is there sony experia called m5+? am confused. somebody wants to sell one to me but information about it is scanty. can somebody help with info about it and what to look for before I buy it? At least I have seen that the battery is removable and in the phone is the model description M5+. its also dual sim. is it original?

Reinstall the OS Via PC Companion (Windo... moreI have already performed the reset twice as suggested by Sony when I first had problems, updated it to the 3.3 latest version it doesn't really solve my problem, but thanks for the detailed steps you provided, I'm sure some other people might be reading that and hope it will help them somehow. I am now trying the selection of the wcdma only mode and see if it solves the shutting down problem.Exactly!! Mine is black and it really surprises me how the colour of the device makes a difference. But I am truly happy for you that it is now functioning normally for you because apart from this shutting down issue I am truly satisfied with the device tbh,great camera etc. I was also like informed about Sony hopefully coming up with a new firmware but if not I will have to wait until next year when I am back from Europe to my home country before I can get my phone replaced:'( please do continue to update us after observation of the replaced phone if the problem still persist.

does someone here knows where or when will there be an update of android version for M5 to 5.1.1? they say 5.0 has really bad bugs with it.

i read in a forum that try turning of the LTE signal might fix the issue.

Reinstall the OS Via PC Companion (Windows Computer):
Open the Internet browser on the computer
Visit https://support.sonymobile.com/globa.../pc-companion/ and install PC Companion
Once installed, open “PC Companion”
Click “Start” under “Support Zone”
Under “Phone / Tablet Software Update”, click “Start”
Connect the Xperia M5 to your computer via USB
On the computer, click “repair my phone / tablet”
Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the OS

Reset via Dialer:
NOTE: Another method you might be able to use for resetting the Xperia M5 is through the phone’s dialer. To try this method:
Open the “Phone” app
Tap the “Dialer” if necessary
Enter *#*#7378423#*#*
A menu should pop-up on the screen. From there, tap “Customization Settings” > “Reset customization”
At the “data will be cleared and factory data reset will perform” message, tap “Reset customization and reboot”
Your device should now reboot and reset all data

You're welcome thex! by the way im not leon. leon posted the somewhat solution i shared with you guys. Anyway , have you tried updating the firmware? did you use the PC companion already and update the phone? i know there's an updated firmware i thinks its 3.0.1.3.3. the factory reseted firmware is 3.0.1.2.3, As of now my new M5 doesn't show any symptoms of shutting down. i drained the battery to 0 before charging it now. Thex is your M5 black in color? the retail store replaced my 2 black M5 with this white version and i was surprise because heating issue only occurs when playing games in a span of time. before my first M5 which is in black easily gets hot. i hope someday we'll enjoy this awesome phone. lets keep our heads up!

But I have been using the 3g network all the time and it still shuts down although if I am having stable WiFi connection it doesn't shut down. And I realise it shuts down only when mobile data is switched on and probably you were right when the phone is struggling to get a stable connection or something I presume. Please do keep updating us if there is any further software or firmware update which can save us all from this mishap. Thanks a lot

i am from Johor malaysia and bought sony m5 on 24/9. Yesterday 14/10 phone suddenly shutdown and cannot switch on anymore. No display totally. Feel annoyed and sent phone for repair they said out of spare part need to wait for KL. So i think its factory defect and it should not deploy its stupid to spend on such lousy QC device. Sony should feel shame and compansate as i can see many here complain its defect. Regret to buy M5 :(

THIS IS HOW YOU CAN CHANGE 4G INTO 3G.
Find "Network Mode"
Press the menu icon.
Press Settings.
Press More....
Press Mobile networks.
Press Network Mode.
Select network mode
Press WCDMA only, GSM only, WCDMA (preferred)/GSM or 4G (preferred)/WCDMA/GSM.
3G (UMTS) or 4G (LTE) enables you to achieve higher data speeds than when using 2G (GSM).
If you select WCDMA only, your phone can only connect to 3G networks.
If you select GSM only, you can't achieve high data speeds.
If you select WCDMA (preferred)/GSM, your phone automatically switches between 3G and 2G provided that you're within range of a 3G network.
If you select 4G (preferred)/WCDMA/GSM, your phone automatically switches between the three network modes provided that you're within range of a 3G or a 4G network.
Exit
Press the home icon to return to standby mode.

Hi guys im from the philippines and i just want to share my experience with sony xperia m5.
i guess it was September 28 2015 when i bought the fone from a retail store. first 2 days it was all good. and then the shutting down issue occurs. the battery drains fast and yes it over heats. went back to the retail store to replace the defective one and after a day same result. so i went back again then they took my phone because they will send it to sony service center for some check up. after a week and a half of waiting. they called me and said that it a software issue that is bugging everyone. they gave me a new sony m5 (in white) . until now im observing the phone. the good news is that i dont experience as far as now the heating issue. I SAW A SOLUTION IN ONE OF THE FORUMS I VISIT. PLEASE READ AND I HOPE THIS WILL HELP US. COULD EVERYONE WITH SHUTTING DOWN ISSUES TRY THIS ONE AND UPDATE US IF THIS THING WORKS? HERE'S THE SOLUTION: I found that if you turn off the 4G or LTE. Use 3G only mode. There will be no more sudden death. The death situation happens when the 4G signal is poor,cell phone trying to change the signal to 3G repeatedly. I hope that it is the software issue and it can be solve at the following firmware update. (written by leonwang)

Battery life drain quickly. Though without using phone, battery life is draining gradually. How can battery life be so long? Poor battery. Anyway good camera.

I'm really upset had the phone for three days and it is the first phone I have bought in three years and it blacks out when I use the flash and won't open the camera it say error then I have to restart the phone to enter the camera and it then says extreme temperature will force shut down of camera? Anyone else have this problem? ? :(
