It's one of the thinnest 4000mah phones at 7.6mm, in addition to the slim width of the phone.
A lot of people say they want a 5000mah battery, days of 16:9 phablets are gone so devices with that battery size are much thicker like lg v60 at 8.9mm. While not unwieldy - it is fatiguing.

You say 4k is useless, and is not noticeable on a smartphone screen. 120hz is much more needed. But then you suddenly find a use for 8k at 24fps.
So I guess you are going to record in 8k on a smartphone at 70mbps, which is heavily compressed transfer and then watch that on your 8k TV?
But recording in 4k and watching it on a 4k smartphone instantly has no use in your opinion

You have to use the video pro app to get 4k60p but can you record 4k60p in 16:9 AR ?
I got the feeling that if you use the video PRO app you get the cinema AR 21:9 when recording 4k.
So the question is can the phone record 4k60p in AR of 16:9 or are you stuck with 21:9 in the PRO app?

Plain 8K at 24fps is worse than 4K HDR 30fps. Period. 8K is a gimmick for pools.

But about AF, Canon need 3 years to make similar AF like Sony (Sony A9 -> Canon EOS-1D X Mark III). Samsung engineers working hard to copy that. Premiere - next year.

Sony shoots 4k at 90mbps
Samsung shoots 8k at 80mbps
This fact alone can prove sony to have more detail in 4k than samsung in 8k, wake up
and professional cameras have 200-400mbps in 4k, and 1000-2000 mbps in 8k
whereas sony's 4k@90mbps is, say, at worst, quarter quality of a professional camera, samsung's 80mbps in 8k are not even 2,5% of a professional camera.
What is your point?

4K is higher bit rate than 1440p and 1080p. So even if the screen wasn't 4k, there is still more information per frame than 1440p or 1080p.

No being rude here but i don't see this camera perform bad. Bit better than other flagships (sorry motorola, I love you but your flagship is bad at pictures) . And is it generations like each flagship camera released by sony?

Finally a good phone. An actual good phone! They know their priorities: a very very good screen,in exchange for 90hz,which i wouldnt mind (kinda expensive to not have it, but it does so great at camera that i'm giving it a pass), fastesr chip,no need for those 16gb Ram, just 8, to not increase the price probably, excellent design and, probably the best camera on the market,software wise and photo quality. Great phone sony! Some photographers will buy it, other people i don't think so...

I did because they are. 60 exposure level adjustments per second and 20 fps burst shots aren't enough to change that. Can't shoot in 8K so that's a generation behind. And it has sensors that are only on par with ones from multiples generations ago. I'm talking 2018 here.
