Sony Xperia Z1 Compact

For the very expensive price asked of the Z1 compact we should know exactly what we are buying and Sony has not been in the loop with current mobile phone technology. A strong frame properly attached to a gorilla glass or sapphire display is what we expect from today's premium phone. Sony is offering plastic glued ta a frame and the glue can be loosened with a hair dryer. What about the heat from charging? Will this loosen the glue? A very poor product from Sony.

Slayer, 16 Feb 2014You will have to be incredibly stupid not to know the diffe... moreso it is really a plastic and not a glass then... kinda dissapointing really... but i would still buy it. understand why people are mad with Sony and not with this phone as they announced it in their whitepaper that it has a glass back. the first waves of this phone they sent to reviewers also received the ones with glass back. plastic or glass i'm still buying it because of its specs and size.

And no, I don't have to post anything, I bought the phone, suggest you go do the same people or if you are a cheap skate go play with one in the store! The only criticism, if you can call it that, like its big brother, the black which I bought is a fingerprint magnet! Loving it....tho'.

Doesnt matter if glass or plastic, its still the best phone on the market and we will still buy it. Those who whine about plastic will not buy it anyway, they should go and play with their low spec lower midrange One Mini.

I just picked up mine... morei doubt .. you really wouldn't know if the back is glass or plastic just by looking or touching it... well it is not actually rumor as posted by z1 users in xda, the back is plastic and if you could provide me a link i.e sony's whitepaper stating that the back is glass... reviewers from other sites already mentioned that back is made ofbplastic. there's also a forum where a sony employee reaponded and told that the back is plastic... im just saying... i'm just a bit disappointed as it was first announced that the bavk is glass bit now you can no longer find that whitepaper saying that. All that is says now is the front -glass. I would still buy it though i prefer z1f if only it would be available internationally.

I doubt whether you can tell if the back of the z1 compact is thin plastic or thin glass by looking, touching, or holding the phone.

I just downloaded and read the white paper for the Z1 compact. It says the front is made of tempered glass bu information on the back panel is suspiciously absent. So it may be plastic. I owned a Z1 for a week or so before knowing it had plastic tape over the front glass which scratches easily. I would rather own a phone that passes scratch tests shown by video.

The back is GLASS and not plastic. Stop spreading rumours. It is not that difficult, go to a store and use your own hands and eyes, instead of following other's opinions like mindless sheep!

Saw now in a Scandinavian carriers website that Z1 Compact Black has outsold iPhone 5S 16GB Silver and is now at FIRST PLACE. And on 6th place is Z1 Compact Lime. Not bad at all, given how popular iPhone is in that area it is a remarkable achievement.

DealBreaker, 14 Feb 2014Have you guys checked the quality for primary camera compar... moreIts not only bad anyway, look at the color poster, then click on the bottom magnified picture to bring up the whole poster as shot by the Lumia 1520. Look at those terrible colors (not as over saturated as Lumia 1020, bad in another way), and i was going to say bad skin tones but then i realized that Lumia 1520 has no skin tones. Its terrible, no doubt the Z1C has far more pleasing photo quality unless you zoom all the way in. I have to say that even the over saturated photos of Lumia 1020 are better than 1520.
And finally, get a Sony RX10 if you want a great camera, you will not find that in a phone. I would, if i had $1300 to spare, but i dont, so i may wait for the Sony a6000 (the successor of the NEX-6) at $800. Or i get a DSLR.. Need to wait and see if Nikon D3300 can beat the Sony A58 in photo quality first. you can go to image resorce dot com and read the A58 review if you want to see what a 20 megapixel sensor can do in a real camera, and then come back and tell us if thats what you expect from a cellphone =)

"Unfortunately, it's not all roses and sunshine. We are quite unhappy with the lens quality of the unit we had for review. It reaches maximum sharpness only in the center and the rest is noticeably blurry. Of course, that may be due to the pre-release status of our unit."
