I loved this company for all the tech they made but...this phone 5 iii is such a shit .. paying 1k £ for the phone that is overheating only when using the messenger video calls?) Really? Overheating I mean I am afraid that it will melt inside. Is lagging when battery is low and the battery is s*it, I am using it daily and need to charge it 2-3 times a day ... That is not a phone for 1k... Very disappointed in this phone.
The fast charging is a joke, is fast but is overheating and when is overheating is lagging and 120hz screen is of and it transforms into android phone from 2005! DISAPPOINTED

The phone becomes untouchable or it w... moreevery flagship with 888 overheats. cuz the chipset was made by samsung, which they don't even know heat management. tsmc knows better than samsung. you can see the tests, 865 is made from tsmc and 888 is made from samsung.

Not sure how high it gets on camera usage but I believe the 888 processor is the one to blame here tbh. It even heats up without doing anything on some occasions which is concerning to me. I doubt the next generation of Xperia phones is going to be even better thermal wise because the 8Gen1 seems to suffer the same issue the 888 had unless Sony started to care more towards cooling. Well it's kinda unfortunate that Qualcomm ditched TSMC for Samsung which I assume made the 888 and 8Gen perform significantly worse in thermal management.

dragonov, 25 Jan 2022did battery performance worsen? Hadn't noticed any changes on the battery. Slightly reworked battery settings menu. 15% off battery for 1:50 screen time of social networks random scrolling.
Also now notifications "minimize" toggle now doing actually nothing. If in 11 android such notifications were grey and smaller than other and separate in notifications list, now they are the same as others have their app colors, full-size, but only 1 line of text (as most other silent notifications), and they are now not separate from other silent notifications. Previously they had some usefulness.
Now I'm bored with turning off all useless notifications from all apps. While bringing more controls they've brought more distraction and chaos to that menu.

Want to give impressions on Android 12 update; one step forward, one step back. What Sony claims to introduce:
- Capture everything on the page: Don't think will ever use
- One-handed operation: I think it was with 11? but no need with Xperia 5 III
- Extra dim: now screen is as dim at night as it should be, but smearing is making impossible for scrolling or any moving black colors on screen (problem with oled technology in general, not so much with sony), Should be turned on and off manually (I forget to turn off)
- What’s accessing your mic and camera: fun
- Approximate location: fun, but you should remember which apps should have this preference reassigned, because by default they use, what was in 11 version
- Sharing Wi-Fi using Nearby Share: have no one to test it with
What unmentioned by Sony:
- New notifications: looks worse than previous, animation is not so good. Less controls in shortcuts
- Google pay moved from power button menu to controls in notifications
- No adaptive colors - was waiting for this since android 4, was introduced in android 12, but hadn't managed to sony phones
- Chrome: you can't have no default browser until you disable it. I need two browsers to ask which to use for links, one is for work (was Chrome, now Chrome beta) with all accounts and Google Pay, second is Firefox with default opening in incognito for random stuff, that I don't trust much.
- Slight changes in UI in Basic camera mode.
this is European version.
