Weekly poll: the best of the MWC 2023

Peter, 05 March 2023

It was a busy week but we are all finished covering the new announcements from Barcelona and all the hands-on experiences we had with the new smartphones that were unveiled over the last few days. So, as we wrap up we were wondering – which new phone left the best impression in you?

Here we will include phones that were announced at the MWC, plus already existing devices which are hitting the road and expanding to the global market. We have divided them into categories so you can vote for the best one.

As we mentioned already, we have hands-on reports from most of the new releases, even some reviews (that is written and/or video reviews). Since there are plenty of devices to go through, we won’t go into detail here but instead will summarize everything into handy tables that will list the prices and link to specs and additional coverage.

We’ll start with the flagships. Honor unveiled its new Magic5 series and the triple cameras of the vanilla and Pro models are going up against the Leica-branded cameras of the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro. The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro have been on sale in China for a while now, but the company announced the global rollout this week. It’s a similar story with the Realme GT3, though it also changed its name from the GT Neo 5.

Next up, foldables. There are only two of them, but outside of China you won’t find many horizontal foldables not named “Galaxy”, so two is actually a lot. Honor is launching its refined Magic Vs globally while Tecno is debuting its first-ever foldable, the Phantom V Fold, with an upcoming launch in India (it should expand to other regions later on).

Moving on to mid-rangers. The Xiaomi 13 Lite is a brand new device that wasn’t announced with the other two 13-series models in December. It’s up against the vivo V27 and V27 Pro. All three spotlight the selfie camera and use mid-range chips (the brand new Dimensity 7200 for the V27 and the rare Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 for the Xiaomi).
