JimmyTheGreatest, 31 Oct 2023It's good that you own several brands/models, because ... moreI know you said disregard the camera, but let's just start with that anyways so I can disregard it later. Periscope zoom, or any zoom lens, but mostly multiple ( 2 zoom lenses ) is what I really do miss, even so I still go back to my Infinix phones for their vibe, as at this point that's what I chase when it comes to my phones, a vibe.
So let's disregard the cameras.
The big thing is the aluminum frame, I know, I know people put their phones in cases, well so do I, I mostly use the included case with my phones, as most of them come with one. The X Note comes with a case that doesn't cover the sides, which I love, there is no need to cover them if they are made out of aluminum. This ties directly into the next thing I've noticed, while Infinix phones are built pretty well and so are Xiaomi and most other midrangers, but flagships are just that much nicer when it comes to build quality.
The thing is most of the stuff I miss from my flagships aren't essential, but since I can have a flagship and I mean I do have some, I do notice these tiny differences.

DarlingYext, 31 Oct 2023Can you buy them in the EU? I've neither heard of nor ... moreIt's good that you own several brands/models, because it facilitates benchmarking and increases insight.
I know literally nothing about camera/photography. If you could please disregard the camera department for a moment, what are those "entirely complete set of features" you alluded to. I mean what did you find in the high-end flagships that you cannot find in your current midrangers (Infinix)?
The cameras in my Poco phones have a ton of settings/features. I don't even know what they mean, let alone how to using them. I just resort to the default settings instead, out of laziness actually. One of the very few photos I took in a forest while I was drunk, accidentally won a prize, I'm NOT joking. I did NOT post process the image, I don't even know how to do it. Even several professional photographers were impressed and refused to believe me when I said that I coincidentally took the photo with my Poco F3. That's the main reason why I get irritated when people constantly nag about the camera in Poco phones. If you don't know how to shoot a subject and at what angle, why put the blame on an innocent camera!!
I use less than 50% of all the features/settings in my F3/X4 GT/F5 and I'm more than happy with it. I take less than 20 pictures per month of things I need to temporarily remember, because I don't carry pen and paper anymore. Ok, I might occasionally shoot a lake, to capture a beautiful light reflection, or a tree, to capture the beautiful Autumn colors now, but that's really it. I do it for fun, and I'm not going to pay twice as much for an expensive flagship, only to take a picture of the opening hours of a restaurant.
I know several professional photographers, both friends and former coworkers. The lenses they mount on their cameras can be one meter long. They would never ever use a phone to shoot subjects when they are on a paid assignment, not even privately actually, to my surprise. They even frown at me when I ask them to check a photo that I took with my Poco phones.
If you're a hobby photographer, the camera in the Poco phones have all the bells and whistles you need. I only use the default settings, but if you like/want to modify/tweak the settings, you can take stunning pictures. However, If you want to take it to the next level, then you can install one of those freely available professional camera apps for Android.

Well, at the very least in Hungary, yes you can buy some of them, not many, but some models. There is a website called Alza that sells them, for example the Note 30 Pro, Note 30 VIP and even the Zero Ultra and last year, they were even selling the Tecno Camon 18 Premier. I bought 2 Zero Ultra from them ( each color ), the Variable Gold Note 30 Pro and the Tecno Camon 18 Premier. They don't sell Tecno phones anymore, so I assume Infinix sold better here, and I've seen a handful of people with them, but yeah not a lot.
"Even Xiaomi is relatively new in my country.."
Xiaomi is actually very popular here at this point.
On the other hand, I'm not afraid to order phones from outside of my country. I have my daily driver duo (the 2 phones I mostly switch between) from China and the other from India. One is the vivo X Note and the other is the Infinix Zero 30.
"I honestly don't understand why people think/feel those phones are so premium and why they're willing to pay twice as much to own them??"
At first I didn't understand either, but now that I'm switching between midrange phones and flagship I got it. It's the in-hand feel mostly, but also to have an entirely complete set of features you still have to get a flagship.

poco has OIS in main lens, realme doesn't.
poco has better ultrawide (120⁰), than realme (112⁰)

DarlingYext, 31 Oct 2023That's because those are budget phones, I have some of... moreCan you buy them in the EU? I've neither heard of nor seen anyone owning these brands. Even Xiaomi is relatively new in my country, only nerds and technically savvy people knew about it and imported it. Now they're readily available in many shops.
I've been using Xiaomi phones for ages and I LOVE them. They're addictive in a way, mainly because of their raw power. Believe it or not, F3/X4 GT/F5 are even sexy and elegant actually... However, it's unwise to rely on a single brand/platform/OS/skin, it's like putting all your eggs in one basket. Diversity, in and by itself, increases safety/security.
Sometimes I drop in phone shops in a mall nearby, just to check out and play a little with all the high-end flagships. I honestly don't understand why people think/feel those phones are so premium and why they're willing to pay twice as much to own them?? Ok, they get a few more pixels here and there, but so what... Isn't it better to just buy a decent camera instead, because you don't have to update/upgrade/charge it all the time, and it is way less susceptible to malware attack. You buy one good camera and you have it for the rest of your life. You don't have to buy a new one every two years, because the battery is replaceable.
Xiaomi phones have become a little pricey recently, so I'm checking the phone market now and preparing for my next year's purchase. I don't care about brands and there are very good phones in the pipeline now. But due to my Xiaomi addiction, I might unfortunately end up buying the upcoming F6. I just hope Xiaomi bring back the FM radio and won't remove the 3.5mm jack from the future F-series, it's actually one of the main reasons why people chose the current F5. I use the 3.5mm jack to connect stereo speakers to my phone, very handy and functional, specially if you live in a small apartment.
I have a feeling Xiaomi might put Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in F6, because the price of this powerful CPU will certainly drop by next year, specially now that more and more people are discovering Dimensity. Next year will be a bloodbath for phone manufacturers...

Give the 2 phones to a blind person who have very sensitive finger to ask is it feels premium on button clicking.
I dont make any difference on clicking buttons on S22 or F5 or Redmi note 5 Pro.
Operating F5 on screen is faster in some aps then even on luxury brands phones like Apple and you cant have more premium then apple.
How the phone looks is also weird example to give as it's based on taste and nothing to do with premium. You can also see eye candy designs on brands like Infinix or Tecno that both are trash brands.

RishiGuru, 29 Oct 2023Bro.. I think by 'premium feel' he meant the prem... moreI never hear people say premium feel for phones like Redmi note 5 Pro/AI that was fully aluminum body cause the phone cost like 170 euro only.
Also even now with the phones that have glass back and some metal frame but are in the budget to middle class price range
Have you seen people say Xiaomi Redmi 12 5G have a premium feel to it cause it has glass back but plastic frame ?
I dont even hear it for flagships.
It's always said on budget to middle class phones for a reason to say something bad.
For me F5 feels premium phone based on how it feels when i operate it.
My hands are not so sensitive to feel premium in materials. Is it plastic or metal or glass.
While i dont want glass phones that are fragile as that is not premium when it's fragile to use. It's also not and art that you have on your wall just for your eye candy or some statue behind a glass protected youst to see and not to touch
I have had metal body phone as my last phone was Redmi note 5 AI dual cam. Painted aluminum feels close to what plastic feels. Well actually plastic feels warmer then aluminum but then again it's not something that makes it premium in my mind. I also had Lumia 830 that was with plastic back and aluminum frame

pl2rts, 29 Oct 2023Feeling premium is only placebo effect that comes with the ... moreBro.. I think by 'premium feel' he meant the premium in hand feel of a phone. In fact there are differences in feel when you hold a plastic phone and then switch to a glass sandwich design phone with a metal frame. Or a full metal built phone like the old Nokia 6.1. Even the similarly priced Motorola Edge 40 with metal frame and vegan leather back look and feels so premium to hold in comparison to my Poco F5.
Bank for buck and overall package for a phone is a different topic though.

Pradeep Gree, 29 Oct 2023It feels like beast of all mid ranger, doesn't feel pr... moreFeeling premium is only placebo effect that comes with the higher price.
US reality tv made a test in public to people with this placebo effect.
There was 2 cakes on the table that both were made with same ingredients.
While one cake had a price tag of 5 dollars and other had 100 dollars.
People who taste test the cakes praised that the 100 dollar cake tastes divine as the best they have ever tasted and then the 5 dollar example tasted weird.
That just proved that higher price for product make you feel like it's more premium.
If they would test people with Samsung phones like give them S22 and tag it to be like something budget range with the price too and then other be like S23 Ultra with that 4 digits price tag then that S22 would also feel like trash on there hands with no premium feel to it Even worse would be that S22 when they would rename it to some random Chinese brand and then it would lose even more premium feel to it
