Uh oh, according to LEDStrain (a forum offering aid to PWM sufferers) both the 40 NxtPaper 4G and 5G versions use PWM, perhaps at differing frequencies, but PWM regardless. Sad.

The 4G version has a different screen size (6.78 inches vs 6.6 on the 5G) and even a higher resolution (1080x2460 vs 720x1612) with a higher PPI so the pixels aren't seen. Because the screen is different, the 4G version may astoundingly enough...

So a 5G modem costs $50, and probably it's even more expensive, as they've had to downgrade other components such as: Screen, 6.78 to 6.6 Resolution, 1080x2460 (396 ppi) to 720x1612 (267 ppi) Thinness, 7.9 to 9mm RAM, 8 to 6 GB CP...
