This phone right here is, besides the price, there literally best phone around with the most features. And a headphone jack! Thanks sony. A cheaper (400$) SD765G variant would be great too

But still its a gimmick.
For just 5 bucks here in my country in Slovakia you can buy monthly insurance cost 5 per month to protect your phone from any and all kinds of damage for as long as you pay the insurance.
Its a much cheaper option to be honest,

Note 3:
In lowlight photography Photography Pro AUTO mode uses too much exposure. Hope they adress it in an update.
I would recommend using MR mode, memorized at P mode/autoHDR/ISO 500/SS 1/4, for great balanced handheld lowlights without excessive blownouts due to exposure.

On a note 2:
Yes, autoHDR is active in Photography Pro AUTO mode, so yes, you have a point n shoot alike camera experience just as on any other flagship phone. And I am glad sony doesnt overdo it in processing, Its got a nice natural look to it.
Additional P/S/M mode you have to set it to auto in options, and you get a fully manual HDR photo camera at your disposal.
Photos are excellent.

AnonD-731363, 17 Oct 2020Man i understand your feelings but the IP cwrtification is ... moreYes, every phone can withstand some rain. But if you are actively using your phone for extreme sports or if you are living in a rainy climate, then the IP rating is in no way a gimmick. My last two phones were actually saved thanks to the IP rating (heavy storm on a motorcycle trip, heavy storm on an outside gig, falling into a river etc.)

On a note:
DSV greatly enhances base im music apps like DI.fm, etc.
It makes like a mini mobile subwoofer effect.
The difference with it on or off is really noticable.
So IMO, DSV is a great little tech addon to media experience on this phone.
Haptics are great also, if anyone is in question.

pan, 16 Oct 2020About the camera i said just sayn i know u are right and me... moreMan i understand your feelings but the IP cwrtification is gimmick some rain can whitstand any phone.
Had Lenovo Vibeshot before i bought my Moto X4 back in 2017 and it worked pretty well even under rainy conditions and thats a chinese phone with a no IP certification.
Just an example a customer came to our stores with Sony Z5 premium to fix water damage.
In a childs rubber pool he took 2 photos of his twins and the phone died.
Another customer working on constructions came with a CAT S61 also to fix water damage.
Sometimes when you are unlucky or have a bad day even the unexpected can happen and you cant avoid it.

The M51 is a great ph... moreAbout the camera i said just sayn i know u are right and megapixels arent everything but mostly the phones with more megapixels preform better,
> where did you get that, it might get a lot of details... but "performs better" is another... 20fps for taking a picture needs "enough" megapixels... the readout for large resolution takes time...
ip certification is not a gimmick "based on my experience" of using my phones, besides there is a disclaimer of what it can handle, thus the "warranty issue" you are talking about... our company has social and environment involvement and there are cases where my hands are muddy and i need to use my phone, phone on my pocket when it rained... of course, there are things i can do to avoid my phone getting wet... but it is quite limiting and ip certification gives me peace of mind...
well many people are like you before when other flagships dont have it yet aside from xperia...
i think you are one of the few leftover?...
again, if your experience call it a gimmick, so be it... but your experience is not of everyones

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2020> Man even the Samsung M51 have 7000 mAh and a lot faste... moreMy friend just few explantations.
The M51 is a great phone. Charging speed kills you battery longevity. In past this was correct but in present era withh modern batteries and charges it does not works the wy you said and it was proven many times over since 50w chargers and faster are here for severa years 2 or so.
Those so called adds can be easily disabled from settings in xiaomi phones its possible in many else phones too just google it or watch a outube video with guide how to dissable phone adds.
About the camera i said just sayn i know u are right and megapixels arent everything but mostly the phones with more megapixels preform better,
Man lastly i was speaking from own experiences.
Here in my country i run a phone shop company where we at 40 stores sells many cell phones from many brands. IP resistance is nothing than gimmick because many customers came back with a water resisntant phone to fix a water damage.

I've just spent 2 days with my brand new Xperia 5 II. I was really excited at first, but am going back to my OnePlus 8 Pro as my daily driver. Two deal breakers for me:
(a) The camera is horrible. The selfie camera is only 8MP and the main shooter is 12MP. Coming from the OnePlus 8 Pro with 48MP main and 16MP selfie cam, I didn't realize the difference would be so bad.
(b) The finger scanner on the side of the phone is quite hit and miss. I tried registering quite a few versions of my thumb and middle finger and still was hit and miss.
That said, I loved the phone's thinner, taller, lighter overall physical size, 120hz screen (like the OP8P), and it's got this cool bass vibration thingy when you watch Youtube. Batter is smaller at 4000mAh but it's fine and didn't really have major batter drain issues, even with the 120hz on the whole time. It's a really really nice phone, if only the camera at least was up to current flagship specs, I would keep it as my daily driver and keep the finger scanner turned off.

I think it's bad that only apple is able to build a compact cell phone Iphone 12 mini perfect size for a compact. I've always had androit and sony but apparently sony and samsung are no longer able to build small cell phones

In regard to the finger print sensor, I think Sony have nailed it with the side button. I had a Sony with side sensor and last time switched to Samsung with rear sensor and the sensor on the back is an absolute pain. You keep hitting the camera lens and its not naturally where your finger sits when picking up the phone. The batteries on Sony phones may be smaller than the competition but my battery drains very quick on my Samsung in just a year. Never had that trouble with xz premium or xz3

I was looking at this phone, wish the camera's were a little bit better and I don't know if I want to give up my wireless charging as I am very good at ruining ports. But furthermore it ticks a lot of my boxes
- small enough to carry around without falling out of my hand (below 75mm including case)
- IP-rating
- wide angle AND telephoto camera
- headphone jack
- OLED
- sd card slot
- no ugly noth
- no camera square (it is so ugly)
- battery life better than current phone
Or maybe I will keep my LG G7. Depends on the software. I don't know, is Sony using clean Android? I don't really like that 😅
