Anonymous, 26 Oct 2021Flicking issues been solved on 12.5.0 update12.5 not solve anything.. but adding more and more bugs:
+ drain the battery badly
+ excessive heat when charging
+ longer full charging period
+ unstable certain WiFi band/ lost connectivity
+ cellular band (2g,3g, H+ & 4g) totally lost connectivity after a call ended randomly
+ worsen proximity detection
+ 'underpower' processing performance
+ touch screen drop sensitivity
+ screen lag scrolling
+ camera shutter slow response
think twice about before go to 12.5

There is no use of telling you people how proximity sensor work at all since you guys literally thought of it this way. If Xiaomi is not using proximity then people would probably find out by doing a teardown on this phone but people still got no word for that.

This phone has been good until it was doing an update then it went from showing Redmi swapping to a plug sign. I did all the fast rebot etc and nothing happened.
Sigh.

Just updated this phone like 3 days ago to miui 12.5.8 and so far so good. Battery life improve dramatically and many bug that I always encountered on previous version have been fixed. Still I don't think I can recommend other to update to the latest version because other people complain about it.

I bought this phone recently from Harvey Norman sim free for €299 and I am very impressed with it. The display is fantastic and the sound through headphones both wired and Bluetooth is excellent. It's got all that I need and more, for a mobile device that is hundreds of Euro's cheaper than flagship models. This is a great value for money option with dual sim card included. I have not experienced any issues to date while using it. The cameras are also very good even in low light. Watching YouTube videos that support HDR 1080p is simply amazing!

I once wrote abou... moreWhen Xiaomi not designed Redmi Note 10 Pro with real hardware proximity sensor, they just rely on ambient light sensors (which definitely other quality phone makers used to control the screen brightness, etc only) ..the algorithm for emulated proximity will be messy and not robust enough to detect the variation of users behaviour during call session
This will make the phone can't detect properly 'our face &, ear', it just detecting the percentage of shadowing lights to emulate the proximity of an object to the phone.
So none of users will talk to a phone calls in static position, they normally will move around and that will disturb the level of lights permitted to the ambient sensors. This actually made this phone FAIL forever to hold the screen off during calls or other related functions..
I don't understand how much 'briliant' these group of Xoami's young engineers thought this way in order to cut the cost?
if this is correct, i just can say ...there were the dumbest engineers ever hired for this phone delevelopment project.. how much YUAN they had saved vs how much cost & losses they gained after these issues had drop down their sales.. and value of this phone in the market..

I once wrote about this on the Poco x3 pro comments but not so much people understand about it. People should've Google about how proximity work instead of saying thing they didn't even understand. Also WhatsApp also have this thing triggered when you're hearing mp3 or voice message and it's not hardware related issue and it's WhatsApp thing.
