Based on DxOMark Labs for Mobile phone cams Samsung galaxy S7 Edge which has been announced 6 months later after Sony Xperia Z5, it has total score 88 points with only a point ahead than previous Sony Flagship Beast. if you are looking for premium quality and a real unique performace simply go for SONY.

X Performnce is a step in the right direction. Hopefully their September flagship will have bigger bezel than iPhone 4.

First look for the small interactive green rectacle on the iso 12233 image in the left screen in the camparison window. You can even click on the colour chart next to it, move the green rectacle down to the pink fluffy ball. See how disgusting the quality is from a z series camera, now compare how clean the fluffy ball is against a 950. The 950 has far better edge quality compared to z. Done and dusted.

            Reading the White paper regarding X Performance I couldn't find water resistance IP6x.. While in Z5 paper there was IP68! Also on their site.. It seems Also no 'two days battery life'.. At this point, the X is a better choice for battery life and storage (64gb)

              I see some people complaining about the bezels of this phone & want them reduced as much as possible. Well, I woud like to point out that bezels are important to hold the phone horizontally while taking pics/video or playing game or doing anything in landscape mode basically.
              I have Z3Compact & while it almost perfect with its small size, the small bezels mean that my fingers covers camera when I try to take a pic quickly & I have to change my grip. Also, part of my palm brushes the screen or pulls out notification bar while playing a game or watching the video.
              So having some bezels is necessary.

                  If the A6 2016 (silly name) turns out more expensive that the Xperia X, well that in itself is understandable, it has a bigger screen and battery and better processor after all.

                  But the simple fact is, if these devices are to be considered mid rangers, then either of them launching at anything above £400 at the most, is nothing but an absolute rip off by both Samsung and Sony.

                        A device that as yet has no price that I can find in the UK, and also one that if does launch at anything above £350 then I would advise people avoid like the plague (neither would I consider it the best option at that price).

                          I may pre-order anything I like the look of, if the S7 didn't live up to my expectations, well I have 14 days to return it, no questions asked, which I have done in the past with many devices from many different oems (the Z5 included).

                          With you though, it's Sony, Sony, Sony and only ever Sony, as such, you daring to label me a fanboy, makes you the aforementioned hypocrite.

                          Not that I credit you with the intellectual ability to understand that logic.

Videos capture nice exposures, pleasant colors, and the performance of the autofocus and stabilization features is excellent. Detail preservation is good in bright light, and noise levels remain low even in low-light conditions.

                              On the flip side, a jitter artifact is visible in low light, where loss of detail is also noticeable. Color shading is slightly noticeable in all light conditions, and is more pronounced in low light.

                                      Its a shame really that a new itteration of s7 camera is better than S6 one by a mere 1 point, gaining overall only on video not photo, meaning it remained exactly the same photo quality...
                                      Isnt it a shame?
                                      Z5 was a bigger improvement over its prevoius z3+ tested, by 5 points, and z3+ was 3 points above z3 with same camera tech
                                      I expect Midrange X will be an improvement over z5 too, so...

                                        And the fact is that an over rated, Instagram filter cam has knocked the Z5 of the (joint) DXoMark number 1 spot it once held....that doesn't really say much for the Z5 as a camera solution now does it???
