Shian, 20 Oct 2015Thex, i will still have to bring my unit to the hongkong se... moreFew things here Shian, 5th xperia phone am I not getting you right here that you've got the m5 replaced five times or you've been using the xperia series all the while and this is the only xperia model which gives you problems like this. Gosh, that's the problem with buyers like us who bought it in some other countries having to go back to where we bought it to have it replaced, quite a hassle really. Changing the settings doest work for you? Have you tried it yet? Hmm, I reckon you are giving up on this model completely, but from this discussion here, 'anonymous' has got it replaced and apparently is working well but still choice is yours. For me z5 like the other z series will probably be having heating issues,im not quite sure I have been reading opinions about z5 but apparently those forums aren't as informative as this and there were lots of arguments etc unlike what we have here trying to help each other out, so good job guys!!

AnonD-447954, 20 Oct 2015Yeah as discussed it solves 50% of the shut down issue for ... moreim stating a non biased answer.as i was also a victim of a defective unit of sony m5. but now with this new unit they gave me (the 3rd unit to be exact...too much hassle to handle) im relief so far with the performance. its almost a week now and no shut down issue had happened. and the battery is greatly better than the first 2 black version they gave me, which drains rapidly. i hope i will not encounter any bugs with this one. try to watch the video of ammo loaded on youtube about her M5. she also doesnt encounter shut down issue. but she experienced camera bugs and some other app bugs. i think the defective units are a batch of models that are manufactured in a same period of time or date. thex try using GSM only connection.

I bought mine September 20, went home to the Philippines two days after.i will be back in hongkong by end october. I will insist on an upgrade to Z5(no other choice)and will add money for the difference. It is useless if they even give me a brand new M5 replacement because they do not have a solution to the problem..i will only end up with the same one. I had to buy another new phone because this M5 has proven to be useless. This is my 5th Xperia phone and this M5 has made me really disgusted with Sony.

I bought my m5 about 1month ago, nothing problem with my m5, but any something make me uncomfortable when use this phone. When open application need internet connection the phone temperature is slowly rises and become hot. battery life is poor, my first phone is Xperia t2 ultra, i have 2 days battery life for normal used for once charge. But m5 only 8hours fornal used.
I think this phone support USB OTG like other sony Xperia ( ex z2, t2 ultra) but my Xperia m5 dual not support. Disappointed with this condition, because i often use this feature for copy data.

I brought Sony M5 Dual for 5 days, but Im facing a few problems
1.)Problem with camera, unable to save into SD card after picture was taken, and phone was lagging and hanging for long time after used the Sony camera apps.
2.)Mobile data connection was very slow till unable to open any website usually.
3.)Try to reset and erase all the data inside phone and restart the device, but afterthat my phone was always off by own with battery in enough situation. Hence its unable to open by on/off button. Only when charged with cable its can be on.
Feel dissapointed with Sony M5 after brought, I swear will not buy any of Sony phone anymore.

I just did a factory reset after experiencing severe hang and reboot since I bought 3 weeks ago. Now without using SD card, uninstalled several default apps and only installed WhatsApp. Sadly, Im still experiencing randomly rebooting. Sony please says something about this piece of junk

So frustrated, this phone had been hanging and rebooting all the time especially when I was travelling to other country, couldn't even turned on in the airport even with charger attached to it. The phone then drained all its power to zero as I couldn't do anything about it. When I recharged again and pressed the combination power and volume up button then only it can be turned on. When took picture, it will hang. When switching 3g and WiFi network, it will hang. When it rebooting, it will hang. Is there a way to refund from Sony? Cheated by the camera spec to buy this phone.

ph, 19 Oct 2015i hope this trick works for your phone thex. do you mean it... moreYeah as discussed it solves 50% of the shut down issue for me because as long as I have stable 3g signal or stable WiFi connection then phone works fine. I realised exactly when or what makes the phone shut down unfortunately. It is when I am in places where there is no line ie when the phone struggles to get some kind of connection, as we mentioned before this. Correct me if I am wrong I'm assuming this replaced new phone is problem free?

I have the same problem of randomly shutdown. I have been told by the support center to reinstall the software via PC companion. Now, I have to wait and see if there is still a problem. Have anyone here try this way yet?

Xperia M5 Phone turns itself off, will not turn back on unless it has been put on charger. Issue occurred only after not even 10days of purchase. Very much disappointed with Sony. :-(

ph, 19 Oct 2015Hi shian! im also from the philippines. can you try changin... more
This is simply wrong. Sure, Lollipop 5.0 has lots of issues but constant auto-shutdown is NOT one of them. No other Sony device have been affected by this, let alone other brands.
This failure is exclusive to Xperia M5, has nothing to do with Android 5.0.

I had tried changing to not lte but shutdown still happen. I currently testing if disable stamina mode would solve. As it only happen when data is on,WiFi seem that is does not crash the phone.
I had another issue which would be the snap chat keep crashing and cause my phone camera to be unavailable and require a restart. Does anyone have that issue as well?
