The perfect phone. But, the price... :(

AnonD-921183, 15 Mar 2020If SD865 can't handle 20 fps AE/AF how do you think sony di... moreOf course.
Pumping up basic specs does not make sense.
    But most customers are unreasonable.
You ll be hearing nonsense like "this phone is better cause it has 12/16 gb of ram, and 512 gb rom".
Even 6 gb ram is more than enough for android in forseable future, and havent yet heard or seen any smartphone user using up even 128 gb rom, let alone 256, and certainly not 512 gb....
Dont wanna even go into stuff like 108 mpx sensor nonsense.
But some companies loose their edge in innovating, so if one has nothing new to offer, you go the way of spec pump up to have a sell point, or to reach at least what newest SoC offers by defaults, like 8k video recording, which doesnt have standard application support in foreseable future.
So yes, one could say its all gimmicks for sales PR.

[deleted post]Please stop comparing samsung with sony. Sony is much better than Samsung, has better OS (cleaner than Samsung's UI or what ever it calls)
Normal people don't dream about Samsung. It even sounds wrong

Tann Hauser, 14 Mar 2020Well you cant do 20 AF/AE or 60 AE calculations per sec on ... moreIf SD865 can't handle 20 fps AE/AF how do you think sony did ?? Don'T you think 16GB on a mobile device is overkill?? It doesn't even makes sense. Who will do multitasking on mobile devices??? It only increases the total cost. It's not even an innovation. WHO is asking mobile companies to announce mobile each year?? why not once in 2-3 years. Also you must remember sony uses 4k HDR OLED panel. Even 90Hz will kill the battery like hell. Thanks to Sony for bringing soft´ware emulated 90Hz.
Of course at the end everyone wants to sell their own products but what Samsung is doing is unnecessary upgrades with little tweaks but at higher price is nonsense. My laptop has 8GB ram and I can open 60 chrome tabs :) Most games like pubg, COD doesn't even take more than 2GB. Samsung has poor ram management unlike Apple or Sony

Anonymous, 15 Mar 2020More explosions of note 7 than all xperia made since 2008. ... moreThis is a Sony forum. Please take your Samsung complaints to a Samsung forum. We're not interested. I come here to read about Sony's latest flagship. Sony has had its major problems in the past also, but who cares as its 2020 now.

Anonymous, 15 Mar 2020They sold part of division, not entirely. 100% of Sony battery division was sold to Murata in September 2017.

Samsung copies sony cmos, Qled is copy of Triluminos, Samsung still uses microUSB in 2020, they are using microLed years after Sony showcased at CES.

Qualcomm turns to Samsung because they huge production capacity, not because they think they are best than TSMC.

Samsung Mobile have many times higher budget to create new phones. Still they cant do devices many times better than other brands.
S10 Lite with plastic and no IP rating, what a failure. Only Ultra has GG6 on both sides. Their HM1 performs worse than Imx555 despite being almost 2x the size.

I'm currently using XZ Premium, one's of few Sony phones' that listed into the legendary list and as well one of Sony's first phone with the 960fps Super-Slow Mo. And boy, that feature did paved way very much in the smartphone industries, now even 60-70% mid-ranger got it as a feature, though using interpolation instead of DRAM.

And hopefully by the time I can replace my XZP with X 1 II in the future, I can settle "possibly" the lost of 960fps for another better features I eagerly want to touch as long-timer of Sony fans, such as, Real Time Eye AF, 20fps AF/AE Continuous burst, and what you said, the 2K 120fps (improvement over HD 120fps on previous Xperias before the introduction of 960fps in smartphone scenery)

Denis Thomas, 15 Mar 2020What? ARM is making the processors, and pass their technolo... moreSamsung has and is still building plenty of chips for Qualcomm. E.g. Snapdragon…810, 820, 835, 845, plus numerous current mid ranger chips, e.g. 665, 730

Samsung is also building the 5G chipsets for Qualcomm

                              https://www.fool.com/investing/2019/04/15/samsung-is-still-building-plenty-of-chips-for-qual.aspx

BTW, I don’t own a Sony, Samsung, LG, Huaweii, Iphone. I leave all the fanboyism to folks like you. I prefer lesser known brands, just to be different.

TheGoldenMellifluous, 15 Mar 2020Well, even you're not happy with 960fps Super Slow-Mo Recor... moreIt is a good feature that Sony paved the way.
It would be a shame if X1 mark II didnt have it, as even qualcomm got in train with it now, so I see no reason not using what the SoC itself offers, sans the need of memory stacked sensor anymore.

Maybe it has it, just is not a marketing feat anymore.

But anyways, 120 fps at 2K is here, so in comes new feature which is also great.
Sony is Sony... always trying and making something new and different

Anonymous, 14 Mar 2020Finally they remove the most useless feature in smartphone ... moreWell, even you're not happy with 960fps Super Slow-Mo Recording existence in the first place, at least in great measure of Sony fans have already missed the features very much after the removal in Xperia 5, despite possibly only using the 960fps for some difficult or perfect situations. Besides, XZ Premium/XZs are the phones that bring the feature in to smartphones from RX100 IV and the former (XZP), where most Sony phones have agreed and regarded the best Sony phone ever produced since Z3, so the features grow on them quickly, and it did became popular, making Samsung, Huawei even OnePlus phones adopted the feature.

Sure, not all the time, but 960fps can be handy when 240fps or 120fps can't do the task at point. I'm one of them. Not all the time I used the 960fps, but once I used it, it's pure entertainment, even sometimes useful and handy.

Anonymous, 14 Mar 2020Imx555 , imx563, ToF , battery are in-house. Do not forget... moreSony sold its battery division about 2 years ago to Murata. Google it.

So, Sony now outsources for batteries also. The reason was due to numerous ongoing exploding battery law suits from 2006 to 2019.
Dell, HP, Toshiba etc used Sony batteries in various products, including laptops. There was approx 14 Million Sony batteries recalled.

Google "exploding Sony batteries" as there are hundreds of links. And yes, Samsung had a minor battery/product recall a few years back...But, I don't care about Samsung, although you Sony admirers are very jealous of Samsung.

[deleted post]where is the sequel already?!
Get to work, do something productive. Here, the guy and you can be the main characters. One will be saying "Samsung is making Sony screens buaaaah" and the other will reply with "Bony experia bad"

Come on.. XD entertain us hahahahahaha

Tominson, 14 Mar 2020You have just described what Sony does also....e.g., Sony b... moreWhat? ARM is making the processors, and pass their technology to smartphone manufacturers.
Sony, Samsung and every smartphone makes who is using Qualcomm socs, is using technology made by ARM. Samsung only assisted Qualcomm in the reduction of the socs size. They never made them.
Samsung is also using the same technology that Qualcomm is using, to make their own exynos socs. Therefore Samsung has their socs, and Qualcomm has their socs.

As for the screens made by others, last time I checked everyone is buying Sony sensors for their phones, including Samsung. Their 108mp sensor was a disaster. In full resolution, the final output is a blurry mess. By defeat they are 12mp photos.
The whole marketing for the 100x zoom is also a blurry mess. Anything above 30x from that camera is a blurry mess, not worth showing off.

So as you can see, everyone is sharing technology among smartphone makers. So are you saying they should stop? If they do, I wonder what is your favourite Samsung is going to do without Google and android.

You trolls are so dumb, you should invest on making a sequel for "The Dumb and Dumber".
