Red Wings, 26 Dec 2023But why do you say that? Why is it a bad feature? It wears out your internal storage disk and causes bigger battery drain. It's just a gimmick feature, no substantial gain.

Red Wings, 23 Dec 2023Do you guys have activated the option to virtually expand t... moreThere really is no point to use virtual ram that is storage based. Especially when you already have overkill amount of ram as 12GB
Even the 8GB ram version i have can have 3GB virtual ram but i dont see a point of it when 8GB be more then enough for next 5 plus years.
I would think the market is around 75% full of phones that perform around Antutu v10 100.000 to 700.0000 and all these phones be like 2GB ram to 8GB ram. Well to be honest even budget phones now start to more and more get 12GB ram while it's useless and is just a number game in marketing. For example i can give with cameras. Google Pixel 6a have dual 12mp cameras and these do better quality pictures then for example Poco X5 Pro with 108mp camera. It's all just marketing big numbers game to manipulate people to buy with more larger numbers as basic brain washing
I would turn virtual ram on only when the phone would have like 2 hard drives. Like for example have 32GB hard drive for only Android install and then have second hard drive that is 256GB where are all the apps and everything installed. Then can use this second hard drive for virtual ram and it wont affect the OS hard drive.
Virtual ram basically creates traffic in storage that takes more battery life from phone also cause there are more activity with the virtual ram in storage.
You can basically turn the virtual ram on when you have used the phone for 4-5 years and then you take basically all you can get out of the phone life end. Even tough you wont see any difference as your base 12GB is already more then you ever need cause of the state software and hardware is.

Do you guys have activated the option to virtually expand the RAM capacity using the free disk space?
I suppose it would be always useful, right? It can increase RAM memory from 12GB up to 19GB, I think.
It's a no brainer, right?
Or do you find any inconvenient and chose not to use this option?
Why isn't this activated by default on all phones, if this only has advantages...

Huge dilemma, Poco F5 for 427€ or Motorola Edge 40 for 300€? Poco seems a safer choice but Edge 40 has its perks also.

Anonymous, 22 Dec 2023How is the new update so far ? Battery life & performa... moreIt's early days yet but so far I am really impressed with the new HyperOS. Animation is a lot smoother and everything is running well. The OS is a lot lighter and I've noticed that I have more free RAM now. I have the 12GB version and with MIUI 14 I used to have approximately 7.5Gb free but that has increased to around 8.5Gb. Battery life has depreciated a little but that is to be expected now that it has Android 14 and a new OS but that will improve once they have both optimised fully in the next few days.

Akame, 19 Dec 2023If they update it to HyperOS in January 2024, the phone wil... moreSorry for the long one
I would say bad timing for Xiaomi to change there OS skin name and then forget to even do security updates for there phones.
I dont really care for the updates as that is not so important for me. If i get 2 OS update i be fine with it. F4 is still very much worth the 410 euro is paid for the phone in May 2023 for the 8GB ram version.
I didnt buy Poco F5 for the update sake as if that be my prime option then i would of need to sacrifice performance and go with Samsung A54.
I know in advance that Xiaomi and especially Poco wont give a lot of updates as it's performance phone for budget so you cant hope to have good cameras and software updates.
I would say that i am happy with the phone i got and for next 5 years i dont need a new phone cause it should have no issues with any app or game even 5 years in the future.
Just to remind that budget middle class is still there SD778 performance range. So basically market is now something 70% full of phones in Antutu v10 range of 300k to 700k
All these MTK G8x G9x D7xx D8xx D9xx are in that range and from Snapdragon there are 480 4 gen 1 gen 2 680 685 695 SD7xx 7s gen 2 7 gen 1 and so on so far what is 7 series.
F5 with the 7+ gen 2 is in the range of 1.1M Antutu v10 range and 900k in v9 version.
It be enough to do everything you need for next 5 years. Security updates it's nice to have but it's not like you are security risk person to need these. You still have methods with apps how to protect your self and have your phone more secure then the OS Security update.
i never made fingerprint scanner so my finger tips dont have data in my phone that is a security risk cause there can be hackers and leakers. If i pack all of the things trough my phone like have all my banking and so on done in there then that phone needs security. But i do these things in home desktop computer. I am in control of my own security and cant rely on technology. There is no thing like impossible with software as it only depends on time. My country even have ID Sim cards that i dont have cause i dont want to have risks that i have made an object too valuable for me that can be a key for disaster
