Whether intentional or coincidence, it's up to Xiaomi users to believe. But based on my experience with over 10+ Xiaomi phones, they all do that after the MIUI updates pushed on the second year. I only have two Xiaomi devices with no problems even after the third year - and both are in their fourth year because they were never updated after I learned about Xiaomi's planned obsolescence.

My Poco F2 Pro did all that yours did including the sudden, mysterious fingerprint unlock failure. It all happened after the updates on the second year. It's real. Xiaomi wants to force users with old Xiaomi phones to upgrade.

It's Xiaomi's latest software manipulations to force Xiaomi users with old phones to upgrade. Previously, it was only slow charging and/or fast battery drain problems.

Anonymous, 10 Mar 2023No. It's not loss of battery capacity through natural ... moreWhat you are writting is simply not true. Li-po batteries have a health cycle of 700 charges at most after which they lose capacity. No software update is going to increase the wear and tear of the battery. I have a Poco f1 whose battery lasts for 2 hours sot after 4 years of use, and it didn't receive any software updates for ages. So stop spreading conspiracy theories. Update your software for security reasons. When the battery doesn't last like before, change it. Simple as that.

I'm using poco f2 pro, after my 3 yr old redmi note 4 spoilt. The phone is in its second year, and I've neither experienced the charging problem, nor am I having a slow charging or quick discharge, and I'm in the latest update. I don't think it's a general problem

Chaotic1981, 09 Mar 2023Have you ever stopped to consider that the battery has lost... moreNo. It's not loss of battery capacity through natural wear and tear. It's intentional manipulation by Xiaomi's MIUI software. All Xiaomi phones I've previously and currently owned get 'killer' updates as the phone approaches 2 years. One of three things usually happen: The Xiaomi phone suspiciously charges very slowly, the battery suddenly drains unusually very fast (and will do the same even if you have the battery replaced), or the fingerprint scanner mysteriously fails. The Xiaomi phones that you don't update don't experience any of those. They gradually lose battery capacity which only become noticeable on the 5th year.

Name me one phone you had with the battery still going like day 1. It doesn't exist. Batteries are spare parts. Change it and will last more.

FF, 14 Feb 2023If i rollback the MIUI will it fix those problem? Battery d... moreYou will not be able to rollback to an older software version once you update your Xiaomi. Miui anti-rollback feature makes it impossible. So the only way to solve the slow charging problem is to avoid installing the software updates. Once installed, it's time to buy a new phone or just tolerate the slow charging.

I had the same issue after less than a year I've bought it.
I decided to order flex cable and usb board. Changed both and it fixed it. It's almost 2years since then and all is good. Everything works fine.

MladenJ, 02 Feb 2023It's really not clear to me that the Poco F2pro Global... moreWhen a Xiaomi phone is approaching 2 years old from the date of original launch/release, Xiaomi frequently releases updates that will result to your Xiaomi phone charging super slow or with the battery draining very fast, you'll be forced to junk your Xiaomi phone and upgrade.
At first, I thought it was just coincidence because the Xiaomi phone is 2 years old. But I've owned 12+ Xiaomi phones in the past including this last one (Poco F2 Pro), and have noticed a clear pattern. On the last few updates, battery mysteriously drains very fast or phone suddenly charges very slow. It's like Apple intentionally slowing down old iPhones so you upgrade to a newer model.
With Xiaomi phones, it's slowing the charging speed and increasing the battery drain. My advice is to NEVER update your Xiaomi phone when it is approaching 2 years old. BEWARE OF THE LAST FEW UPDATES for your old Xiaomi phone. They are meant to slow down the charging or rapidly drain the battery or both. That's planned obsolescence Xiaomi style.
