Previously SONY had to switch the resolution down to FHD from 4K to save battery. But now with this 4000mAh battery it will be sufficient to drive it through out the day no problem.

Fearghast, 08 Mar 2020It's gimmick because it's "interpolated" 90Hz.It's confusing, because it says "Motion Blur Reduction" on their website spec sheet.

Tann Hauser, 08 Mar 2020So... I guess what you re trying to say is:
if 90 hz soa... moreYay, they're only listing the negatives of black frame insertion.
If that was the case, then all TV manufactures wouldn't put it in anymore - but that's not true as it does in FACT improve motion.
Also, Soap Opera effect is per person basis, it doesn't affect everyone. There are shouldn't be any artefacts as it's basically turning on and off a pixel and not interpolation - draw back is decreased brightness.
Input lag - that's independent of BFI and based on the display controllers and not the panel.

I feel like the hard chambered edges will be uncomfortable to hold, unlike the round sides of the previous generation.

if 90 hz soap opera effect is PR trash talk,
then deductively, 120 hz super soap opera effect must unavoidably be super duper PR trash talk?
Well, I must say, I absolutely agree with your observations.

Better no 90Hz interpolation than this, we all know how this thing looks in reality, soap opera effects, artefacts, inputlag, etc.
But it's Sony, nobody is expecting they wont mess something up, right?

Fearghast, 08 Mar 2020That does not even makes sense. There is a reason that even in TVs or PC Monitors were not pushing 120/144Hz until recent times whereas there are many 1440p and 1080p monitors going 120/144Hz since almost a decade.

I seriously don't get why people are so upset about it being 90Hz enabled through software processing instead of 120Hz. That is a 4K 21:9 display. Implementing 120Hz or even 90Hz on that high resolution is extremely taxing on hardware and also effects greatly on battery drain. 4K@90Hz through software processing as is is taxing but through balanced distribution of processing between CPU and GPU it is comparatively less taxing. To be honest getting any kind of 90Hz implementation at that high resolution should be extremely satisfactory. To make it clear, this phone is not catered towards competitive gamers. If you really care for competitive gaming I highly recommend waiting for ROG Phone 3. Xiaomi is going to launch Black Shark 3 but I recommend waiting for ROG Phone 3 as previous model from that series was exceptional package.

Yall just ignorant. Quit complaining about display resolution. 1080p, 2160p, 4k, 10k resolution looks almost the same with naked eyes on a small display. Unless u put 2 phones side by side. So annoying.
