I really don't like these narrower 18:9 displays that have become the fashion. I read stuff on my phone, so the wider display makes reading easier. I watch movies and TV shows on my phone, so the 16:9 display is better for that. And I want a flat screen as the curvey edges messrs with my eyes and reflects light all the time.
I only see advantages to 16:9 and disadvantages to 18:9, which I've just come to hate. I don't want a crappy curved 2.5D displays, nor a display with the corners rounded -- give me proper corners, let me see all the pixels!
My favourite phone for form factor was the Nexus 6, and all I want is a Nexus6 shape phone with the latest technologies. Sony have mostly done that here!
I said many years ago I'd never buy another Xperia, but Sony have a customer in waiting for this phone. I want it now, so I can get rid of this Samsung S8+ I've come to dispise.

      i'm always love Xperia but Xperia never understand me :( I like Z series very much, but the bezels little bit annoying, well it's okay then, still most beautiful design i've ever seen. Slim, shiny, sleek. Also X series untill the XZ1, yeah still gorgeous with metal / polycarbonate on some type, slim, and bezels still okay. Then XZ2 appear, thanks god bezels shringking and nice screen to body ratio, nice screen aspect ratio, BUT it getting thicker. WHHYYY.... Oh another one, XZ2 Premium :) still thick, the bezels expanding again, & it looks like using old 16:9 aspect ratio(?) i'm done, thanks for everything Xperia. It's time to move on.

          Foxtrot2Novmbr, 10 May 2018The design is almost perfect but still needs a following fi... moreMove the camera a little bit higher and Move the fingerprint scanner a little bit higher show you don't know the difference between stretch your finger and Move your finger to press the back fingerprint scanner, it is all about personal preference, if you like to hold the phone from the middle of the phablet go for S9+ but you will always stretch your thumb to press the navigation buttons on the bottom front of the phone and stretch to press the notification bar on the top front of the upper position. While the XZ2 Premium is much easier to operate the phone from handling the lower position of the phone to access the navigation buttons and it is also easier to press the back fingerprint scanner on it back because not need stretching the forefinger, when press the back fingerprint scanner just swipe forefinger from the side to reach the centered fingerprint scanner area it is much easier than stretching or move out your forefinger like S9+, furthermore when unlock the phone in landscape mode the S9+ unlock is more challenging but the XZ2 Premium is still easier, this is a best position all the way, when handling the XZ2 Premium from the middle position of the phone properly is for access the notification bars or access the volume rocker by thumb, that is very reasonable and well designs.
          Dual LED true tone flash is an outdated feature, now and onwards will adopt the RGB-IR sensor for better image color analysis and restore the truth to real life image data.
          Increase the display size to 6.0 instead of 5.8 is not a technology so it is only for personal preference it has less meaning.
          You make some confusing on water-resistant here, the XZ2 Premium have TWO IP certificates which is IP65 and also IP68, this is definitely better than only one IP certificate, the cheaper OEM can only process IP68 instead TWO qualification, as we know most of the time people wash their smartphone using a tap water the pressure is lower doesn't same as immersion condition so the IP65 qualify to get better protection to against low pressure liquid.
          Either Oled or IPS display both have Pros and cons just choose from your personal preference but always remember don't ever going overrated. nowadays a quality image reproduction is much more important this is why 4K HDR display is always better than 2K unconventional display.
          I don't use the Radio more than
          Internal storage should have 256GB is an insane suggestion but for a maximum 400GB extension storage can be more flexible for individual demands and 64GB internal storage is more than enough, 128GB could be even better.
          3 years and it is also a personal preference not a new technology. May I ask you why you also love outdated technology?
          Battery capacity 3540mah is well balanced in every part. 3800mah must be the idea from Samsung, as we know Note 7 get flaws and turn into a FE.
          You suggest should've power ranger colors?? let's when will you tired to only one color. As I know the XZ2 Color will change from different angles and it blend the environment natural color as well, it is definitely the best fashion in design!
          XZ2P Started as android 8.1 not 8.0 maybe is the development started earlier than XZ2 so they had save the time to not bring a minor improvement 8 to 8.1 and direct bring more and even more stable android version updates coming soon. FYI, XZ2 has participate in Android P beta but Samsung still unknown.

                The design is almost perfect but still needs a following fix on the design such as:
                1. Move the camera a little bit higher.
                2. Move the fingerprint scanner a little bit higher
                3. LED flash should've been a Dual LED true tone flash.
                4. Increase the display size to 6.0 instead of 5.8
                5. Instead of IP65/IP68. It should've been IP68 directly since it has no headphone jack!
                6. Display should've been an O-LED display not an IPS LCD Display!
                7. Internal storage should've been buffed up to 256GB of internal storage!
                8. Radio should've been included.
                9. Battery capacity should've been 3,800mah according to its size.
                10. Should've have power ranger colors.
                11. Started as android 8.1 not 8.0!

Other flagship phones have proven to be much lighter AND also durable. Sony could've made the XZ2P smaller and lighter, without affecting display size. Seems like they're not fully utilizing the inner space. XZ2 has more bezels than the average flagship, yet it has a small 5MP front camera when the XZ1 had a 13MP one. Other companies can fit better front cameras in smaller bezels, so why can't Sony?

                      A phone doesn't need to weigh 236g to call it a "premium" phone.

                        So I dunno what to say with regards to your friend. lol But my experience was VERY MUCH in-line with GSM Arena's.

                        That's cool on the X! Glad you're liking it and that you got it for a good price too! Yeah its battery life isn't very high either, but it's still higher than the X Performance's. lol

                        I actually like the new design. While I wouldn't say it was my #1 choice, I think it still looks classy and nice. I will agree on the "more practical" because the back is curved to give you a more comfortable feel while holding. I don't know if I like it more than the XZ Premium's look, cuz that was a masterpiece IMO, but it's def close. So for the most part I agree with you, but I might find it more appealing than you seem to I think. I do wish the XZ2 Premium's design could've been 18:9, but oh well. We'll see what happens, but I really love my V30, so I dunno if I will upgrade or not. We'll see. The camera would be a prime reason for me to do so, cuz I think it will be INCREDIBLE (dual lens!!).

Furthermore nowadays most of the OEM will use cheaper and lighter and less amount of materials to making a smartphone because can reduce the cost.

                                        btw i have the xz premium and would say the 4k is an overkill, never needed it. I think the device is awesome and i will wait for the next Sony premium. skipping this one
