Way too many typical Sony compromises.

You probably have a problem with definition of the term "fact".

My wishes for Xperia 1 Mark iii:

6.7" 4K OLED IGZO (Sony needs to switch from Samsung panels to Sharp. Their partnership would be GODLY) 90Hz IF POSSIBLE ONLY with options for 1080p@120Hz and 1080p@60Hz options all with Motion Blur
      Snapdragon 875 (with US/Japan/Chinese version adding band 71 and then 5G bands 2, 5, 12, 25, 30, 38, 41, 66, 71, 77, 78, 79 and the 4 mmWave bands to cover those extended spectrums from those countries with China adopting it soon)
      IP68/69K

8GB LPDDR5/256GB UFS 3.1 ROM (maybe with 12GB RAM/512GB ROM version) with up to 2TB microSD slot

Front facing stereo speakers with slight improvement from the Mark ii
      Headphone Jack with enhanced DAC
      Improvement on Dynamic Vibration

      5,000mAH battery minimum with 25W QuickCharge 5
15W wireless charging with 10W power delivery

Same 12MP primary cam but with different sensor for better clarity
48MP Ultrawide cam with added cinematography assistance
Replace the telephoto with a 48MP portrait sensor with 3X zoom
Add 12MP Periscope cam with up to 10X optical zoom
      ToF sensor

Upgrade to 12MP+ selfie cam for 4K vídeo

Miscellaneous includes maintaining the physical fingerprint reader (better for battery), Bluetooth 5.1, Wifi 6, and I can only dream of an IR Blaster...oh well. Lol

Guess the only thing to ask is that they give us more choices on pre-order bonuses. Like the headset is fine but maybe a choice between that and an equal value of their TWS headphones and 128GB Sandisk Extreme microSD card bundle as an example.

I would pre-order this like mad if Sony did all this; even if it hits the $1,400 mark like I'm sure it will.

They're known as one of the OEMs that have the best optimizing resources on its hardware package that either decent or smaller than the competition (OS, RAM) and I felt that by myself as a Sony user with Xperia XZ Premium with its 4GB of RAM, the long ancestor of Xperia 1 II. I had barely seen any reload on my apps, except being ignored, using overtime continuously with software that is demanding, etc. Still, most of the time it did run great. 4GB of XZP was able to outperform other Android counterparts with bigger RAM, and even iPhone 7 Plus in a speed test. Worry about your fav OEM.

And as for storage case, 512GB ROM is currently reserved for Xperia PRO (2020), which's not even a mainstream device at all, and 512GB is already enormous for 2020 standard. They just put their steps on 256/512GB ROM this year Xperias. 256GB of UFS 3.0 ROM is more than enough for a lot of people, and the addition of 1TB of MicroSD card slot, that's a flourish of storage in 1 II. And Sony fans' demands at most time, contrasts with mainstream requirements (like front-firing stereo speakers over notches, tool-less SIM-MicroSD slot over tool, solid colors over gradient colors, etc.), so that's a note to aware of.

12GB with 256GB is a real joke, people would gladly pay extra fro the memory they can use like 512GB of flash than on OS optimized RAM. I like how Sony want to charge people for their lack of investment in memory optimization, when 3GB Xiaomi reload less apps than 6GB Sony phones.

I was disappointed when I used my Xperia 5 for a long, long time.
So no, I won't repeat the same mistake and buy another Sony - I will wait for at least Xperia 1 III - if the battery won't suck this time, and they fix the camera software - because you know, Sony phone have the hardware, but Sony sure as hell won't release any update that would bring any new feature in. You need to buy new Sony for that.

If this is your definition for "masterpiece and awesome" I feel really sorry for you.

flagshipper, 27 Oct 2020so i went to shop for this phone, but then i checked how do... moreWell, pal, Xperia 1 II display hardware itself actually capable of running 120Hz on its sleeve in the first place, even with its 4K display on. However, due to hardware limitations of Snapdragon 865 where it can't run 4K@120Hz simultaneously and Sony locked the software abilities, the 120Hz can't be applied. But since HRR stans demanding it forcefully, Sony will unlock the 120Hz for 1 II, but at a lower resolution (2520x1096p) in Android 11 (same as Samsung solution), though the confirmation is out of the window so far, aka rumor.

I love this phone quite simply. All the issues that I had with other phones have been dealt with. Sony Xperia phones may not be as easy on the eye as some other phones but I'm more interested in functionality. The screen ratio soon became as perfect as the quality of the picture is. Sony phones also age well and the battery care software is excellent for looking after your phone long term. If the first month of ownership is typical, I will be keeping this phone for a few years at least.

I like sony mobiles. But these new mobiles are very expensive and biggest drawback is battery. Other brands like samsung are coming up bigger battery.
Sony should improve in this competitive market and make their phones affordable or else one again they may lose the markets.
Many Chinese mobiles are made affordable with new features.

                                  Yea.. Too much :(
