I bought my defective unit in hongkong sometime September 19,2015,
I'm bringing it back for an upgrade to a higher model plus adding money for the difference in price..,if they refuse I would surely complain to the Hongkong consumer council

I am starting to lose hope it will be fix soon. I had this phone for a month. The camera feel great but it is buggy. Had at least 10 random shutdown. Worst was twice a day. I am alway on the go and at places without WiFi thus depending alot of Wcdma as it provide faster Internet service. I contacted the Sony in Singapore and waiting for their reply regarding the shutdown.
Might be forking huge cos of z5 if this issue is not fix

I purchased a Sony mobile phone model M5 on the 11th September this year. Within a week, the phone kept shutting itself down and was impossible to switched it back on unless it was connected with a charger, and battery power appeared unstable. I took it to Sony repair center on 29th September and they replaced it with a new phone.

Within a week upon using this new phone , again, the phone kept shutting itself down and was impossible to switched it back on unless it was connected with a charger. I took it back to thier repair center, and was told I have to wait 3 to 4 weeks before it can be returned to me. I found this totally unacceptable as expected from a brand new phone.

I searched online and found many people are experiencing the same problem with this model of Sony Mobile.

I have requested a full refund but was refused by Sony HK. Their company does not have a customer service to deal with my complaint and their repair center urged me to file a complaint to the Hong Kong Consumer Council.

AnonD-447954, 21 Oct 2015Good news!! I monitored my phone after changing the setting... moreGood to hear that thex! Hahaha! We solved the issue at last! Hope everyone will follow our simple tweak to ease the problem somehow.
I agree with you, the idea of returning ng the phone if the shutting down issue still occurs after the Android update. Because what's the sense of having the Lte network if it has no use with this phone. But I have still a good vibe that marshmallow will fix that. I hope if they release marshmallow sony will also release a firmware update. Fingers crossed. Good to hear your news thex!

I monitored my phone after changing the settings to GSM only as you've suggested and it works for me!! No more shutting down issue. Battery life is OK for me and heating issues not that I know of maybe after prolonged hours of videos yet but I don't often watch with my phone so no comments on that but really glad to hear that it's all good for you. I agree, guess now we will have to wait for the marshmallow upgrade which as I have read will be available for us around January 2016 and see if lte or wcdma settings will shut the phone down. For now I will just have to bear with the GSM. However if after the upgrade, with lte causing shut down I will still highly likely be returning the phone for Sony to replace it. Do you think this is a good idea?

And see if it works.what settings are you using now though? Yeah I agree, perhaps defective first few badges but is Sony going to continue to manufacture more phones of this series after correcting this issue replacing our faulty devices with the new badge or are they going to just turn a deaf ear to our problems?are they even considering to stop the production?too bad there is not one thing we can do to at least alert Sony so they will do something about it so that there will be no more victims of this faulty badge. I see that it takes lots of luck then to have m5 without any issues like yours. I will get mine replaced but not so soon no option, can't be back to have it replaced so I'll have to learn to work with my phone and hopefully by then Sony would have corrected the problem and have more properly working m5 out there.so good to know there is actually one out of so many m5s that has no issue.
