the best cell phone I ever had...but the kit kat update....causing all kind of troubles..but I am not sure that I can blame sony.....

take it easy guys, any new update will have some problems specially this kitkat since lot of changes is included. but i trust sony, its simply the best in providing stable updates so they will fix it all soon :)
z1 is the best i've ever used

Im happy to see lots of people are being honest about the KitKat update, both on Z1 and Z1 Compact. i was going to buy Z1 Compact but was worried about the KitKat update, especially since Nexus users are saying Google is using KitKat to force people deeper into their ecosystem, and i personally use as few Google services as possible.
Sony destroying the quick toggles in KitKat and all the bugs i hear about were the last drops for me, i bought a BlackBerry Z10 instead, amazing phone, almost all Android apps are working as they should, its like having the advantages of android without any of the disadvantages, not to mention that Z10 feels faster than most Android flagships at half the price of Z1 Compact and has the overall best and fastest camera i ever used, i get better photos with the front camera than i did with the main camera on many other phones.
So thanx for honest opinions guys, i guess i never coming back to android, even though i kinda loved my Xperia Z.

I updated to android 4.4.2 kitkat last week but upon connecting my z1 tonight Sony PC Companion says there's an available update for my device (but no version specified). Kitkat on Z1 sure is buggy but i hope this update will fix the issues but if not I have no choice but to flash an older version on my device. Anyway I'll send my feedback when i'm done updating. Try yours too.

PROS:
*Superb build quality
*Eye catching design that puts almost every phone to shame (Seriously, I've had even iPhone users and S4 tell me how great it feels and looks)
*Runs a more solid and polished version of stock-android. (Walkman, Album and Movies Sony stock apps are among, if not the best looking out there, go check them out)
*Sony-quality sound output (Bass booster and surround sound filters)
*Triluminous Display engine makes 720p movies look like they are 1080p adding sharpness and color, amazing for movie lovers.
*Small apps add extra functionality unique to sony phones (Allows you to open, for example, a small floating browser window inside any other app, even games)
*Battery life is great for gaming. Lasted me around 4 hours even with intensive resource graphics games like Dead Trigger 2 and Batman the Dark Knight Rises. Less intensive games last around 5 hours
*Water resistant (Did I mention I spent 2 hours in the shower playing NFSMW?)
*Camera auto mode takes great pictures in any light or movement condition without much effort.
CONS:
*KitKat update made the camera menus a bit laggish
*Big bezels, screen doesn't feel as big as on the LG G2 and Galaxy S4
*Non removable small apps toolbar in the multitasking screen. Not such a big problem, but ruins a bit the polished experience being so thick and bold white.
*Glass build makes it scary to handle for butter-handed users. Once again, this is a VERY serious issue. Ive heard from some reviews this phone could stop working even from a fall of 1m over concrete because of the hard aluminium non-shock absorbent casing.
Overall, this is an amazing phone if you don't mind it being so polished. This is NOT for kids or maybe even teenagers, since it offers a lot less "tricks" than the S4 in terms of software tools and extras, but overall it all just makes it faster and a lot cleaner. Also, do remember this is a VERY PREMIUM phone, and as sturdy as it feels, DO NOT DROP IT. Aluminium is not bad for absorbing fall hits. Again, this is not for kids, and a bumper case for butter handed users is mandatory. And lastly, before you start comparing this has less battery life than an iPhone, do keep in mind this has a much larger screen a much more powerful processor. If you want a powerhouse with a great screen to play upcoming HD titles like World of Tanks Blitz and Modern Combat 5, pick this. Otherwise, there are many more other great phones like the iPhone and Z1 Compact.

Tanya Dennett, 26 Mar 2014My screen has a crack in it, only had it for a month. Are t... moreNormally i would say no. Depends where you keep your phone. If it is in the back pocket of your pants and your are sitting on the pone then craks can occur.
Other than that no normal reason. I have dropped my phone from 180 cm height an no crack on the screen.
Try to exchange your phone and don't update your software to kitkat. It is fulls of bugs and lacks optimisation

Z1 with Jb was a very good phone but with kitkat is miserable.
The battery is also weaker. The launcher now behaves strange. After closing a call the phone gets stucked and then opens applications randomly and for some camera isn't working at all
Stay on jb for now.
Ps: very poor customer care as i tried to chat with them and after 30 min they disconnected me. First Sony phone and last. I will try htc, Samsung or lg which seems to be better day by day

Guys, kit kat update has anybody received n Pakistan its OTA or through PC Companion. Whats main diff or mental satis'ction. Price of Z 2 r abnormal, it happens everytime. Thing fr Sure Sony has no resale value nor exchange mechanism, How can one sell old one at half price ad buy new at double, this way continous loss, except retain fr 3 yrs. Forget abt sensations.
