1. The signal is excellent.
2. The flashlight is decent and comparable with other flashlights on flagships.
3. The Android clean experience is exceptional. And Sony excels in battery optimization.
This is an outstanding phone. To clutter, perfect form factor, brilliant design, very powerful, superb display, there are so many pluses. I simply don't understand why would people consider otherwise. I fully recommend it.

I have been using it for 2 weeks now and honestly please don't buy this phone. Sony is terrible at making phones. They have 0.1% market share for a reason and now I understand why. I looked at this phone and some reviews and I was like the camera is not great but the phone overall looks good because the hardware is good and they didn't mess with android at all, what could possibly go wrong. But here are some serious problems with this phone:
1. The worst part is SIM signals. It is barely catching 4G signals and keeps on shifting between 3G, 4G, 4G+ all the time on auto mode and you already know what happens when it keeps on shifting frequently (it just doesn't work).
2. The flashlight is extremely dull. It is only useful to you when you are lost somewhere in a cave and it's completely dark (zero photons) and you should be able to just see things with the flashlight on.
3. They literally didn't mess around with android and I thought maybe it's a good thing atleast for me because i wanted simplicity but its definitely not. Optimizations are definitely required like at least a little bit of battery and memory optimization features and stuff like that. The only thing they messed around is added some ching pong apps which i had to disable.
I believe there are a few things i can't seem to remember now.

I have experience many brand phone apple Samsung ect... But in my opinion this Sonny phone is the best phone I ever use ! Totally satisfied my needs and quality and reliability !

samfishy, 13 Jun 2023does the japanese version have green line issue ? In Asian countries they sell used Japanese models. Yes, very few owners have faced this issue. Not even 1% as per the info I collected from social media, because I am planning to buy it.

No one seems to be selling the Global/US ones and the non telco JP version. It sucks but I can't risk on the TW/HK ones and that the Xperia 1 ii are 2x more expensive.

No problems with screen for me on Xperia 5 II. Will take it for a walk today. It appears that my initial camera judgement was not precise
Also I've come to realize that the aspect ratio is more or less the same as on my phone (21:9 vs 20.5) So I might have needed to by Xperia 1 II instead for less keyboard annoyances

Bought this phone as a second one and its very bad
Wanted to see whats all new Xperia is about
-Phone vibrates like crazy when playing audio through speakers (dynamic vibrations disabled). Makes it unusable
-Camera is good ONLY in manual mode. In auto misses exposure and focus (especially bad in low light).
-3 different callers reported "like robot" audio quality on my side. Voice notes are also oquite bad
-Flashlight is so weak might as well not exist
-Did not update OTA. Had to spend 2 hours updating manualy (SO-52A)
-Could not disable back button on on-screen keyboard. Sony just forgot to add this setting
-21:9 makes keyboard too narrow in portrait and too wide in landscape orientation
-2 years of security updates (out of date since nov 2022)
-Unreliable show all apps gesture
What is good about it:
-Smooth and fast
-Very good for one-handed use (idk if you would want to use this anyway)
-Audio and audio features
-Built like a tank and premium-feeling
-Fingerprint scanner in power button and dedicated camera shutter button
-Battery life
You might like it but compared to S20 FE ($200 cheaper at launch) it is inferior in almost every way
Or any of the upsides of this phone have a downside which nullfies it
I am sad to say it it but Sony is sure irrelevant and is irrelevant for good
