OP111, 11 Jul 2021Who is gonna spend 1300 Euros for that Sony??? Sony, appare... moreThat is an excellent idea, of course it depends on how long you want to keep your phone for. If your are going to change it after 2 or 3 years it is a better option (economically speaking). If you plan to keep the phone 4 or 5 years then the Sony is the better option. This won't always be the case for everybody but statistically the components in the Sony are less likely to fail. I'm not saying that the Chinese phones are badly made but they obviously save on costs somewhere along the line, slightly thinner glass here, a plastic connector instead of metal one there, and so on.
Cue the "Chinese phones use even better components than Sony and are cheaper and last longer" comments. Please begin

OP111, 11 Jul 2021Who is gonna spend 1300 Euros for that Sony??? Sony, appare... moreYou literally are on a forum where people have already bought it, pre-ordered it or planning to buy to buy once its available. So, i don't know. And apart from the Chinese brands, all other manufacturers are asking a similar price for their flagships. S21 Ultra, iphone 12 pro max both have a similar price.
Qualcomm released a smartphone for Snapdragon insiders for 1500$. Thats even more expensive than others.

Who is gonna spend 1300 Euros for that Sony??? Sony, apparently, does not aware of the market price as per for today! They must have missed it! you can get OnePlus 9 Pro for much less than that and still get a brilliant phone - one of the best in the market! Go figure!

Amir , 09 Jul 2021Hi.
For a perfect cellphone like THIS, it is a weak point ... morePeople, you blaim Sony for bad selfie camera. Please ask your self, who's camera on Xperia 1 II (I think Xperia 1 III has the selfie camera from Xperia 1 II)?????
It's Samsung's sensor. So, Samsung makes bad camera sensors, not SONY. Do research before saying anything stupid

Beeper, 10 Jul 2021Except for the poor battery life and lackluster photos.I haven't seen any proof that it takes lackluster photos. What I have seen is a lot of reviewers who have a very skewed idea of what photography should be criticize Sony for not enforcing the generic HDR look on every photo. I've also seen a bunch of lazy reviewers simply refuse to use the camera app the way it's intended, and then pretend they're comparing apples to apples.
This video compares the Xperia 1 II to the iPhone 12 Pro from a photographer's perspective: https://youtu.be/18cAPhfjTzs

Beeper, 10 Jul 2021Except for the poor battery life and lackluster photos.Battery life can be extended (I hope, substantially) with dark theme, Game Enhancer for all my apps, getting rid of sucky Google apps, and Sony learning my mannerisms.
As for photos, Pro Mode gives me perfectly natural photos so I'm good with it. I'm not a social media junkie so it works for my needs.

Anonymous, 09 Jul 2021It is a weak point, but the alternatives are bigger bezels ... moreAlso agree. Notches are just lazy from a design perspective in my opinion, punch hole not much better. Was noticing my wife watching a movie on her S20 the other day (which has an aux output and SD card!), but there was this big ole black hole on the side. Inelegant solution. And I've read that the smaller sensor is used to save space on the bezel, but have had no luck in finding any specs on what the size difference would be using a 12mp sensor for example. That said, 8mp is not necessarily worse that 12mp, and as we've seen in things such as 108mp shooters, may actually be better in many ways. Is anyone shooting a selfie to blow up into a 6-foot frame for their home? We do it to share on our phones, so 8mp picture size v. 12 is likely irrelevant isn't it?
