It's too small and too hard to get consistently high quality variable zoom lenses at a reasonable price. I've read that some people get decent quality lenses while others get bad quality lenses in the phones so it looks like sony is struggling with quality control. You can still get good quality photos from digital zoom on top of a prime telephoto lens, you just need more megapixels.
    For the Qi2 wireless charging, it's not about the speed, it's about the magnets. It lines the wireless charger up perfectly every time, and opens up a whole new world of magnetic accessories. 15 watts is fast enough for wireless charging, and the 90w wireless charging will absolutely fry a phones battery. I can't see it lasting more than a year if it's charged at 90 watts wirelessly. I know that magsafe isn't open source, but apple helped developed the qi2 standard and its pretty much the same thing as magsafe.
    You are completely wrong in terms of sales though. The more people know about Xperias, the more people will buy them, and the cheaper they will be through economies of scale. More production = lower unit price. It's basic economics.

How else are you going to get high-quality images while zooming in? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and maybe you got lucky with your particular smartphone's telephoto quality, but literally all of the tests i've seen show the Sony's telephoto as worse than the competitors.

            1. Of course they want to sell a lot of phones. Practically all companies in existence wants to sell as many of it's products as possible at the highest price consumers are willing to pay in order to make the most amount of money possible, it's basic economics. I understand that Sony supplies the other manufacturers with sensors. Sony might even have agreements to reserve their best sensors for their competitors and not use it in their own devices in exchange for their competitors buying a lot of Sony's sensors. But I can't help but feel disappointed at the performance of the Xperia's cameras. Sony makes both the phone and the cameras in the phone, the should have perfect vertical integration and have the best or close to the best camera performance of all smartphones, especially since it's presented as a camera phone. I feel like you're looking too deep into it, Sony wants to sell phones, but is struggling due to poor business decisions.

            2. Yes, i'm fairly young. And I feel like you are probably an older gentleman who feels a sense of nostalgia towards film cameras. I never used them, and as such don't feel that connection towards them. But digital cameras take the same picture and capture the same fleeting moment as film cameras, while allowing you to do things that are impossible on film. And people usually don't save the whole burst shot, it is used for very fast-moving subjects such as wildlife or sports in order to capture that perfect moment, something which is almost impossible to do in a single photo on film. Film has it's merits such as a excellent dynamic range and image quality when experiencing vibrations (which is why rocket launches from 50 years ago shot on film still look better than modern rocket launches with modern digital cameras) but for the most part, digital cameras offer superior capability, convenience, cost and image quality. It's the reason why everyone uses digital nowadays and film is a niche hobby.

                Can't find anything interesting about this phone from any detail.
                It seems that the only way to to find out for real is to try it.
                But I don't think I can afford to risk on purchasing this device.
                So I'm going to try a used one of another model for cheap price (similar price as other brands) and see if there's anything special about Sony.
                If yes, then maybe there is still some light in this one too, I guess.

                  Xperia 1 VI owner , 23 Nov 2024Japanese phone manufactures in Thailand.I don't think Thai is particularly better than China for quality wise (because most phones are manufactured in China, and many of them work fine today unlike decades ago that China made famous name for cheap quality).
                  Maybe it's only good for Sony itself to protect their design from being copied (?)

                                To me it seems like you are the one using chatgpt. Because AI can't understand long and complex conversation. They just identify some word's and mark the entire chat.
                                It's true that the person I replied to said that sony should follow other companies. But even he didn't say anything about punch holes. Infact, he didn't say anything about selfie
                                I only said only one sentence about it
                                "The selfie will stay the same and update in a later version."
                                Because there is no rumors about it. And from the spec he stated he doesn't probably keep track of rumors. So I added it although it was not necessary.
                                He had very high hope's (which is a little unrealistic for now) and sony didn't meat them, which made him lose hope. So I gave him realistic hope. In other words I was technically defending sony.
                                Also I told him why sony doesn't follow other companies and they they should stay the way they are. Because that's what makes sony sony. The market doesn't needs another copycat. Every company shouldn't target the same market.
                                I even said how Apple is also bad in some parts (because he brought Apple to the conversation).

                                Don't worry, sony won't go out of business anytime soon. There strategy is different from LG. There is lots of hope. So, calm down.
                                And if you kids can't handle the big (comments) ones you shouldn't try to. Leave them to us bigs (comments). 2% is more than 0%. Especially when you multiple it with 8 billion people. But because your comment lacks information and you didn't thought much, people will flood you with questions.
                                You kids nowadays get offended even if the other person is not offending you. People can have different taste. If they don't know something (feature, spec etc) you are supposed to tell them, not get angry

                                    I think Sony should have developed their own panel and put better cameras in their phones.
                                    Perhaps they want to sell their hardware separately, but then it simply means that they should have developed both phone components and other hardware better.
