You have no evidence that the temperature change damaged your screen just as we have no evidence that you have not dropped your phone. All I will point out is the Sony xperia z3 and compact are built with a safety feature that if the phone gets to hot the processor slows down to stop temperature rising. This theory about temperature is not valid. There are ways the glass would crack quite easily for example taking a knock whilst the phones in a person's pocket. Also pressure on the screen would also be affective. For me I just don't except the heat theory neither do sony because they test the phones over and over to make sure the device is safe this same glass is used on more devices besides xperia phones.

littlepixiez, 01 May 2015I bought my Z3 Compact back in November. Fantastic phone, e... moreI'm sorry that you experienced that with your device. Maybe it was a defect with the glass quality but temperature changes hasn't been a problem with mine so far. I use it as my car stereo with the XSP-N1BT, and I go to an office building every day at around 20 degrees C... And using it in the car it can go up to 45 C. I try not to exceed it but sometimes I don't notice it.

AnonD-341326, 01 May 2015i have noticed that as well, it does drain bit faster It seems to be a new feature introduced with the 5.0 update. I've read articles about improved battery life in the 5.1 update. I hope they fixed some mistakes introduced in the current version...

I bought my Z3 Compact back in November. Fantastic phone, excellent quality, awesome camera and I love the phone camera button.

However, at the beginning of April I experienced a strange problem. We were in a very warm place next to an open fire, but not close enough to be unnaturally hot. My phone worked fine. We then moved onto a cooler place. I was using my phone normally, Whatsapping friends etc. It lived in a screen protector, gel case that went out in front of the screen slightly, and a shock sock. I pulled my phone out of my bag and the touchscreen was unresponsive. I looked closer and there was a long hairline crack from top to bottom, and a spiderweb crack at the top of my phone.

Now, the phone was not dropped at all. It received no impact whatsoever. The Sony Z series has had many complaints about random self-cracking mannerisms. I sent my phone off to Sony, and they quoted me £110 to fix my screen as they believed it was accidental damage. I challenged them and escalated my case. They explained that if it were a single hairline crack, yes it may be covered under warranty, they have fixed other phones with this problem before. But, because my phone had a spiderweb crack they would not fix it. I said to them "what if I accidentally pressed my thumb on the hairline crack when getting it out of my bag and that caused it?" I'm sorry, still accidental damage. I said "so if this defect gives customers a hairline crack and they accidentally press the screen as they cannot see through an opaque case that this crack has appeared you class it as accidental damage?" Yes. Well okay - thanks Sony.

I would warn people to definitely insure your phone just in case Sony will not fix it in the event of random screen cracks. Do not let the phone get too hot. Honestly, it is a wellknown issue across the internet. Spiderweb cracks less wellknown, but they have occurred. I eventually paid Sony to fix my phone and cut my losses, however I am making sure that other people know about this problem. If it happens again I will be taking the issue legally further.

They also sent my a tempered glass screen protector. Thanks Sony, but it was NOT dropped. And if anyone moans at me on here, why the hell would I come on here and lie? What would the point be? Just be careful as this is obviously a manufacturing defect that Sony are unwilling to own up to.

The supplier (not Sony) sent me a refurbished Z3C unit which was obviously a return because one of the flaps would not seat properly. I sent it back and finally got my money back six weeks later. The first Z3C phone I bought from them broke down twice with the randomly shutting down problem. This one was first repaired by the official Sony repair service but it still broke down again a week later.

This could be a real simple fix. I would run a connection test to find out what sort of speed you are getting. Also is there certain times when you lose connection and what sort of broadband do you have?

Aakash D, 30 Apr 2015Help!! my wifi keeps on disconnecting frequently on my z3c... moreI have personally not come across a wifi problem with any mobile device. I don't mean to make you sound silly but have you checked its not in a stamina mode. Stamina mode turns off mobile signals when your phone is idol to conserve battery power. Also is your phone actually connecting to your wifi to start with?

A refurbished unit is usually a device sent back by a customer because they have had issues with it. Why did you let the supplier deal with a camera issue. The camera had no physical damage so it would of been covered by Sony warranty. Now that you have received a second hand or refurbished unit if you like, there will be no sony warranty. Am I the only one that can see logic here!!! If anyone that has purchased a device and is experiencing problems that hasn't been caused through negligence please go through the correct channels first. Sony would of sorted the camera out for you and not sent you a refurbished replacement which in turn wouldn't of voided the warranty.

To my disappointment, after 3 weeks from receiving my brand new Z3 Compact the main camera stopped working. But all is well these things happen. Sen the phone in and it were replaced by the supplier with a refurbished unit, only to have my “new” phone for 2 weeks. The phone was on my counter top at home. I popped out to the garden for 30min. On return the screen were cracked from bottom to top. Now Sony doesn’t want to replace or fix my phone. Even if there is no sign of ANY damage to the phone or screen protector except for the cracked screen. There is also no sign of “impact” to the screen. Usually you’ll find spider web crack at the impact spot on the screen. The phone is at the supplier for 3 months now. This SUCK!
