I've always been impressed with the Sony phones
I've owned and that's not that many as they last!

I retired my Sony Xperia z5 compact last year, I nearly pulled the trigger on the Xperia 1iii but the deal here where I am living was terrible
I chose the z5 at the time due to its camera and ease of use, along with having a lot of Sony products already to work with it at home it integrated well.

I went for an OPPO find X3 Pro instead to replace my Sony, camera wise the X3 pro is impressive as is its build quality (I was a fan of the media players)

Then just recently I had the chance to borrow an Xperia 5 MK3 and that was it for the week , I didn't take a single picture using my find X3 Pro because I loved what I could achieve with the 5 MK3 , I've used Alpha camera's so I knew what I was doing and that's Sony, it gives you absolute control with your creativity, if you take the time to learn it you'll love it .
The 5 MK3 felt great in hand and again nice build quality

I still like my OPPO and I'll keep it for quite some time but if I'd had the chance later down the line I'd brought the 1 MK4 as it's quite the improvement over the 1 mkiii

Build quality is as good as it gets , I think android 7 was the last update I got on my z5 compact and the security update was from ages ago but I've not had an issue that I'm aware off.

Price wise it's a difficult one , the problem is the phone is more than some of their main cameras but nothing that fits in your pocket gives you that much control, especially if you're into post editing footage

As for the HW rumor it says my X3 Pro uses an imx 686 on the main camera when it shows an imx766 on the OPPO site so who knows, it's also a brand new device so the communication from HW information may match that if another sensor uses the same read/write pattern

Either way still a beautiful phone , I'm glad they stuck with the design and the features they're known for

To me they are a enthusiast phone but I do think longer software support to help improve the camera functions and to refresh the UI to keep the phone feeling fresh would help justify the price tag but again the downside of a small market makes it harder to maintain that notion

Would really prefer this with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. Or even Dimensity 9000. At least they improved the manual screen brightness from 350 nits to 600 nits. They need to give 4 years of updates at that price. 2 years which means Android 13 and maybe Android 14 is not good enough.

Just wait 4 months and you can buy this phone for like half the price. All the Sony flagships I've bought in the past 3 years were like this. At full price I don't think these phones are worth it at all but at half price they are a good deal.

Except for headphone jack, microSD slot and the stock Android UI, almost everything in Xperias are worse than other brands.
I wish other brands offered sd card and headphone jack at the very least! Then no need to look into sony.
That's a warning for Sony too, those two things are only things that makes their phones relevant today. If they drop headphone jack and sdcard then none would ever look into their phones.

"A flagship that has the "bypass charging" feature for my heavy use or gaming sessions. Thats my only reason for going for this phone because i play alot of cod mobile."

No any Red Magics or gaming phones mentioned. It was just in yer head, a thought circle you activated cause you seem intent on presuading people not to buy this phone, as you just said yourself.
The guy was talking about picking out this out of them all heavily priced flagship phones, not gaming phones.

So yah, you went cherry picking. I added the watermellon to your basket.

Tann Hauser, 28 May 2022Im not confused at all, fortunately. You re cherrypicking ... moreYou started cherry picking first so I was just doing exactly what you're doing, cherry picking. If you are against cherry picking then don't do it yourself. Its hypocritical of you to do something but don't expect the other person to do the same exact thing. Illogical just like your recommendation.

Regardless, the OP only wanted a phone to play COD that has bypass power so why would anyone tell them to spend $1700 when you can buy a phone that has the same feature for 1/3 of the price? They didn't mention cameras, didn't mention SD cards slots, didn't mention anything else, all they wanted was a phone that has bypass power for COD Mobile. You're taking this way out of context at this point and adding things for the pure sake of argument.

After reception issues with Sony 5ii for about 1 year and then android 12 update solved it Sony sucks. I see they also still have the weakest camera flash on any phone I have ever seen too. Kudos to them for headphone jack and SD slot.

You re cherrypicking the lower end 128/8 gb phone versions for a price range debate. And those are just a part of spec differentials.
Do you even check their specs while debating prices?
Why not pick the all top Rog gaming phone versions, as we are comparing top flag spec device prices. And please do check spec differences.

                                        https://m.gsmarena.com/asus_rog_phone_5s_pro-11053.php

That gaming phone costs 2000 euros. Insane.
Now, try justifying that phones price for a change.

Its ludicrous that even an older top Rog3 phone costs that much.

But Im not even considering specs compares. All Im saying is there are gaming oriented phones costing as much or even more expensive than Xperia 1 IV, depending of their specs sheet.
Of course one can find much cheaper gaming phones out there, but only by cutting some of them spec corners.
Whether those are a better options as to just have some gaming oriented feats, is entirely up to personal preferences.

And is definitely a debate point about Xperias price which, although too high also, seems to be on the same rationale of "you get what you pay for".
