Waiting for Xperia 1 V as that would come with TSMC manufacturered SD 8 Gen 2 which would a huge transformation in all aspects. Battery life should be a fair amount better with less overheating

So many brands use their sensors and get stunning results but with their own phones you're always behind. 21:9 aspect ratio is completely useless on a phone and I will never buy another 21:9 screen in my life after using one. A totally useless format. But people buy them because they still have micro sd slot and headphone jack. Other than this, I don't see why you would buy a Sony phone in 2023. One of the most overrated products on the market. And this comes from a Sony fan. I have a lot of products from them, including my brand new 4K TV which is Sony.

Take an old style 5inch screen, stretch its top and bottom and this is the result.. A so called modern Xperia 1iv. Seriously compare the screen width of an Xperia 1 iv to Xperia z5 from 8 years ago. If Sony did 20:9 ratio instead of its rediculously narrow 21:9 ratio then I might be interested in them still but they are small screens. The fact that other brands use Sonys own sensors in a better way than Sony can says it all. The narrowness probably doesn't help the overheat too much either.

A retailer in the UK has been selling this phone reconditioned for around €375. Everybody is receiving phones that look brand new with 2 year warranty remaining. I think everybody got scared of the overheating talk and sent theirs back, hence why there is so many recons available, but in reality it only really heats up now if you're recording in 4k or 120fps. And even then it isn't as hot as the Xiaomi 11T Pro would get.
The overall experience is just light years away from other phones I've had - OnePlus Nord & 8T, Poco X3 NFC, Xiaomi 11T Pro, Pixel 6A.... none of them even come close in terms of the finish, camera, speed, even the software (especially when comparing with the god awful MIUI). It's exactly what you would expect from a premium manufacturer and a flagship product.

Alpha, 27 Feb 2023I have had Z5, XZ2, XZ3, 1ii and more..Thats because the SoC is fabbed by scamsung thats why it heats up even my wifes S21 heats up when I tried recording 4k vids on it, it shuts down in about 4 or 5 mins.

Its their poor thermals and optimiz... moreNot just phones, read that mostly 4K Capable Sony Camera and Camcorder are also face overheat issue when record in 4K format, yeah The overheat issue is only existed in Sony their owned custom sensor NOT sensor for the general market like Samsung or Apple, Sony enforce their owned sensor for delivering ultra maximum quality but in the cost the camera sensor thermal easily gets too hot
Yeah this always been a problem with Sony and dont know why still no solution for camera sensor overheat problem, while other OEM who use Sony sensor still deliver good result without power and thermal problem

If you experience overheating while browsing open up the game enhancer app and add in your browser app, next open your browser and go to game enhancer settings. under game mode go to custom then change thermal limit to high, max screen refresh 120 and touch response to high then enjoy buttery smooth browsing with no throttling and no dropping to 60hz

One of the worst phone I`ve owned....
-outside in the sun.....forget it, after 5 min it overheats, brightness goes down, becomes very slow
-the UI looks bland, no built-in weather app like they used to have in the past
-great camera hardware & app, but only for a few shots, after that it overheats
-very poor signal quality, I had moments where I was in the town centre with only EDGE signal & 1 bar.
Sony, mate, please do not build phones any more, focus on other things that you do better, TVs...etc

Sounds like a despera... moreIn my household alone, I have the Sony 1 IV, my wife have Sony 5 IV coz she wants it to be compact, kids who are in college have 10 III, some older Xperia II series given away to relatives/friends with no issues. We also have large Sony TV in our living room & smaller Sony TVs for bedrooms(older Sony TVs were given to relatives or friends with no issues), PS5/4 & some older consoles PS3/2/1. Have Sony BlueRay Player exclusively for BD/DVD Movies that I buy/collect. Sony 7.1 Surround Sound System/Amplifiers/Speakers. Sony AM/FM/CD Player/etc Radio(Kitchen)/Portable for travel. Sony Desk Alarm Clock. Sony Headphones(some new some old). Some older model probably 2 or 3 years ago Sony camcorder for casual use still working to this day. Basically we have almost every Sony electronic device here besides fridge, washing machine, stove/ovens light fixtures etc. & if Sony made them Ill definitely buy them to have an all Sony product household.
