DS, 22 Apr 2024Samsung A34 5G or Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro ?It depends what you prefer.

Galaxy A34 is bigger and has longer lasting battery (if not one on the most of consumer-level midrange phones even), has 1 more year of software support. Very good thermal efficiency, it never gets hot (only warm at best, if you stress test it). Also, durable build even though the plastic is back. IP67, so it will be waterproof for quite an amount of time.

Redmi - pros: very thin bezels, snapdragon 7 gen 2 (therefore a bit faster performance than a34), maybe custom rom support in the future (but for now there's none). Cons: back camera module is huge, which might not be held comfortably while using device horizontally, not durable in bend test (check that on youtube to see), IP54 rating (fine to use in rain, but that's about it)

If you're a gamer go for redmi or poco x6 (maybe x6 pro even if you can, it's worth it), if you want to buy a phone that will last for long period of time, go for a34

Also depends what android skin you prefer One UI or MIUI. The choice is yours

And that;s with the stock camera. I'm using a carefully tweaked "greatness" gcam mod and results are perfect.

It’s a very good phone! Beautiful screen quality, beautiful pictures, big battery that lasts a full day, fast, and easy to use. Very fast charging: From 0 to 100 in 50 minute without ultra fast charging mode enabled. It has a jack connector wich I love on a phone, supports eSIM wich I use. Dual speaker for the loud music if headphones not enough.

However there are problems with the phone:

                      -Apps randomly crashing
-Home screen crashing and loading takes seconds
                      -Lags on HyperOS a lot
                      -Auto brightness not working always
-Poor game performance on bigger games

Still it's a very good phone for it's price but if you can you should definitely go with the pro+ version because it has a better and stronger CPU/GPU combo.

Anonymous, 21 Apr 2024S23 FE is actually a bit wider than Nothing Phone 2a, so no... moreThe S23 FE i got is the Exynos 2200 version because of where i live; Yes i cna get the Snapdragon version but that's only for North America and it has similar heating/performance issues. But i'm not about performance or benchmarks. I'm mostly after the size, cameras and just normal everyday tasks.
We are in a phase wherein companies are shoving bigger/taller/wider phones down our throat and there is nothing we can do about it apart from telling them companies that we don't like phones that are getting bigger/taller/wider each year and i highly doubt if they will ever listen but that's all we can do right now. Even Sony is ditching their iconic screen ratio in favour of a wider body. That's at least what the rumours are telling us.

Anonymous, 17 Apr 2024Can you tell me all about this phone from your experience? ... moreThe Redmi you say? Well, in the good side I like the overall design. The screen and all that stuff, it is pretty good looking and I've received a lot of compliments the times I've had it without a case.
I've found the performance to be good. I don't game here but for regular day to day usage it has everything you could need. Battery life is also better than expected, I've never ran out of juice in a single day. I hammered it hard today after an overnight charge, and still have 31 percent while I'm writing this at 11:30 PM. Main camera is very good, solid shots all around.

In the bad side I'd say, software is still unpolished. I actually tried hyperos and had to go the bootloader unlocking route to get back to miui. It felt like a beta version.
Video stabilization isn't great either. Lots of wobbling and focus hunting. Specially in 4k video. Ultrawide isn't comparable to main cam, and macro is a joke.

Anonymous, 21 Apr 2024S23 FE is actually a bit wider than Nothing Phone 2a, so no... moreThe ability to use it with one hand is just a silly "advantage" compared to the disadvantage of using a microscopic keyboard and having to scroll and zoom like mad.
And typing with one hand is already possible with a big screen anyway (Opening notifications with a gesture or a shortcut too). So yes, most people naturally don't feel the need to be able to reach the top end of the screen with one hand.

Gino76ph, 20 Apr 2024I've recently purchased a Galaxy S23 FE for its price ... moreS23 FE is actually a bit wider than Nothing Phone 2a, so not compact enough for me. But, hey. We live in a world where people love big screens and hate ones that can be used single-handedly. I just hope that, you didn't get s23 fe exynos, it's not worth the asking price at all. My mother had it and overheated like crap while just doing daily tasks. She wanted something similar sized, but now she has S23+ (Snapdragon) and it's actually insane. The battery backup, build quality, the display, chipsey performance... just almost everything about it is perfect. Almost perfect I say, because still too big for me. I would prefer personally to get S23 base, even if it means worse battery, just to give in to the compact market a bit. Otherwise, who knows, we might be losing the base size flagship somewhere in the future with how things are going today, haha... yeah.

I'm still finding it a bit wide but in time I may get used to the size compared to the behemoth Nothing Phone 2a.
I just wish more companies would still make smaller, more compact sized phones. I still think 6.2"- 6.4" is the absolute goldilocks sweet spot.
A 6.5" or bigger screen phone is just too big and too tall for me now.
