Z5 compact is great ....... so far battery life is awesome every bit as good as Z3 compact. The big one for me which is why I got rid of the Z3 compact was on ATT the Z3 compact had SMS and MMS issues that never got resolved. This appears to be fixed on the Z5 compact no issues Identified so far. Really Happy.....best small android phone on the market.

Z3 compact lower its battery life if upgraded to lollipop. The z5 compact has lollipop OS so that's why the reason the it was lower battery life than z3 compact. I heard the Marshmallow OS has better battery lifespan the previous OS. So what if the z5 upgrade to marshmallow OS the battery will improve its lifespan?. GSMarena can you give battery review if the z5 is on the marshmallow OS?

Anonymous, 22 Oct 2015Hey buddy, please let as know about real life battery compa... moreSince I still haven't inserted the SIM card into Z5 compact and using both phones (Z3 compact using SIM and Z5 compact using Wifi) at the same time, I don't think that I can give an accurate figure to you.

By the way, the last time I tried recording a 8 minutes 4K video with steadyshot enabled during testing, it consumed about 5% of overall battery with just warm on the phone body. I did a full charge yesterday afternoon, now after nearly 21 hours I still have 80% without SIM, only Wifi usage and in relatively light use, just little browsing in Chrome, YouTube, Google+, instagram, setting up E-mail, etc... I says I still have 1 Day and 7 Hours left on battery, I guess it could be longer giving this light usage.

I think the battery performance is barely the same as my Z3 compact, but could be longer in some applications which I'll try to test it later. For your comparison, I need to charge my Z3 compact every 1.5 - 2 days depends on usage.

              Cheers!

Patilan, 20 Oct 2015Nice review mate. After having so many Xperias, could you ... moreThank you! Some updates to my phone, since I have a Z5 compact in white colour, I'm one of the "lucky"/victim having the touchscreen problem - the lower part of the screen not functioning well after several minutes of heavy usage - I got my phone replaced with a new one yesterday and the problem was gone. Today, I read a forum announcement from Sony that a software fix will arrive next week to solve this problem. If I knew it earlier, I would have waited for this software fix instead of changing a new one.

Regarding your question on screen protection, I think screen protector/tempered glass is definitely a must no matter how strong the screen of the phone is. I use a typical Tempered 0.33mm glass protector for my Z3 compact and this Z5 compact (Just costed HKD67), it doesn't affect the sensitive of the touchscreen and it gives a good protection to the touchscreen. I recommended my friend to add this tempered glass protector to his iPhone 6 last year, and it saved his phone from shredded screen when falling to the ground (about than 1.5m drop with a few bounds) a few weeks ago, only 2 long cracks on the protector were found, just replace the tempered glass protector with a new one and the phone was reborn!

By comparing to the price of the phone, that's a really big cost saving protection to the screen! Therefore, I do recommend doing so as it's quite practical in most cases.

                Cheers!

Is it easy to scratch ? should i plan for a screen protector, or is it any near the Gorilla glass ?

awi11, 19 Oct 2015Any z5 compact users or those who bought the phone already ... moreI have both Xperia Z3 compact (used for a year) and Xperia Z5 compact (just bought 2 days) currently. I don't have any experience in overheating so far, the body and internal temperature is almost the same as Z3 compact - I just had overheat issue with Z3 compact once, after recording 20 minutes 1080p60 video under super sunshine, otherwise, the Z3 compact is pretty much cooler than most Android phone. The Z5 compact is more responsive than Z3 compact (for me Z3 compact is already very fast), and the finger print sensor is fantastic, extremely fast! I tried the demo unit in a local Sony store a few times - including video capture in 1080p60 & 4K H.265 with steady shot enabled - before buying it in another local store, I do recommend buying it and I'll continue test it and see if there're any problems may have. Hope this quick summary may help you a bit on making decision.

My experience on Sony Xperia: acro S, V, Z, Z1, Z3 compact, now Z5; I think I can claim that I know the up and down side of the flagship Xperia family.

Blings, 16 Oct 2015Thanks for the detailed review buddy, I wanna ask about the... moreThe back in Z5 compact is made of glad, exactly like the Z3 compact, I dont know if its a different more resistant glass, but it is glass. At pics, it gives the impression that it is plastic, but in real life you understand it without touching it, you can tell simply looking at it.
Sony mostly adressed the fingerprint magnet issue that haunted Z3c, anyone worried for the glass, can buy tempered glass protection, or use a case.
The back glass is like a winter window, in real life it takes exactly the color of the side plastic, so everything looks symmetric and elegant thats why I said it is not as bad looking as it looks at pics. However the looks in Z3 compact for me is top notch and beats Z5 compact, hands down. Also the battery in Z3 is much better than it is in Z5. Overall i wouldnt recommend you to upgrade to Z5. The only major advantage is the 32gb internal space.
Unless you dont play +3gb games like Real Racing 3, it is likely that you will be dissapointed, the looks and the battery are a step back and once you are used with such high standards, Z5c will feel like a compromise. For every other user the Z5c is the obvious choice over Z3c...

                                        yes, Z5 Compact is OCTA-CORE

                                        Quad-Core 1,5 GHz Cortex + Quad-Core 2 GHz Cortex = Octa-Core Snapdragon 810
