I disabled everything from google, including assistant, revoked every permision for any app. I reset my phone twice just to be sure. accordin to the setting nothig should run in the background, but the phone still heats up like crazy.
And you are right, nobody should buy any xiaomi device except from xiaomi itself, that was my mistake and of a lot of people that were too impatient to wait for xiaomi.
However, xiaomi should at least fix it because I have a warranty card from them, and it says that xiaomi will fix it, not the seller, not your gradma, not the postman but xiaomi, because it's their phone and according to the imei that they recognise as being a xiaomi phone with international warranty.
I am not saying that xiaomi phones are trash, what I'm saying is that their warranty is trash, and even worse they will not fix it even if I pay them, that should be ilegal

              I'm 50-50 on buying the poco/k30 pro.

Maybe I'll just buy a midrange and wait for next year to find a flagship phone I want because this year still full of punch hole.

About the pop-up camera, it is the 2nd best option imho. Best available idea is dual display like nubia x and nubia z20.

I hope xiaomi makes mi mix 4 a dual display like nubia z20.

I love nubia z20 concept but i know they never give updates and camera settings are limited when using as front cam despite being same camera hardware. So i never bought it.

If you've never had any software updates from Xiaomi or if Google Playstore and other Google apps disappear after the factory reset, then you have a tampered ROM. Return phone for a refund and buy one from a reputable official Xiaomi seller.

Even the K30 PRO and POCO F2 Pro have the same hardware, there's no assurance installing software of one for the other will not create any problems. Xiaomi forbids it and do not honor warranties for phones with TAMPERED ROMs.

raycon, 22 Jun 2020please stop trolling. when we say it's hot it mean it's unc... moreI'm not trolling, I'm saying FACTS. Flagship processors heat up more, and yes, they can get hot especially recording 4K video continuously or intermittently for several hours like when you're recording safari or travel 4K videos. I should know because I regularly experience it in my other flagship phones and even upper midrange phones with over clocked processor.

When a phone overheats, it gives you a high temperature prompt and the performance suffers, in this case, the 4K recording skips frames. Performance throttles that's why it now skips frames. Other than that, it continues to operate and continues recording maintaining the much higher temperature but not getting any hotter. IT'S ABSOLUTELYNORMAL. It cools down once the 4K recording sessions stop.

So unless the phone is exhibiting other problems like shutting down or malfunctioning, it's flagship phone getting hot during processor extensive activities is perfectly normal. The only phones that don't heat up much are those with midrange processors.

The only time it's abnormal is when you can no longer hold the phone because the temperature rise hasn't plateaud and the phone has exhibited malfunctions like force closing apps repeatedly or shutting down or restarting spontaneously without the user doing it.

Overheating can frequently occur from rogue or malicious apps or apps going haywire or more commonly, CORRUPTION of android operating system. This is ESPECIALLY TRUE when accompanied by another symptom like RAPID BATTERY DRAIN. This a also happen for phones with TAMPERED ROM's. Example: Redmi K30 PRO with fake global ROM. From my experience, the only way to correct it is factory reset, assuming the software is OFFICIAL MIUI GLOBAL ROM. Otherwise, it's a hopeless case and installing the official/original ROM the phone came with, (example official CHINA ROM with no Google Playstore) is the only solution. That is why YOU SHOULD NEVER BUY from unofficial Xiaomi stores or grey market sellers. It's a gamble and when you get problems with the phone, Xiaomi won't honor it.

Otherwise, you can only choose flipper model designs or pop-ups or wait until 2023 for underdisplay selfie cameras.

Anonymous, 19 Jun 2020Yes, I can certainly understand your frustration with Xiaom... moretotally agreed 👍 I was never a brand consumer. in regard to the warranty I think xiaomi is trash in UK, they don't obey the law, I don't have time or budget to sue them. Just beware of your warranty, buy only from them and if they don't officially sell that phone in your country, buy it from a physical store were you can actually return it and get it fixed. And the thing is xiaomi doesn't want to repair it even if I pay. I went to a local repair shop and they can't fix it because the motor is fried and there is no replacement part for it at this point, maybe in a couple of months. Not to mention now, I have serious overheating issues maybe because of the motherboard, it can't be from the motor because it's now disconnected. So basically now I'm stuck with a brick. One more thing I would like to say is that there is a common myth that xiaomi said it tested the motor for 300k open and closes, there maybe some confusion with what Oneplus said about their 7 series, but I couldn't find anywhere something similar for xiaomi. So again, buyers beware. Otherwise is a great phone with nice performance and battery life untill the motor failed and started heating up, now I barely get 5 hours of SoT and every component from the CPU to the battery is above 43c hot.

Xiaomi actually rendered 3 of my Xiaomi phones worthless after the MiUI update rendered the phones super slow charging. The extended charging times resulted to bloated batteries and of to trash they went just a few months after the killer updates -that's 3 Xiaomi phones one after another. Never Xiaomi again, so I thought. Had LG and Samsung phones after them but guess what? LG didn't update the android Nougat of my $799 LG V20 even once (it's still on Nougat) and it has image retention that was really bad without a screen filter app running. And the Samsung, well, I never used its defective superfast charger because it sporadically just stops charging and the PRO camera mode was seriously a stupid joke. So I'm back to Xiaomi. They're all the same really. I've made peace with the fact phone manufacturers want people to keep on buying new phones every 2 years or so and the only thing that's going to stop it is worldwide regulation against planned obsolescence. Go ahead and move on with another brand, but don't ever expect you can stick with one. Learn from your mistakes - that more than the brand, the seller's reputation and after sales warranty and service and its return policy is something you have to seriously consider. Seller reputation matters more than brand names especially in countries were customer protection is very weak.
