided to advertise. Now you tell me will people even consider a product which they have not heard of or know how good it is or purchase the product which they have already heard of and know what to expect. That is simple logic and that is how it works. Let me tell you we are arguing here that one is better over other, but only 20-25% or even less really care and do proper research before purchasing goods. 75-80% consumers depend on what they in general media then check online what is being offered and purchase it blindly without considering different options. Over that you expect them to research of a product of which they have no idea of its existence. Think practically. People mostly blindly rely on brand name. I have many in family and friends who used to purchase SAMSUNG blindly because of its brand name, once I introduced them to SONY or even OnePlus they questioned themselves for purchasing SAMSUNG again and again when the device failed in short period of time.

Smithravi, 12 Apr 2020Of course. Ferrari or Lamborghini are never sold more than ... moreFerrari and Lamborghini though they sell less, they still aren't losing money in the automobile industry and their marketshare has remained the same while Sony is losing money in mobile industry by incurring record losses and a sharp decline in marketshare compared to 5 years back.

Only brain dead Sony brand boys consider it a premium device.
Last time I heard, Samsung, Huawei and Apple were dominating the premium segment.
And you know who got into that circle? OnePlus, a chinese brand that you hate so much.

Vineet Reddy, 12 Apr 2020If you really think they are not marketing then I guess you... moreEvery company engages in marketing but saying that OnePlus, Xiaomi, Realme got popular coz of marketing only is bull****. They got popular CoZ they provided great products at affordable prices. Sony provides good phones but the price steers them away towards other brands.

I live in India, here ppl buy value for money products. Nothing to do with marketing.
Sony has even stopped selling flasghips here.

I don't know if this is relevant enough to you guys. But there's a topic that I'm interested in learning more about. It may help clear up questions regarding current phone prices in the competitive phone market.

So FOXCONN is a well known (I hope you know) company that provides electronics manufacturing services for big companies around the world. They manufacture PlayStation 3 4, APPLE iPhones, eyePads, and Xbox.
I've read in the past (6yrs ago) that Foxconn also manufactured XPERIA phones for Sony. And I'm wondering if they are manufacturing the recent Sony X1 and X1 II.
I'm also curious to know who manufactures the cheaper flagships.

Does it matter who manufactures your phone? (the company that executes, not the company that designs)

Gganso, 12 Apr 2020"Sony is not everyone"; maybe this fact is too hard for tro... moreYeah. Probably SONY realized that with their crap marketing they cannot sell or push out huge number of units and decided to make it more unique and exclusive by pricing it that high. But back when SONY did know how to advertise their products it outsold SAMSUNG and HTC in flagship category 2013-2014 in India.

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2020Correction The OLED doesn't use Quantum dot technology. ... moreThat is the sad part. Even-though TRILUMINOS was enabled by Quantum-dot implementation, the term TRILUMINOS was never coined in reference to Quantum-dot tech it was coined in reference to superior color coverage and that is how it was advertised. Because of that majority of people don't know that SONY implemented Quantum-dot technology. It being unrelated to Quantum-dot tech the way SONY advertises it, it can be used for OLED as well and has been used in advertising of all OLED TVs launched by SONY till date.

[deleted post]Oh, I forgot to add this
Back in the day, when i was using a flip phone, my dum bass thought it was a good idea to get one of the highest megapixel phone (flip phone) around that time. It was a HUGE mistake. It was a flip phone (FUJISTU F01B) on steroids, touch screen, waterproof* fingerprint reader, and 12.2 MEGAPIXELS.
                    Guess what
                    That camera was TRASH
The processor couldn't even handle all that EXTRA EXTRA data. Well over 10 seconds per shot. The only thing that worked well on that thing was the fingerprint reader.

Now I wonder how many consecutive focused shots can you take with a 48MP phone camera. I know Xperia 1 II can execute alot better and quicker. (i never actually seen it preform yet, but I'm sure it can do it)

                      [deleted post]Megapixels if for marketing
All we need is high quality sensors that captures accurate photos.
Not sensors that pickup unnecessary noise and artifacts that end up eating storage space.
                      12MP is more than enough

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2020Sony website does not mention Triluminos for 1 ii and 1. ... moreI have to say, XZ3 with triluminous was also mistake on Sony's page. I couldn't check sony mobile USA, but I checked Sony UK and it does say it in the specs section.
But nowhere in the overview is it advertised.
                        https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/smartphones/xperia-xz3

It must have been a Copy Paste mistake. (probably was copied from xz2 and forgot to remove)
It just doesn't make any sense to put Quantum dot in a OLED. It just doesn't work.

The BT2020 OLED is superior to Triluminous anyways. So I'll just stop talking about the tech and move on. (Sorry guys)

All other brands are stuck at DCI-P3, since xz2 all xperia high end are beyond and reach BT2020.

When review is out , i bet haters will make it have more than 1000 comments.
All cons pointed for 1 are fixed (except battery that we do not know impact of 5G on this phone).

Just curious if haters will demand gsma staff to reduce score like they did last year. Because they do not accept any other brand to earn more than samsung and huawei.

The OLED doesn't use Quantum dot technology.
(GSMARENA mistakenly put triluminos on xperia 1 spec sheet)

Triluminos is a real hardware tech. Its a film between LED backlight and the LCD panel.
White LEDs are actually blue LEDs with yellow phosphor coated on top. (look at the flash LED on your phone, its yellow) Even though white LEDs appear white, they only cover a good portion of the light spectrum. Quantum dot works similarly to yellow phosphor but instead of emitting yellow light, it emits a wider spectrum of green and red light. In my opinion, the best LCD screen I've ever seen on a smartphone would be XPERIA XZ premium.

                                This part is to everyone

Pixel density matters alot for OLED in my opinion, When I look at a less pixel dense phone, I can see lines of light around straight lines (such as squares) it would be green on the sides, blue on the bottom, and red on top. To me, that was an eyesore to look at. In fact, I avoided OLED phones up until I got XPERIA 1. That phone has a very nice screen, and I looking forward to seeing this display on the Mark II. (I'm totally fine with it being the exact same display as the XPERIA 1)

Thanks to fools who don't even know how to do proper marketing other brands take the credit. Majority of people around the world think SAMSUNG introduced Quantum-Dot technology and LG introduced OLED technology, they don't know that SONY was the first to implement them into production way before SAMSUNG and LG did same goes for Mini-LED and Micro-LED SONY was again the first to implement them into production . Same goes for all the departments let it be Smartphone, Audio or even Camera(Camera department is only area where I think they are doing better with marketing of their features).

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2020Haha you are completely triggered and all over the place. ... moreSo you agreed that 120 Hz is unlockable on existing Sony smartphones. So you answered your own answer. Refresh rate doesn't cost extra money :). It is all matter of compromises and preferences. Sony is more practical than any other smartphone including Apple.
Also don't just answer one point, you argued over other points, respond for them too. Shall copy and post my answer again so that your lazy brain can read??

"Did you just say samsung is giving you 3k with 120Hz??? Or are you just being tricked by Samsung???

Do you realize that refresh rate doesn't add extra cost as much as rams do. Sony did have locked 120Hz on their previous mobiles, you just have to root/ play with software and unlock it. Just google it. I'm tired of spoon feeding. Personally I don't play with notification bar or scroll twitter 24/7, 120Hz is not a big deal for me. Also it requires huge battery, adds extra weight, makes phone bulky, lot of compromises here. I'm glad Sony blocks these extra refresh rates on their mobiles with software. If I want to play games (if u argue 120Hz is good for heavy games), I would buy a gaming mobile with coolant and bigger battery like ROG II rather than premium flagships which should be thin and light. Remember SONY Xperia 1 II is the slimmest and lightest of all flagships.

Oh yeah, did oppo or real me have Water proof IP65/68??? Did these chinese mobiles have dual front end speakers???
                                      or 4K HDR display??
or Colour accuracy that can meet BT.2020
                                      or 4K HDR recording??
or 10 bit HDR. HDR HDR HDR.. Get it to your brain ok??
                                      or Legendary Zeiss lens
or God tier 20 fps AF/AE with Eye AF
                                      or Headphone jack
                                      or 360 degree audio function
                                      or Motionblur reduction (90Hz equivalent)
or Sexy design without ugly notches and punchholes (+ fits good in one hand)
                                      or 21:9 cinemawide display??

                                      Lemme tell your answer. NOOOOOOO!
So stop crying over SONY on price.

Coming to design, Sony has the best design. They look premium in hands. 9/10 people ask me when I use Sony mobile in public. It is unique, sexy and handsome unlike 1000+ similar mobiles in the market. I personally don't like the round shape corners or bulky mobiles. They are just ugly. Look at Sasmung/ apple or even these chinese mobiles. They are ugly.

PS: Sony has been winning IF design awards and Red Dot design awards in flagship segment. Glad that even tech guys from design agree with me. No one is forcing you to buy handsome Sony Xperia. You can keep your ugly mobile with yourself."

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2020Sony will never sell more than Chinese flagship. Sony will... moreOf course. Ferrari or Lamborghini are never sold more than VW polo. Anyone with common sense knows that the target audience is different. Sony is not for everyone. It is a premium flagship smartphone. One that chinese mobiles can never be :)
