It is the best and only one in its gategory.
Al those phones that cost the same are bigger, so worse than this in that aspect. So if you like to get smaller, you have to pay the price. I expect this one to be one with highest battery times for a long time!

Design is near identical to the X compact, very lazy. its a little smaller. They cut some corners.. No FM radio, same old 2.0 Type-C 1.0. Hopefully the battery life + camera make it a decent device.

Typical Sony, their mobile division has often displayed this kind of arrogance with regards pricing, it's held them back.
At £399 this becomes hard to argue with. At £499 though come review time you'll see a lot of sites and tech journalist recommending the like of the Oneplus 5, Nokia 8, even the G6 which can be had for similar numbers over this.
Or they'll suggest saving a good £100 and looking at perhaps the Moto X4 and such.

If sony had to pay google a fee to enable radio support, you can understand why they, and everyone else would drop it.

So basically an updated z1c/z3c/z5c with snapdragon 835 and better camera? I would have liked it if they basically kept the z5c more round edges and squeezed in a 5" 1080p screen in the small body.

I have X compact and now I can rest for another year without worrying about xz1 compact! Design is almost the same and although this new guys is a beast in cpu, it wont show a big change in overall performance because what are users gonna do with a small compact phone other than texting/web browsing/taking good pictures?!
lets see what sony does next year when it drops support for x compact

I don't mind the bazel of xz1 compact. This is superb phone with superb spec. This phone has everything I wish for, best processor, sd 835 ! 4 GB of RAM, compact size 4.6 inch, good display, great battery and greater battery management. Water proof. Enduring material for rear and gorilla Glass 5 for front panel. What else one can wish for?

Will definitely get one if have dual-SIM hybrid variant. Wish it to have 64GB for dual-SIM hybrid variant just like the old Xperia XZ.
