AnonD-753170, 08 May 2018Hi, Can any one help me in selecting Sony Xperia XZ2 Premiu... moreNot released yet. On paper it looks like great all-rounder... Ofc it has some pros and coins... Possible dealbrakers:
No 3.5mm
LCD screen
16:9 aspect ratio
Incredibly fat device
Probably (i dont know till sony dont sell it ) not the best camera for its price.
Since this is first dual cam from sony dont know what to expect but it will lack AI features
Possible Go-for:
UHD resolution ( i dont see a benefit but other users say they do)
Great speakers
Good battery
SD card slot
-----------------------
Design language is pref thing, someone like, someone dont but one thing is for sure. It's well made device.
And from my point, i dont see anything Premium here...
In my Dealbreaker lines , there is no WORST thing i mean , camera would be good,3.5mm isnt dealbraker for everyone, some ppl like thick phones... so it's not "Bad" for everyone i just say that some of that can be for you...

Hudinited, 07 May 2018Yes you are right about resolution but you are wrong about ... moreI'm not talking about 4K displays. I was talking about the P20 Pro's FHD display, which lacks clarity due to its pentile pixel arrangement and the large screen size.

RockStar2005, 07 May 2018Hey Ali!
Oh I got rid of that a while ago. Unlike the us... moreNice to contact with you again, i am Sorry for your x performance, and you still have a good taste picking up smartphones like HTC 10 and V30 since you needed to switch from Sony smartphones because of the lack VoLTE for T-Mobile costumers and not picking IPhones and Galaxys overrated smartphones blindly, but regarding to the battery life i am not sure what was your issue because my mate tann is claiming a very good battery life with his x performance.
I am using now the regular x since one year, i bought it the 64GB for 285$ never been happier, the battery life is not perfect but very good.
What do you think about the new Sony design? i thing it is less appealing but more practical, what do you say?

Sony xperia XZ Premium is the best from Sony, love it. This new ones xz2, xz2 compact and xz2 premium are good phones but not unique design, placement of fingerprint sensor too low, lack of 3,5mm jack, no, no, no...too thick, bleeh...maybe Sony designers ar retardet or something...

Hudinited, 07 May 2018Yes you are right about resolution but you are wrong about ... moreI used to think that too, then I saw the XZ Premium at my local Best Buy last fall. I went on YouTube on it and pulled up a 4K HDR video. It was BEYOND incredible. It made other phone screens look like a joke. To say it looked insanely real is an understatement! You really should go check it out if you can. Or just wait for the XZ2 Premium to come out at Best Buy and check that one out.

Anonymous, 07 May 2018Wrong, its all Sony fault. Sony chose the SD845 chip. Maybe... moreNot sure why you keep saying it's Sony's fault. They're gonna choose the BEST chip out there or else no one will wanna buy the phone, esp at a flagship price.
Well yeah, but that's how ALL companies do it. Samsung makes the Exynos chip (which not all markets will get like U.S.), and Sony makes the camera sensor. No company makes ALL its own parts that I know of.
Well F the other companies then. lol And I completely disagree. I used to think that too, then I saw the XZ Premium at my local Best Buy last fall. I went on YouTube on it and pulled up a 4K HDR video. It was BEYOND incredible. It made other phone screens look like a joke. To say it looked insanely real is an understatement! AnonD-481725, 06 May 2018hello there, how is your x performance :) Hey Ali!
Oh I got rid of that a while ago. Unlike the usual Sony phone, it had AWFUL battery life, and it really wasn't as great as I'd initially thought. Since then I'd owned the HTC 10 for about 10 mos, then last Oct I upgraded again to the LG V30, which I still have today. INCREDIBLE phone! The Quad DAC is #1 (along with a very strong amp), the battery life is beyond insane, and overall the phone is just great. The camera is great except in low light it's not the best, but still very good. With enough light, the pics typically are great.
I very much would like to get the XZ2 Premium when it comes out, but as long Sony Mobile IDIOTICALLY refuses to certify VoLTE for T-Mobile customers, then I will continue to refuse buying their phones. When I got my X Performance 2 years ago, my area didn't have T-Mo VoLTE yet, so I didn't care. But last summer we did, so I am more selective now about the phones I get. A phone having VoLTE certification on T-Mo's network means I get access to the prized Band 12/700 MHz spectrum, which has twice the reach and FOUR times the ability to penetrate through walls & buildings. If HTC and OnePlus can offer unlocked phones that have this, then Sony Mobile has absolutely NO excuse not to do it. So we'll see, but if I end up keeping my V30, then I'm fine with that.
Anyway, how u been? What phone u on now?

Anonymous, 05 May 2018No lol. S8 and S9 have QHD+ (QHD for 2:1 displays) displays... moreYes you are right about resolution but you are wrong about clarity ... Simply you can't see difference on 6 inch.... only way to see difference is to take screenshot and put it on 4K PC monitor

Anonymous, 07 May 2018Wrong, its all Sony fault. Sony chose the SD845 chip. Maybe... moreShould've used another chip? SD845 is easily the most powerful chip they can get. None of the smartphone chips support more than 4K resolution, and I'm sure even most desktop GPUs don't.

The problem is that Sony only makes one part for its phones, the camera sensor. All other parts are outsourced from numerous companies around the world.
No other companies want 4K on a phone as they realize how useless it is. The human eye can’t distinguish between 1K and 4K on a 5/6 inch screen.

Even Barbie and Ken ... more18:9 is screen aspect ratio and is a phone technology.
Maybe you should ask Barbie and Ken. Don’t be afraid to ask me for any help.

Hudinited, 05 May 2018wait a sec ... i miss something ? P20 pro , S9+ , S8+, V30,... moreNo man. NONE of those phones are 4K HDR. It's not Sony's fault. It's a LIMITATION of the SnapDragon 845 that it can't do 4K HDR in 18:9. Those other phones are 2K at best. Right now Sony is the only company I know of making 4K HDR phones.

Hudinited, 05 May 2018S8 and S9 have 4K screens bro... But its useless without 16... moreNo lol. S8 and S9 have QHD+ (QHD for 2:1 displays) displays. Z5 Premium, XZ Premium and XZ2 Premium have UHD (aka 4K) displays.
And the P20 Pro? FHD+ display. Because of the low resolution, huge display and the Pentile pixel arrangement, text will look jagged and not clear. They should have used a QHD+ panel. The display of the P20 Pro can't compete with S9 and XZ2P.
