XPERFORMANCE, 19 Aug 2016no sony xperia xperformance in south africa??? :-( why ????SONY high end phones from MWC... well I could say that those are not actual flagships and come only to selected markets only , and are being released in the first place because of the demand in home country - Japan ... they like new phones every six months or so .., therefore a summer release to a market of Z2 , Z3+ and XP . true flagships come at IFA along with compacts Z1 , Z3 , Z5 and have much quicker release to global market... hope you see the pastern...

anyway there will be soon new SONY devices announced at IFA on September 1. and according to all leaks and info so far will have this specs :

-KUGO or Xperia XR - 4.6 inches : 3GB RAM , 1080p , 2700 mAh battery (seams a lot like successor to Z5 Compact , and SONY already used before letter ''R'' in Xperia ZR whcih is compact or mini variant of original Xperia Z )

-KAGURA or Xperia XZ - 5.2 inches : supposedly is coming with 4GB RAM and QHD screen...

RockStar2005, 20 Aug 2016I like the brushed aluminum back of the XP more than the Z5... moreIt looks like you have very limited knowledge about phone. I will find the easy way to explain it.

    For now Check this out.

With the same network xp got 150mbps, S7 get 200mbps. S7 has dualglass design like Z5. So dual glass is better design.

Stop overhype plastic on XP, signal strengh is still in question, but plastic cheap is abvious.

And HTC 10 has premium full metal unibody NOT only flat METAL BACK. It means the frame and the back of HTC 10 are made from one piece aluminium.

DenisXD, 19 Aug 2016snapdragon 810 runs great on Z5, it actually runs the best.... moreDenix, go check the endurance rating of z5, lol.

        *see your point

Avan Dr, 20 Aug 2016Z5 has more premium build, to make metal frame is costier t... moreI like the brushed aluminum back of the XP more than the Z5's glass backside, though I did really like the chrome/mirror-colored Z5P too.

I've read several reviews that said that plastic/polycarbonate is better than metal for signal reception, so I dunno. Well that's a matter of opinion.........the HTC 10 has a metal back too, so again I don't really so your point as that is very much considered a flag ship phone dude.

RockStar2005, 19 Aug 2016 Yes Ali, the Z5 is great but overall it's NOT better than... moreZ5 has more premium build, to make metal frame is costier than flat metal back. Metal frame needs more difficult cutting.
Plastic side for improved reception? LOL. The low end phone has plastic side and plastick back, better?
Large space glass back is far better for signal than plastic side only, z5 also has nfc chip on the back. Best placement.

The dual glass design is premium design, only for flagship and budget flagship or premium midrager, like S7, mi5, honor8, one plus X, A team.

While metal back is only for low end. The only phone with the same metal back design is honor 5C.
            http://m.gsmarena.com/huawei_honor_5c-pictures-8074.php
The most applied design is metal back sloped to side, like redmi 3, honor 5X, galaxy on7, medipad t7 etc.

Yes Ali, the Z5 is great but overall it's NOT better than the X or XP (which are identical in terms of camera, screen display, etc), as PROVEN in this video:

                https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=g5SJq-Jag20&app=desktop

And plastic sides make way for IMPROVED reception over metal sides, in case any one on here forgot this is a PHONE we're talking about.

DenisXD, 19 Aug 2016snapdragon 810 runs great on Z5, it actually runs the best.... moreOh my God oh my God oh my god, i wish i can say what ever i want, but i can't :(, xperia x plastic??? Glass better than plastic? How much? Sharp edges to protect phone? Still saying x series overheating :(, for the second time they are not, but overheating control program " overheat security " is adjusted earlier to send overheat report and shutdown the camera and dim the screen and restrict hardware performance, did you hear about overheat control in Xperia smartphones? You are not making any sense, you are trying so hard to prove that z5 is better, it is not, but it is excellent device overall, but not better than both xperia x and x performance :).

AnonD-481725, 19 Aug 2016First of all qualcomm 810 is the king of overheating issues... moresnapdragon 810 runs great on Z5, it actually runs the best. Z5 is the best s810 phone, tested!
Z5 is what? plastic? glass back glass front and metal ring.. Where's the plastic? Ah you must mean x, it has a plastic ring doesn't it?

What? the edges PROTECT the phone in case it falls. x doesn't have any protection against falls, meaning less durable design, meaning more worries on your head. Being practical is the case here, in the long run z5 has way more surviving chances than any x performance or edge phone.

So x performance can record 4k video ya? So why it overheats by recording just 1080p? let alone 4k which it doesn't have. And why would I need to fu.cking root a flagship device to get it to record 4k? it's a flagship device isn't it? Why it doesn't have 4k recording from it's box?

So if x and x performance handle heat better than z5 does as you say, why they overheat even by recording just 1080p video? please enlighten me.

DenisXD, 18 Aug 2016WHAT?! The better design is the 2,5 glass? It's not. x is... moreFirst of all qualcomm 810 is the king of overheating issues, z5 overheats more than x series but the problem of vedio recording in x series that they are adjusted very early to report overheating then shutdown the camera, regarding to the build quality and design, when metal was better than plastic??? The 5 inches display is definitely better than 5.2 in one hand usage, many people complaining about the sharp edges in z5 series they are very harmful to the hands.
Being a z5 owner doesn't mean that it is better (-_-).

X Performance is a better phone than z5 right now, its got sd 820, qnovo battery with batterylife about equal to z5 (reports are very inconsistent, some praise, some dont), better cameras, better screen, sturdier design...
And yes, it can record 4k video through 3rd party apps or by root, and has h.265 going for it.

So, it is better, newer phones do tend to be better.

But z5 is great too tho.

no sony xperia xperformance in south africa??? :-(
                            why ????

DenisXD, 18 Aug 2016what?! Dude s7 has a much better battery life than both x a... moreOn paper? No....... on paper the S7 is faster since it has 4 GBs of RAM and the XP only has 3. In real life however, the XP is faster and doesn't lag.

I don't even bother looking at benchmarks anymore, or if I do, I put little stock in them. Again, I'd listen to music with my headphones using the S7's MicroUSB connection, and it'd skip like EVERY 3-5 minutes (despite having more RAM)! SUPER annoying! Then I got my XP and one night I remember I went like 3-4 hours STRAIGHT with the same setup, and it didn't even skip once. NOT ONCE! And you guys actually question that new article stating that Sony's Xperia phones have the best software? That is why I don't listen to the XP nay-sayers, because I know the truth first-hand.

Do you guys even own or have held the XP in your hands? I keep hearing specs & stats that you're reporting from official sources, but what are your own PERSONAL experiences with the XP? Do you even have any??

RockStar2005, 18 Aug 2016The S7 is a great phone DenisXD, but it's also somewhat ove... morewhat?! Dude s7 has a much better battery life than both x and x performance. it's at the level of z5's battery life. s7 is also smaller than x performance, and it has a bigger screen and a bigger battery. Sony can't even make a proper flagship anymore. Z5 is still the best Sony phone, like it or not.
x performance is faster? on paper yes, but since snapdragon 800 it doesn't matter. Phones since then never lag and run flawessly whatever you throw at them. Dont get fooled by antutu and benchmarks, there is no actual difference since 2014, except in 1 or 2 seconds difference. Big deal right? No.. it's not a big deal at all.

Stop defending what you can't defend. s7 is well ahead x performance as a whole.

AnonD-481725, 18 Aug 2016Dude even xperia x is much better than z5 in terms of overh... moreWHAT?!
The better design is the 2,5 glass? It's not. x is more prone to breaking now.
What? overheating? Dude you are ridiculous! x performance shuts down the camera even by recording 1080p videos. Z5 can record 1080p videos until it runs out of memory. The only way to overheat Z5 is 4k recording. Something both x and x performance missing because they overheat even by recording 1080p lol.
That's poorly optimised software, get it? if x performance was a flagship it wouldn't have poorly optimised software, and we wouldn't see a new flagship in november, a true flagship.

Keep moaning, x performance is not a flagship. Z5 is a flagship!

DenisXD, 18 Aug 2016I agree with ya. I don't get this obsession with phones in ... moreYeah we've been a few rounds you and I, and have to be honest, you give as good as you get :)

And as we are both level headed individuals we can agree at times also, like in the case of the XP. Now you know I don't hold the Z5 in anywhere near the high regard you do, but it's clear now that the XP does not represent any where near the forward step needed for Sony to be competitive with 2016's best.

In fact, it may have taken a few steps back in some ways when compared to its predecessor. I really hope Sony have something big on the horizon, otherwise I fear for their future in the mobile space, because one things for sure, their competitors are not standing still.

I still firmly believe Sony have a place in the mobile market, but they desperately need to take the drawing board, flip it over and have a good think.

That kind of opinion is trolling according to some however,.

RockStar2005, 18 Aug 2016 The only thing you're promoting is yawns. No it's not ... moreTalking of yawning, after going through that little tirade of your I now just can't seem to stop.

We do however agree on something it seems, I have said for a long time now that DXoMark's results are a bit iffy. Even though they scored the 3 devices you mentioned the same, the 'reality' is that the XP is the best because you say so...you can't be that impressed by DXOMark either then eh?

As for reviewers 'assuming' stuff, that's not how it works. Fanboys (like yourself for instance) like to just assume sh*t, reviewers draw conclusions based on the findings of a review...get it??

The sunlight legibility of the S7 screen is higher than the XP, the dual pixel auto focus tech and shot to shot times are quicker, the low light performance is better. The reason a lot of people are saying these things is because they have been demonstrated to be true.

Those two videos I posted in the link to earlier, go watch them, the guy doing those reviews could likely bump his head and momentarily forget more about mobile tech than I'd wager you'll ever know, I'll go with his take on reality over yours any day.
