We will see if disabling Google Now can still fix this problem, having a Whats New coming up at every swipe upwards is not an option but im sure Sony is glad you enjoy it. A little browsing on XDA will show that you are the only one though.
It can be fixed without root using pm but this procedure is loosely related to rooting, you have to install it via a USB hack. Thats no more an option than rooting is.
Its ok with me, last weeks pricecut of iPhone 5s 32GB was $150, its both smaller and lighter than Z3 Compact and has a "higher" PPI. Im not forcing Sony to sell me anything and im sure my Xbox One will be just as happy with that Sharp TV i looked at instead of the Sony Bravia we had decided to buy, plus that the lower price of the Sharp pays for the higher price of the 5s over Z3c. Yep, i see no problem here anymore, you are right, its not a dealbreaker, its just a Sonybreaker.

I think if snapchat is running in the background, it sometimes makes the camera glitchy. It's like the stock camera app and snapchat sometimes interfere with each other.... happens like once over two weeks or so. Resetting the phone or just waiting a few minutes has worked.

xperia tab has the IR blaster and so should xperia phones..

There seems it could be a real dealbreaker here, some are saying that after KitKat 4.4.4 its no longer possible to disable the Whats New app from hijacking the home button without rooting. I will FOR SURE NOT buy any Xperia phone again if this is true.
This is very sad news, waiting for final confirmation but it doesnt look promising.

My wife and two teens are now getting smartphones, but they don't want anything larger than the iPhone 5s. They don't care which phone or carrier.
This phone fills the needs of the "small handed" people without having to stay with last year's technology. Well done.
