And for video watching it is not that important, but for video and photo quality and zoom in on a mobile screen it works great.
      It certainly has its advantages, and certainly better to have a 4k screen than a 2k screen on smartphone for the same price. That is, if the resolution race is actually important to a user.
      My stance is that an excellent FHD screen for mobile is just the best golden standard today...for best performance/visual content combo.

        It already obvious on some camera tests out there. ISoCells on those phones are just bad. Cameras performance is worse than on previous S8 phones. Especially the selfie one.

            If they put a thicker glass on front/back for better sturdiness it will be heavier. If they put a better material battery with better alloys and protection it will be heavier, If the graphite plate inside is thicker for better heat control it will be heavier. If better vibration system of DVS is 3 times bigger than the usual one it will be heavier.
            Look up Witrigs XZ2 dissasembly guide...there is no extra space inside, just more material. And the phone is as solid as it gets.
            So there is actually a very good reason for it to be somewhat heavier.

              Sony seems the only one givin users the options.

                  No other company wants 4K on a phone. The human eye can’t distinguish between 1K and 4K on a small phone screen. So, 4K on a phone is a useless gimmick ! 4K is great on a large 55inch TV screen.

                  Sony camera sensor is the ONLY part made by Sony in is phones. All other parts are outsourced from different companies around the world.

                  Sony camera sensor is only used by Samsung flagship phones in the USA and Chinese markets. International models use the Samsung ISOCELL camera sensors.

Then it's useless on other usage. And I don't even care who invented the 4k resolutions if there's no apps that can utilized 4k resolutions.
                    And that face unlock feature that you mentioned is already a pure bias! Have you check the specifications of xperia ZL in the first place?

On a samsung device such as the S9+ has the perfect location for the fingerprint scanner which doesn't require your fingers to stretch just to reach the scanner. Meanwhile, the fingerprint scanner on the sony is located below the middle on the back of the unit. I've tried using the XZ2's fingerprint scanner. And is certainly more difficult to scan your fingerprint if it has to bend just to reach it. Not all users around the world holds their smartphone at the bottom part.
                      Why aquarium only when there are other spots to take shots even when the flash is dual LED true tone flash. This is the first time sony has made an RGB-IR camera sensor on a portable form factor. How can you sure that it would be useful in a very dark areas if there was no actual test? I've seen the demo video of this camera from Sony XZ2P trailer. And until it has a reviewer which shows that the camera works in dark conditions. It would still stay as a gimmick from sony.
                      And you consider that the 6.0 on a 158mm smartphone not pocketable and fits in one hand usage?
                      You don't get me at all when it comes to IP ratings. Take a look at this chart:

                      From the looks of it. Having one IP68 means it's already a waterproof smartphone that can be directly drop a water from a faucet to the smartphone itself. Having a two IP ratings like IP65/IP68 means that there are some locations from the smartphone that is vulnerable to water damage when immersed or directly drop a water on a faucet.
                      2k display is not a conventional/standard display? LOL! Majority of smartphones have 1080, 1440p, and the rare 2048 resolutions. 4K only exist on sony. And most of the time, you can only used 4k resolutions on a 4k camera and video recording, downloaded, or streaming content. So when it comes to games. Most of them aren't optimized for a 4k resolution. Tell me. Was there a 4k resolution optimized android games.
                      If you are in a tornado alley in north dakota. You would know that majority of people out there have smartphones with radio. Because once a tornado hits. And the powerlines and the internet lines are out. Can you access the web? How can the people watch the news or listen to a radio report if their smartphones have no radio?
                      Do I record 1 hour 4k video recording? Yes. Because I used to record all of the teachings from the instructors at schools for my training at my job. So it's not just 1 hour. But 1 hour and more minutes. And just so you know, One hour of 4k video recording eats 24GB of storage. And since this is an hour and more minutes. It tends to eat 30 to 40GB of storage more if the instructor gives an additional teachings. So if a 64GB smartphone only has 50GB usable storage or less. How does a smartphone able to transfer all of those bigger contents on a microSD card if the file size is more than 20GB? And if you think that 400GB of microSD is already available in the world? You're completely mistaken! Most countries only has certain vendors that are selling MicroSD cards that has 256GB of usable storage or more. And most of these microSD cards that has 256GB of storage is already expensive. Here in my country. The priced of a 256GB microSD card already cost $230. 400GB microSD card isn't available in my country yet. And if it did become available. Nobody would purchase that microSD card which may cost $300 or more! Just so you know. For a priced of $230. I could already bought an 8TB portable external storage from seagate! So you think that microSD card is always a convenience? You are wrong!
                      On the Android P beta side. Why would you join on a android P beta if its still not a complete program? You think that android P beta is stable?

Most S9s use ISOCELL cameras, while some are using Sony (same like how they use both Qualcomm and Exynos processors). In the future they may even stop using Sony sensors.

As the desi... moreI don't think S9+ has the perfect sensor arrangement because the user have to stretch their forefinger and thumb all the time and the flat back glass cover doesn't have the great fit in hand and of course it is more slippery then every time should stretch the finger/thumb to access notification bar and navigator button and fingerprint scanner just frustrated. Meanwhile the XZ2 with 18:9 display ratio and the XZ2 Premium with 16:9 display ratio, both device back fingerprint scanner are almost the same position so when you hold the phone at lower position the fingerprint scanner is the perfect placement and just swipe your forefinger from left to right will get into the centered fingerprint scanner, this is easier than a stretch actions compared to the S9+ with glass flat back cover,
                              Dualtone LED flash is totally a outdated feature, for example when you taking photo at aquarium the dualtone LED flash will reflect dualtone flash on the mirror furthermore the color of the fish inside the aquarium and the color of the people which stand at front of the aquarium is unnatural and incorrect because the dualtone flash pulling by the reflects from mirror. While the RGB-IR sensor will take advance in analysing the color which people eye cannot see and restore the true to real life colors.
                              Why the display size is 5.8 instead 6.0 because it is more pocketable and fit for one hand usage.
                              The IP rating is different with IP certificate, the rating are... IP65 IP67 IP68 but the IP certificate is the TESTED qualification, it just like a driver has a truck license and another has driving license and truck license, all these have to pass the different test and the driving requirements are also difference.
                              2K display is not a conventional/standard display, it just like when printing we have A4 size and A3 size paper but the unconventional paper maybe have another form size. On the other hand, the 4K display just like a photo printing requirement, normally 200pixel/inch can produce a simple image quality on paper, a 300pixel/inch can produce better image details and more than that can refine the details the results is premium in richer color and level of detail and texture.
                              I think the Android P can analysis how many hour your are using the radio in real life.
                              Answer me do you take 1hour 4K video recording? If yes prepare the 400GB micro sdcard yourself, If not prepare a 64GB or higher capacity, that's is personally preference and flexible, a micro sdcard is much more safety and convenience if you want to transfer or backup the 4K video large file.
                              Personally, Samsung quality still under probation. Their commercial over trustworthy.
                              I haven't seen XZ2 Premium but the XZ2 show that, it is a Japanese style design.
                              Xperia Home is lightweight and simple and less crash compared to other competitors, Wait... is it the reason Samsung still don't join the Android P beta?

As the design location of the camera and other sensors from the S9+ is well perfectly arranged. Meanwhile, I've already tried using the XZ2. And I found out more difficult because its in the middle on the back of the phone. With this unit having dual camera. The Fingerprint scanner is lowered again. And most of the time. The only finger that you can use to register is the index and the middle finger. If the fingerprint scanner is higher. With this model. How can you even reach the fingerprint scanner if you don't wanna slip it on your hands?
                                    Adopt RGB-IR sensor? LOL! Which smartphone do you think has this kind of technology? As far as what technology goes. Having a Dual LED true tone flash is much cheaper to manufacture than the camera itself.
                                    Increasing the screen size of the smartphone is only a personal preferences and it has no meaning? LOL! Then why is the screen size of XZ2P is a 5.8 inch?
                                    When it comes to IP ratings. You really don't know anything at all! Having one IP rating is enough to considered it as a waterproof smartphone! The S9+ has IP68 rating. Which is already enough to be considered a good waterproof smartphone. Having two IP ratings may confuse the buyer since they don't know if its safe to be used underwater or not.
                                    Having a 4k display is always better than traditional 2k resolution? Then tell me. How many apps do you think is optimized at 4K display? Even games don't even run on 4k display!
                                    Of course you don't use the radio. But for others. They do.
                                    Having a 256GB internal storage is an insane suggestion? Then tell me. How many shots of photos can you take at 4k display until you run out of storage? Or how about recording at 960FPS. Do you think that it would only eat MB of storage space? Getting a 400GB microSD card is already too hard because of its limited availability and pricing.
                                    Stop bringing the old news article regarding the note 7 to FE fiasco. Have you even see any battery explosion issues from the note 8?
                                    LOL! How can the color change from different angles if the only color that you would see is chrome black and silver?
                                    XZ2P may participate in Android P beta program. But why would they participate if the program is in BETA? What if they receive an update and made the unit go bootloop?
