I have bought the 5 II in 2020 with the bundle deal (phone+earbuds) and currently the phone has 2 vertical green lines and one earbud does work anymore.
The screen is well protected by a tempered glass and it was not hit or put into sun light.
Since the second green line appeared I can make the assumption that they appear in the following conditions:
1. The Battery was bellow the 10-15%
2. The Stamina mode is or was on
So my advice to current owners is to keep it charged above 15% all the time and DON'T enable Stamina mode. Usually this mode kicks in at 5% but in my case I've enabled it for better battery life. It seems this contributes to green lines.
This is not the user's fault it is Sony's fault in both hardware and software.

NFC stopped working after update to Android 12. It looks like there was no NFC chip at all. Does anybody know how to deal with this? This is the only thing that makes me think of switching to another phone after 2,5 half years of using Xperia V II.

I simply do not understand why people diie for more software updates, by updating android from 10 to 13 will not make it new infact i do not prefer to update my phones. Whenever you update there are always some new problems, amd security updates do nothing. Give me a phone that has a reliable battery amd user experience thats all

A little rant. The last usable Xperia 5 imo, the III and IV suffer from massive overheating issues. The II gets VERY hot during gaming too but I've only had the dreaded "Your phone is overheating" notification once after using it as a sat nav with active WhatsApp video calling in the sun. I presume Sony didn't really put any restrictions on power in place on the processor, so it just gets hot very quickly.
Sony not giving it Android 13 sucks, because they even support it officially in their Open Devices Program!
I've had my first device lose signal entirely until restarted. It wouldn't even show me the option for emergency calls and when trying to choose a network provider manually, the list was empty. Sony fixed that under warranty, the device was 3 months old! After that I never had any issues with signal. Yes, the bars at the top are never on full, even when I can read the text of the network tower outside my office window. I've never had any dropouts again tho. Maybe someone just programmed the bars wrong lol
For me the touchscreen could be more sensitive or at least have a "winter glove" option like Samsung does. With a glass screen protector and my dry skin, sometimes it is very unresponsive.
A little software quirk, the area left of the back button also triggers the back button, this is not the case on the right button. This causes me to hit the back button when typing fast since I type with 2 hands. Slight annoyance but preferrable to gesture control.
And lastly, the proximity sensor. FFS Sony, you've designed a lot of devices of this type now and in reviews of the newer versions of the 5 and 1 people still complain about the proximity sensor not working properly during calls! This causes the screen to flicker on and off at times and I've read people actually hung up with their ear lobe during calls...
I refuse to believe this is a hardware issue.
Apart from these issues, I really love this device. It fits my workflow pretty well, since has an SD card slot and headphone jack. Battery life when not torturing it is great, even after 2 years of heavy usage. Cameras are good, I appreciate the little to none software manipulation that Sony does, but that's just my taste.
I might put a custom Android 13 rom on it in the future, only if I can keep the Dolby sound, since it's really nice when watching a lot of YouTube.

boota, 06 Jul 2023I have been using it for 2 weeks now and honestly please do... moreI have been using this phone for 2 years, and I believe this review is simply wrong:
1. The signal is excellent.
2. The flashlight is decent and comparable with other flashlights on flagships.
3. The Android clean experience is exceptional. And Sony excels in battery optimization.
This is an outstanding phone. To clutter, perfect form factor, brilliant design, very powerful, superb display, there are so many pluses. I simply don't understand why would people consider otherwise. I fully recommend it.

I have been using it for 2 weeks now and honestly please don't buy this phone. Sony is terrible at making phones. They have 0.1% market share for a reason and now I understand why. I looked at this phone and some reviews and I was like the camera is not great but the phone overall looks good because the hardware is good and they didn't mess with android at all, what could possibly go wrong. But here are some serious problems with this phone:
1. The worst part is SIM signals. It is barely catching 4G signals and keeps on shifting between 3G, 4G, 4G+ all the time on auto mode and you already know what happens when it keeps on shifting frequently (it just doesn't work).
2. The flashlight is extremely dull. It is only useful to you when you are lost somewhere in a cave and it's completely dark (zero photons) and you should be able to just see things with the flashlight on.
3. They literally didn't mess around with android and I thought maybe it's a good thing atleast for me because i wanted simplicity but its definitely not. Optimizations are definitely required like at least a little bit of battery and memory optimization features and stuff like that. The only thing they messed around is added some ching pong apps which i had to disable.
I believe there are a few things i can't seem to remember now.
