Fearghast, 03 Jul 2020Even Xperia 5 with it's 21:9 is totaly not comfortable... moreAs I said then you have to look for compact phones regardless of company (iPhone SE is perfect for you). I had no trouble with Xperia 1 II size as it comfortably fits in my Jeans (in the front pocket and not back while riding bicycle). My only complain about these peopel who complain is, it is not just Xperia that is of this size, all smartphones are of similar or bigger sizes but still I don't see people complaining about it.

Me saying Xperia 5 is not comfortable in pocket -> therefore Xperia 1/1 II won't be better experience seems like a reasonable conclusion.
Not to mention 99,9% of Xperia 1 features is in Xperia 5, it's the same device apart from useless 4K panel and DRAM for slow-mo.

1. It is the tallness of display, not wid... moreHmm, how i haven't notified about this comment anyway.
I am wondering if the "Totally wrong" statement was referring to the things you stated below it or to my comment, because the first option makes much more sense.
Regarding to the length of the phone and the reaching of the top of the display, it is already impossible since the 18:9 started regardless of the screen size, even 16:9 above 5.5 inches inches is impossible, down to 5.2 still feels awkward, so why bother about it while it is a forgone conclusion??
The 1 mark 2 is as tall as a S20 ultra, regarding to the pocket thing it is the same concept, phones in general have grown a lot in size, i have a 143 cm phone and i can't drive car, motorcycle, bicycle while it is in my pocket.

Smithravi, 03 Jul 2020I'm using X1 II and rode bicycle, and it did not come ... moreEven Xperia 5 with it's 21:9 is totaly not comfortable in pocket when driving a car or a bike, can't even imagine having bigger 6,5", It would be difficult to even sit in a car with it in my pocket.

Yes, fps doesn't work well with wet/dirty hands. But yeah I don't expect them too, it will make it less secure. I never had problems with fps until now unless my fingers are wet. This is the reason I registered 4 fingers on both hands lol.

1. It is the tallness of display, not wid... moreI'm using X1 II and rode bicycle, and it did not come out. Did you even know the height of One Plus and Samsung flagships??? If not then just don't spread misleading information. Xperia 1 II is just as tall as S20 Ultra but thinner and less wider. I think I explained the same thing in this same website 10 times. If S20 Ultra is not coming out of your pocket, then this one will not come out of your pocket. However X1 II is slippery without the case but I like the premium feel. In either way I use a case.
What you should ask yourself is, instead of looking at these big screens, get a compact smartphones which are less than 6" for your small pocket.

Anonymous, 03 Jul 2020How are the haptics on the Xperia 1 ii? They were great on Xperia 1 and 5 - IMHO useless but really good.
Especialy that vibrating engine during music/movie playback, that's just so annoying.

1. It is the tallness of display, not wid... more1. There is a one handed mode where you can reach pretty much anywhere on your screen with one hand, you don't have to move your fingers all the way up the screen to access the notifications. You can do it from the middle of the screen in one-handed mode. And you can turn this on and off anytime.
2. True, but I think more games are getting 21:9 support in the near future. But most of the popular games that everyone plays on these days are already supported. But if you are a heavy gamer, why are you getting this phone? Asus ROG seems to be more appropriate as it is a gaming phone anyway.
3. Maybe get pants with a bigger pocket? Or a slightly looser, more comfortable pants. I used to have Z5 premium that's only 11 mm shorter than the 1 II, and it sits deep in my pocket. If you find things slip out too easily. Get a case. it helps protect your phone as well, so it's a win win.

1. It is the tallness of display, not wid... more21:9 ratio is actually good with one hand usage since you can just swipe. It also has a one-handed mode.
It fits well into pockets than most phones and actually doesn't slip as much, I'd prefer this over tablet phones like the 20 ultra or p40

I have had this phone for two weeks now. I have to say, the screen is a treat! I read comments about how it is not noticeable to the eye to have such a high resolution. And I have to say, you so can! The only problem is finding 4k videos. I have only found YouTube to have videos to show off this screen. Unfortunately, none of the streaming services I have support it yet (Disney+, Netflix, Prime Video).
One negative about this phone is the finger print scanner. I owned, for a about a month, the iPhone SE previous to this phone and the finger print recognition was a dream on that device. The Sony scanner fails me about %90 of the time, very frustrating. I have sweaty hands. So, if you do also and are used to the reliability of unlocking your phone to the standard of an iPhone, you will be sorely disappointed. It's a shame there is no face recognition either. I basically have to unlock the phone with a pin.

1. It is the tallness of display, not width, that hinder one handed usage.
2. Very few games support 21:9 aspect ratio
3. It can't fit in any pocket. It will stick out when put in pant pocket and you cannot sit without taking this phone out from your pocket.

Just ordered my unit through ebay for an international model. I couldn't get one officially here in Australia. I also ordered my tempered glass screen protector and the Official Sony Style View case well ahead. So I should be able to get it protected as soon as I got my hands on the phone.
Can't wait !!

I intend to keep it for at least 4-5 years, as most of my phones life-span is, until the battery starts to deteriorate.

over a month since the initial review we still haven't seen GSMArena's battery review for this phone. It's difficult to benchmark users' individual usage against other phones, though I appreciate their feedback.

Tann Hauser, 01 Jul 2020Amazing phone indeed.
What about nightscenes with PhotoP... moreI still have to test Photo and Cinema pro. I don't have time. I might try few shots during coming weekend and update here/reddit. Sofar I only tried AUTO stock camera. One can get sun flares in certain angles when you try to take Pictures against bright sun light. Also in AUTO, HDR seems to be improved than People who posted using Xperia 1. But what I noticed while taking a lawn Scene against sun/sky is, if you tap on sky, HDR works much better on sky compared to lawn Scene and vice versa. But again, this is in stock camera.
Also I don't say I'm dissappointed with front cam but even after turning off soft Skin in settings, I still look soft (same Problem wih my Surface Pro 7 and now I use external cam for skype lol). It is not a Problem in good lightening conditions but in low light, skin softening is just not my preference. But I finally found a solution, one can go to Portrait mode and Keep everything low/0 (beauty effect, blur, etc ), Skin softening goes off and looks much much better.
Hope this helps you.

Smithravi, 01 Jul 2020There are also couple of other Options like Bed time, Stami... moreAmazing phone indeed.
What about nightscenes with PhotoPro HDRon?
SuperSaf crapper craps about not being able to shoot good nightshots without tripod...
But I ve seen elsewhere on yt, and here on arena it took great detailed HDR night scene shots with 1/13 shutter speed which is quite enough for easy handheld night photography, no tripod needed.
Is Saf just crapping it, or did I expect too much?
