mariubrlu, 27 Sep 2023I don't think I can ever get used to that distorted sc... more21:9 is very good choice when we speak about VideoPro app because you got 16:9 preview "screen" horizontaly (without holes/notches nad UI) and 16:9 for UI verticaly (u got many place for convenient operation with hands/fingers).
Second. Most of Hollywood movies are recorded in 21:9 (anamorphic format).
When it comes to browsing the Internet, it's a matter of preferences (for me 18:9 is a little comfortable).
Samsung Flip series is 22:9 and no one cries.

Sure, 18:9 is also begin crawling in, I don't deny about it. However, do you forgot about Sony Pictures? Because, Sony has delved into film industry longer than they did with telecommunications industry, they know and follow industrial film standardization very strictly until now, and in times of ecosystem integration intracompany and standardization, what Sony did adhere is to transfered, interconnected and implemented every elements from other Sony division, something people has been asking for years after Sony has split up every division back to be independent to keep Sony afloat back then, especially about Xperia. Like they used to be independent, now they are working with every possible divisions like Alpha, CineAlta, Pictures, Entertainment, etc. Bringing 21:9 aspect ratio is one of them, as it's the last almost untouchable standard aspect ratio that's not been slandered because of trends. 16:9 has been slandered deeply, Sony like has no choice at that point.

      I don't think I can ever get used to that distorted screen. While the standard today has moved from 16:9 > 18:9 (=2:1), Sony makes a cinema style screen with aspect ratio of 21:9 (=7:3).

      This phone has a 6.1" advertised screen size while the usable area is only 5.1". You load up a UHD video from odysee and you realize that half of the screen is useless. The same goes with any kind of media content. The thing is that this is just a marketing technique to be able to put in the specs a bigger screen than what it actually is.

      Physically, the device feels more like a remote control rather than an actual phone.

                Do not learn Sony how HDR should look, because:
                1. In most reviews Sony OLEDs with normal HDR10 beat all Samsungs (with HDR10+) and even sometimes Pansonic.
                2. Sony was the pioneer in HDR. First mobile HDR sensor was from Sony. Sony was co-creator of HDR technology
                3. Last top movies like Avatar and Top Gun was recorded with Sony Venice camera.
                Do even know that all LG OLED panels (TV) has RGBW structure and that structure is from Xperia P (it has RGBW LCD panel), that Xperia that most people laugh many years ago? You know why those panels has this structure? For HDR.

                    It's an utter disappointment. Looking for microSD and headphone jack, I'd suggest to get a A52s even if used. You'll really get 90% of this at 1/10th of this price. Trust me, it's unworthy paying over €900 for something with no telephoto camera and static refresh rates. If you pay so much for a phone but get barely little more out it's absolutely unworthy

                                      Rumors are that this is the last Xperia of this series Sony might reset the naming scheme in 2024 still unconfirmed btw but usually Sony doesn't go above 5 generations for a series
