JimmyTheGreatest, 31 Jan 2023Poco F3 is, in and by itself, an excellent phone. It's... moreI mean you purchased a Poco device with that knowledge already. So I would say it is more your fault than Poco.
Now, I do agree they need to give longer software support.
But that will depend if it gives them profit.
Apple is able to do it because you pay premium up front, and Apple makes money through their software services too.
No one uses Poco's software services, we all unbloat our devices and and use other services mostly Google. So longer software support is just Poco bleeding out money plus a low profit margin won't be good for them financially.
That's why at least Poco leaves that to us with custom roms.
I'll say they NEED that software support on the premium line up, because Samsung and Google are doing it so they need to match up for the price we pay.
But on Poco and Redmi, it's understandable.

Im going to buy a poco f3 what miui version should i stick with?

Poco F3 is, in and by itself, an excellent phone. It's the best smartphone I have owned so far. After all the updates/upgrades I have no problem with it now. The problem is Xiaomi, not the phone! A few months from now Xiaomi will neglect and abandon this stunning phone, which will make it vulnerable for constant malware attacks. That will create a big problem for the end user. The phone will continue to function for several years to come, but it will be unsafe to run important and sensitive tasks on it, tasks like banking, email, ID authentication, multi factor authentication, electronic passport & ID...

Xiaomi doesn't care about the end user, because they already got our money and there isn't much we can do about it. Maybe serious and popular news outlets like for example GSMArena, can initiate a thread to discuss long term software maintenance. That will certainly raise customer awareness and hopefully put some pressure on Chinese manufacturers to stop viewing phones as disposables. Rare earth metals are running out and all these electronic disposables are polluting and killing our planet Earth.

Phones have to function in an extremely aggressive environment. It's a death wish to do your banking or put your electronic passport in an unprotected smartphone. I don't think installing your own ROM, VPN or antivirus will protect you. The platform itself must be constantly monitored, guarded and protected by the manufacturer. Xiaomi has historically shown that they abandon their units a couple of years after the release date.

Everything Works like new, camera with gcam is amazing.
Very thin and easy to use.

Anonymous, 26 Jan 2023Is it unwise to buy this devise in this 2023if its same or cheaper brand new yeah worth it.
else you can buy 2nd hand flagships, like lg v50s, v60, samsung galaxy s20.

avoid qualcomm snapdragon SoC higher than SD870, except SD8 gen1+ and SD8 gen2.
anything in between SD870 and SD8 gen1+ will be throttling hard specially if you live in Asia or Middle East.

Anonymous, 26 Jan 2023Is it unwise to buy this devise in this 2023No. It's still an excellent phone!

Mine runs perfect to this day.

                  Enjoy your weekend!!

Anonymous, 21 Jan 2023Guys does this phone have mother board issue like poco x3 p... moreAs far am i am aware no, it doesnt.
My poco f3 is always updated to the latest miui and it is not showing any problems, and i never encountered any article/post from people complaining about a dead f3 phone.
In regard to your upgrade decision:
Even tho f3 is a good phone and most probably "more reliable" than the x3 or x3 pro i would go for something else like an f4 or any newer phone so you get the extra software updates.
                        Hope that helps.

mitakashime, 25 Jan 2023same question My Poco F3 is fully updated/upgraded and I have no motherboard problem. It's a very good phone and you'll love it, but you'll face a lot of bugs out of the box that need to be fixed via several iterations of updates, once done, you won't want to be without your F3.

JimmyTheGreatest, 24 Jan 2023But it's unwise to buy it now because Xiaomi will most... moreTotally agree with you. I wanted to help the people who want a reliable phone for cheap (since they most probably ll buy it used or on sale considering it is nearly 2 years old)
But y even tho i really enjoy using my f3 i would definitely go for another phone knowing that it has a year or maybe less of software updates.
                                Good point tho man 🤝

But it's unwise to buy it now because Xiaomi will most likely stop updating/upgrading the software after 2 years from the release date. They try to push people towards their newer phones so that they can get paid. I don't blame them because this is how things work, they will never admit it though. I genuinely love my Poco F3, but wouldn't buy it now because it's simply too late. Instead I would go for Poco X4 GT or maybe wait for Poco F5/X5 to be released... If you still want to buy this wonderful phone, then you shouldn't expect software maintenance after a few months from now.

I'm a little surprised that this phone still has some bugs after all the updates. It's not as terrible as it was out of the box though.

My newer Poco X4 GT is working perfectly well, no irritating bugs, but some worthless and annoying bloatware that cannot be turned off let alone uninstalled in an orderly manner.

I am posting this for anyone that's thinking about buying this phone and he want a real main user long time experience with this phone.
So, i got this phone literally 20 days after launch so it has been my one and only phone since a year and 9 months.
I am not a heavy user by any means but i've used it for everything!
                                    everyday use:
Never froze on me to the point where i needed to restart.
I only have a problem with instagram, where if i am viewing stories the app ll crash after 5min to 20 min of use(irritating but got used to it...)
                                    Battery life and connectivity:
Have been using it for navigation on my delivery bike for the last year, Gps never did let me down, same for connectivity(4g +calls) battery is solid even in the heaviest working days can easily give me 5 hours sot with 4g,gps always on with phone calls and 3 hours of standby and it ll still have 20% left.
And the 33W charging is perfect for me to have a quick top up of the battery.
                                    Screen and media consumption+ performance:
Screen is perfect for me can't ask for more. The amoled vibrancy and the 120hz coupled with the SD870 deliver a good, smooth user experience and even in gaming (played clash royale, asphalt, genshin) they all were playable (idc that much if my phone is playing the game with 90 fps instead of 120 ULTRA ULTIMATE graphics, i have a pc for that..)
                                    Camera:
Am not a camera guy by anymeans, actually if i go into my library it is probably 90% screenshots, 5% whatsapp backup stuff and 5% are actually photos taken with the phone but i would say it is good enough for me, unless you are an instagram influencer or a content creator i don't think you need more but that can be a weak point for some people.
Well guys i hope that was helpful if you have any specific questions i'll try my best to answer.
(Ps: i have the 6/128gb version so this goes for all f3's versions with the higher one should be "better" on paper.)
