The Ericssons of the 90ies was ok but not as good as Nokia. Teh quality was probably better in Eircsson (the old ones were made in Norway) but ease of use and so on was not their thing, Nokia ruled.
Later, when it became Sony Ericsson, it is my opinion that they were better than Nokia, especially in quality and durability, but also in other things. There has been so many great SE models over the years, i know i am not the only one who say "why did we waste time in Nokia when SE was best all along?". My youngest sister is still reminding us that she always had the better brand and never wasted time in Nokia (shes too young to ever have owned a pure Ericsson but she probably remember them)
Sum up: Maybe the quality of SE came from Ericsson, but the usability and features came from Sony. SE Cybershot and SE Walkman anyone? They are Sony brand names used in SE phones and they are iconic.

Even now they are getting of to a bad start. Xperia Z and ZL for example. Both these devices really don't offer any the others doesn't. And that was the problem with Sony from the get go.
Now I completely understand what Ericsson when they said Sony was holding them back. You can only hope that Sony sees what's being written here and get their act together. Because they do make some amazing phones.

They are... moreIm sure this phone will help their earnings in PHONES, but the sony conglomerate as a whole may be a different story. I had a look at their hybrid VAIO tablets and new VAIO touchscreen ultrabook last week, yeah its good, and with those prices they dont need to sell so enourmous numbers to make profit. Whata more intereesting is that so many stores had these expensive VAIO hybrids, i think VAIO is on the way up and its easy to understand. Our newest laptop is an Asus, wtf is all i have to say, it wasnt that cheap but its bad, bad. We could have goten a Vaio E series at same price. For sure i will get a Vaio T next time, and i think many buyers think like i do, they are willing to pay more for better products.
Sony should (and probably will) pull more out of the TV market, and products related to that. They should focus on the higher end markets, like 4k products, Sony is alwys best when they lead and the others follow. These are high profit products.
Back to Sony Mobile, i think loveable products like Xperia Z is pawing the road for the coming midrange phones, some of which has already leaked in benchmarks. If sony can have volume sales in midrange and good sales in high end phones the profit will be big. Xperia E and so on should disappear, they should make lower midrange and upwards, nothing on the lower end. We have a Tipo in the household, it works fine and isnt terrible and it looks great but it lacks the finesse and consistent performance of for example Xperia U (Which we also have in the household)

No doubt it's a great phone ,and sony is one of the best and really the one who can compete the called iphone and in my openion it's even better , but unfortunatly I can't get one as it's too expensive to me and I can't afford it anyway thanks for this technology .

To the nokia fanboys, Isnt the lumia 920 a much bigger phone? A tiny bit shorter but otherwise its so incredible huge (and heavy), it totally dwarfs the Xperia Z viewed from top?bottom and sides. Insane, Nokia need to hire an engineer soon, even one will do, instead of those monkeys who are currently in charge of fitting parts into their phones.

Sony has made many, many mistakes from the the very start. From releasing dual core phones in light of just about every other company releasing quad core phones to releasing waaaaay too many models with similar features. Thus confusing potential customers as well as those who review them. Hell, no ones was even sure which phone was the actual flagship device!
If Sony keeps going on this way, they are going to find themselves in the same boat as HTC. Which is another company that I hope pulls their act together before it's too late. :(

It's also Sony who needs to play a game of catch up, hoping that these to new devices get them out of the red and make them more competitive in the smart phone market, not Samsung.
In case you haven't been keeping up with the news, Sony's company is sinking. I really hope that they become successful with this device. Because android can always use a few more good soldiers. ;)

Only one problem I found with this phone: after watching the video demo I think the white one really looks beauticool and shiny, while the purple one looks a little bit funky, I wished they choosed darker color than what I saw in the video. Or maybe it is just the viewing angels who made the color became more saturated, lol.
