never repaired or replaced anything on it... though most of my phones are like that... even the nokia 909...
so, in a way... quality phones are way cheaper in the long run... than buying higher spec low price phone but you end up buying annually... not that i dont buy a phone yearly, but at least most of them are still working...

But I grew accustomed to online radio that became more customer specialised media.
And it became low data use feature long time ago. Even my prepaid 4 gb 7€/monthly plan is enough to listen to it for hours ocassionaly.

Got hands, 14 Oct 20200.0005%? Really? Well That's your opinion. Unfortunate... moreAll of my IOT home appliances use bt or wifi, some via NFC. ..my washing machine, my refrigerator, my climate cooler, my TV, my bedroom lights switch...
None of them have IR sensor listed as an option.

Maybe I am oblivious of IR sensor use in IOT appliances, but I have yet to see or buy one that uses it.

p.s. Bt 5 is really low energy level consumer, certainly less than active IR sensor.

The M51 is a great phone. Charging speed kills you battery longevity.

        > Even the same phone have 128GB option.
        > Many phones under 300 have 8GB ram and 256GB disk space.

128GB option is literally all you need when you have SD card support, unless you plan on installing multiple 30 GB apps. As for the 8GB of RAM, that is all you need on a phone with current apps. Hell, that is all most full desktop computers had until a couple years ago. Also, there is only a two phones that is under $300 that has that: Realme 6. M51. Every other rare phone with it under $300 is only in china and costs over $300 to import, plus they all have ads.

        > 12 mpix camera??? Even the Nookia 808 Pureview had 41 Mpix just sayn.

Megapixels are only about 20% of what makes a camera good. Capture speed, lenses, focal length, pixel size, etc.. all play a large factor with pixel size being directly correlated to low light performance. The Nokia Pureview was widely considered one of the best camera phones for its time, but the quality isn't the same (even though the sensor is the largest of any smartphone), and it had a mediocre dynamic range and bad low light performance. Look at GSM arena's own camera comparison tool to see the difference for yourself.

        >And your desired IP resistance is just a costly gimmick.

That is also not true at all. It is a large benefit for some people. Hikers and backpackers, outdoor workers, photographers, underwater photography, or just having your phone in a place where it may be wet. As a backpacker, I had rain for 5 straight days in the Smokey Mountains and even though my phone was in a plastic bag, it still got water damage from the humidity and condensation. Not only this, but navigation using GPS is impossible in the rain without an IP rated smartphone.

        > As long as water damage is not covered in warranty whether you have or not IP resistance it doesnt matters once your phone dies from water damage you have to pay expensive repair and do a lot of prayers to see t working again and not loose all your precious data.

This is just plain illogical. IP resistance is literally there so your phone doesn't get water damage. You are obviously very uninformed with how it works. Even if some water gets in the phone, it won't necessarily be water damaged at all where you cheap Chinese advertisement-phones will be completely destroyed. No phones have water damage in the warranty, you would have to get an expensive protection plan that would double the cost of your cheap phone.

Moral of the story, don't come to random flagship phones and crap all over them just because you don't understand them or their usecase.

Got hands, 14 Oct 20200.0005%? Really? Well That's your opinion. Unfortunate... moreI agree with the importance of everything you listed for sure! The problem is you are wrong about people wanting it. The vast majority of people don't care. There is a reason radio has been dying since the early 2000s, and a reason the supermajority of people didn't care and never used IR blasters and PTT walkie talkie functionality.

They are all awesome features that are great to have in a phone, but the reason companies are going "backwards" as you say, is because they are trimming off the features that very few people care about or use. There is literally 0 business sense to spend the R&D and development time to make phone features that don't appeal to their user base. Honestly there should be a phone line that isn't about selling units but appealing to all the niches, but the reality is that it probably wouldn't do well.

Tann Hauser, 08 Oct 2020IR sensor? Because 0.0005% of people care for having it. ... more0.0005%? Really? Well That's your opinion. Unfortunately, you're wrong about that about this by 99.9995%. IR sensors may not used just in TV sets, you just don't grasp the capabilities of it - most of home apliences and IOT shit may be controlled by this sensor. Wifi & Bluetooth are not always reliable & drain tio much power. Striping phones from jack, FM radio or SD card slots will end big brands. FM radio is ideal for public annoncements related to state emergency and free access to infornation & music - old school but still better than paid . I frequenly want to listen to it - even i have a spotify plan, where you still cannot listen to everything you know or love. And besides there were phones once, which had pure PTT function and you could easily switch to off-band walkie talkie channel. Also i remember - i had to wait ages for Sony Android updates. Camera, Cpu or RAM is just pure basic thing for me and will not play any role & each Brand should understand that these spec must be good by default - it's nothing new or special. Sony was a Pioneer, now it's crawling backwards just as Samsung and few other big name companies. Windows phones may have been crap (just don't now - probably they were good actually), but the phone market also needs to fill that gap after windows left the market - by bringing back balance with widely accessible OS.

Does anyone know if Xperia 5 case fits on Xperia 5 II case? Only the thickness seems to have changed.

I don't understand why people are obsessed with more cameras, more megapixels. Do you think a three/four/five camera setup and 48/64/105 megapixel can produce better photos? Those who think this way should use a Google Pixel phone. And why people need 50 or 120 watt chargers? The faster your battery recharges, the faster it also degrades. 15-18 watt chargers should be sufficient, both for your time and the health of the battery.

This phone is a good flagship from Sony. Too bad not everyone will buy this.

Thought that google assist button will be a bother but is not at all. It doesnt protrude, and has to actualy be pressed and held to activate assistnt. So no accidental assist activation, which is nice.

Love them bezels too. Dont know how these bezeless fan people hold or operate those all_just_screen phones. They must have some hard time adjusting to using two hands all the time. Here I am, struggling one hand use with these mini bezels even.

This is a nice business phone and something like this was missing from the market since the S10e was phased out.
What I want is relatively small size, decent CPU, IP68 rating and a headphone jack because I'm still using headphones with a cable. This phone is spot on. When the price drops it looks like a strong candidate to replace my LG G6.
