Why they ditched the tele lens? Oh dear this makes it significantly worse than mark IV .... They should keep tele And ditch the ultrawide. Xperia V used to be best value but that's no more the case :(

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2023Sure, but it's quad Bayer, which has half the colour i... moreEven if you look at camera tests, you can see that it's just as good if not better as the telephoto on the Xperia 5 IV. Also no, that's not true. The main sensor on the Xperia 5 V uses Exmor-T sensor technology, meaning the transistors are under the pixels. Not only does this double light gathering in general, it also means that the only impact a Quad Bayer setup has on light gathering, is the small spaces between the pixels, which is almost negligible especially with larger sensor sizes like this is. Because electrically, it can behave both as a Bayer sensor and a Quad Bayer sensor, it has nearly no impact to image quality with Exmor-T. In fact, as per the pixel arrangement, you'd think it is a Bayer sensor, the only difference is that each colour pixel is split in 4. This requires demosaicing, but at this resolution (48MP) that nets almost no loss in image quality, especially because of how close together the pixels are thanks to Exmor-T technology. I highly suggest you do some research before leaving a comment like you did, because Exmor-T is genuinely a huge breakthrough compared to Exmor-RS.

Like I said, the only reason why Japan is getting so much hate, because they are being OPEN and TRANSPARENT about this situation!
Some people are just so clueless!! 🤣

Anti-Japan Hate..... 🤣
Why don't they use it as drinking water, use for fish ponds, water their agriculture, even use it at pools, etc. rather than dump it on the ocean eventually affecting other parts of the world aswell, this could be even worse than Chernobyl that is still until now redioactive after 3 decades.

Firstly, the reason why Japan is getting so much flak because its very transparent about this.
Secondly, the water that Japan is dumping has been treated over a decade.
Thirdly, the water that Japan is dumping is considered safe by IAEA safety standards, so there's very little reason to be worried about this.
All this outcry, is nothing more than Anti Japan hate lol...

djamesz, 05 Sep 2023That's bullshit... I bought one and it's unlocked... moreJapan locked down phones are hard to unlock bootloader if ever it is available & would mostly have you pay just for it to be unlocked, limited network bands, & picky on firmwares usually unable to flash stock global roms on it.
That's why it's cheap but you have to deep dive just to be able to use that phone if it doesn't work on your country Network Provider & even if you go custom rom, it's gonna be even harder & needs more things to do.
Network providers in Japan does this because they only provide phones on contract & not prepaid & once said phones stopped getting supported Japan users usually just throw it & replace with a new one. Japan is one of the most top producers of e-waste even now dumping nuclear water on ocean.

At this price (1000 Euro) I find it difficult not to buy a Samsung S23, where you get more versatile camera setup for 300 Euro less.
But this comes at the cost of missing 3.5mm jack and a lot smaller battery.
Sony have to price their devices lower in order to compete with the other manufacturers.
Their phones look interesting to me, but I always end up choosing something else with similar specs which costs 200-300 euro less.

Perfect for most case... moreAh, I hate docomo variants. I was tempted to buy a cheap one from Aliexpress but realized they are all docomo.
In fact, I bought a refurbed Z5 a while ago but it turned out to be the JP variant. Could not unlock the bootloader so custom ROMs were impossible, let alone rooting. Ended up selling it. And that's when I learned never to buy cheap refurbed Xperias anymore, as they're most likely the docomo variant.

I Just Read, 04 Sep 2023In answer to your question UFS 3.0 which is up there with ... moreCan I not form my own personal opinion about something without you coming after me? People aren't mass produced, not everyone has the same opinion about anything and everything.
This phone costs 1000 eur, for that price it should have everything, and I mean absolutely everything. The Xperia 5 IV was just like that and that cost significantly less than this, sensor zoom, or not, they removed one camera and made the phone a lot more expensive, I simply don't like that. Does that mean the phone is bad? Absolutely not, but in my opinion it's overpriced.
Not to mention that 90% of any given comment you make is just gibberish.
