Also is an entirely new sensor technology for Xperia not enough to qualify as commited to mobile? A Sony Alpha executive is cited saying mobile phone cameras will surpass full frame cameras by 2024 in image quality. That's not the kind of claim someone planning to pull out of the mobile space makes.

You could get technical and say that it's a vertical screen so it shouldn't work that way, but it refers to horizontal resolution. Which is 3840. 3840*1644 is a standard 21*9 4K resolution.

Sony hasn't divulged that information and it's not in consumers hands to check yet. But I'm telling you it's not UFS 1. UFS 1 does not allow you to save full quality uncompressed 12MP shots at 30FPS.

Nobody knows which chip is, but is not any of those recently rebranded.
It is either 8000/8200/8300.

Excellent design, and strong feature set both in software and hardware. However, the stability seems extremely disappointing, what is the point of an 8 Gen 2 if it is going to perform half as good after few minutes of intensive use? But still, the worst part is the quality of and the support for their software. Sony manages to make AOSP look coherent and consistent by how messy and unmaintained their version of Android looks, they probably have very few software developers working on their Android implementation and updates but at the asking price for this phone, it is not our problem and they should do better. What I mean is, they have all these different tweaks, apps, and feature additions that do not come together nicely. Different style and size toggles in the settings, weirdly small text and UI elements for such a large and tall screen, and the high refresh rate option is a single switch on a page on its own with no additional illustrations to fill that white empty pillar of a screen. For over 1400 euros, I expect a phone with attention to detail, coherent and nicely implemented software with many years of support.

Having a 52Mp or a 48Mp isnt gonna make much of difference and anyways its binned down to 12mp which makes the whole thing better.

There are three things that in my opinion are quite silly and funny. First, they give 30w charging on a 5000mAh battery, although it's fine, but 25w is enough. But, I understand that many people are addicted to their devices so waiting for them to finish charging is difficult. Second, they still use front numbers for 4K resolution. I actually still wonder why they and many people still do it but for the 21:9 ratio with 4K resolution it is actually 5040×2160 instead of 3840×1644 not the numbers in front but the back first that should be written. Third, this one is very clear which is the price of the device.

If only Sony made a midranger that competes with the Poco F5 that also has expandable storage with headphone jack and SD 7+ Gen 2 at a similar price with identical specs.

FOV is same for 4:3 and 16:9/21:9 modes.
Also, reduces the crop of EIS, less resolution lost because of it.

does this phone still have the notification LED on the top right ? i dont see any dedicated layout on the top bezel for a LED on the renders. if anyone gets a hands-on or knows if it still does plz comment here.
