AnonD-269162, 14 Aug 2014Well totally agreed and also wit the Xperia Guy! Without ... moreNot everyone is comfortable with trying to root or letting someone else try to root the phone, which is necessary to install a cyanogenmod rom. Also, the cyanogenmod roms available are nightlies and are not stable. And yeah, I don't fully expect it but I still think that our xperia sp will get kitkat. After all, sp's predecessor, xperia p, was also launched with gingerbread (at a time when google had already released ICS) and given 2 major updates to 4.0 ICS and then 4.1 jelly bean. Similarly, sp was launched with 4.1 when 4.2 was already released by google. We have got only one update, and sony is almost done with updating their 2014 devices (only the xperia m2 is left), so xperia sp being an older device will get the update after m2. The update support period ends in october, and im sure by then or latest by november the phone will get the update as sony has apparently already started working on it.

                    And one more thing!
You'll arent happy with the jelly bean update!
And kitkat update reviews of sony phones haven't been great!
So why are you'll asking for a dirty update n thn you'll will b asking for a bug fix! So relax and take what you ll ve instead of a still worse one!

AnonD-223503, 13 Aug 2014Hey Mr Xperia SP....kitkat was officially released way long... morewell it's true that sony will provide software support up to Oct 2014, they may provide 4.3 firmware .207 as the last update instead of kitkat. and I'm glad that your optimistic about the kitkat update but don't be mad on sony if they won't release the kitkat update, as said previously they did not promise this in the first place, so they don't have the obligation to announce that kitkat won't be available to our xperia sp. for example they did have a lot of phones xperia s, T, J, SL, TX, tipo, miro all those phones did not get the latest software available during their time and sony did not announce that those phones would not get the latest update because it's not their obligation, their obligation is to provide software support for the phone for a period of time it can be a new firmware version but not the next android version.

AnonD-290731, 13 Aug 2014Okay, but Sony could have done so without mentioning it on ... moreyes i would agree that that part is kinda confusing for optimistic buyers, but at least they corrected themselves and changed it to under investigation. we should be grateful that sony actually considered SP to get kitkat, in any case it won't happen we should accept it. :)
