i personally are waiting for the kitkat update, and everytime an update was released I had to use my p.c...
sony companion and had to use very good internet. the updates are big. so therefore its best you prepare some internet data of about 1.5gb when the kitkat update is out and use companion.

Can i update my z1 via wifi or mobile data without connecting it on a computer via SONY PC COMPANION when 4.4 kitkat comes out?
Like OTA that's what I've heard.

vikram krish, 10 Feb 2014If you gonna buy immediately go for z1 or else if you can w... moreAbout your advice to that guy, i cant recommend he buy Z1 if he need a phone fast, at least wait for the Z1 Compact, due to its superior battery life. Screen On time is way too low on Z1, in fact even lower than Z despite having a 30% bigger battery and same size display. Get Z1 Compact or wait for the Sirius announcement later this month, or buy another phone than Xperia.
If Z1 Compact isnt already available and have to buy at once, like tomorrow, then get Xperia Z, perfect size and super slim, super fast with no lags and it beat the Z1 in gsmarenas web browsing battery test, and its 30% cheaper (here at least). Or get another brand.

I wish they also include a 5mpix 4:3 option (automatic downscaled, using the whole sensor) as 8mp is overkill for social media photos and the next 4:3 option is only 3mp, thats exact same as the resolution of a Retina-branded iPad.
I believe this 5mp option using the whole sensor would be able to compete with the 5mp photos from Lumia 1020, when you see how fake colors the 1020 produces its hard to believe that its currently the best. Imagine if the $2300 (house only price) Sony A7r produced such colors and then was awarded camera of the year? An absurd idea, just as absurd as the 1020 is currently the best there is, yet its color reproduction isnt even good enough for social media, all photos has to be manually edited on a PC, using very expensive software, to get natural colors. Sony can beat that if they want to, why dont they?

i need to be clear with you over afew issues.
seen that sony is going to stop making p.cs...
personally have no problem with that coz I dont own a vaio.
now back to the main point.
the z1 as already seen and known if u have issues Iam sorry about that otherwise for me really awesome.
iam waiting to see if htc makes a 5.0inch smart phone especially the m8. then could look there. but happy the waterproof feature works well an the photos amazing.
at home we own a sony bravia and its great the display of sony really lovely.
