My only problem with Redmi Note 8 Gingko is the VoWiFi function. It does not turn on automatically when connected to a wifi if cellular is not available. It does not have a modem test tool or .MBN app in the system. Currently I'm in MIUI 12.5.2 I don't know if the previous MIUI versions have tools to configure VoWiFi system configuration. Could anyone tell me?

I bought my Redmi Note 8 with global ROM on March 2020. in 4 months Xiaomi gave 3 updates. I updated my phone every time and I haven't any problem but after the third update, the battery consumption increased drastically. Imagine a new phone having such a problem just after 4 months. 3 months later, I changed the ROM and the battery consumption improved, but it was not the same as before. After a year and a half, the phone was slow and I did a factory reset, and right after the factory reset, the battery consumption increased and everything I did, even changing the ROM, did not fix it. miui has problems with battery consumption after the update on most of its phones. Even on the 12T series, the battery consumption was high after update. Now, after four years, I am thinking of a new phone and according to my experience and other users even on flagship killer phones of Xiaomi, I will not buy Xiaomi again even with HyperOS and my next phone will be one of the brands Realme, Oppo, Vivo or OnePlus. Goodbye Xiaomi

AaronTechnic, 01 Feb 2024Hey I have this phone and I've been experiencing some ... moreYeah I agree, not a fan of the huge sized screens either.
Since I strictly want it for the camera and potentially audio recording I think I might go for a refurbished xiaomi mi 10 pro, since it's excellent in both departments, and 80% health battery isn't a major concern. 6.67" screen though!
A54 looks decent for £240ish new. In hindsight redmi note 8 has been great for the price

As for me the Redmi Note 13 looks good, but they're like 6.7 inches in size these days, much bigger compared to the 6.3 inch Note 8. Overall finding a proper sized budget phone is hard. Currently the Samsung Galaxy A54 (or A55 if it releases this year) looks like the best option but it is about 400 pounds.

I don't keep up with technology much anymore, what's the best phone to upgrade to from this for ~£150 with a decent camera?
Had this for 4 years and it's becoming pretty unreliable and glitchy. I bought a DOOGEE N50 pro for £150 and sent it back straight away. Screen is low res and shit, and the camera was also significantly worse. That 20g ram didn't actually translate to a better performing phone. Feel like there's loads of budget phones just tryna squeeze out big number: 50mp OCTA CAMERA WITH 6 GAZILLION GIGS OF RAM. cool. still a worse phone in all aspects than a 5 year old phone that cost the same money at release?
Really confused with the current state of budget phones, any recommendations are appreciated. Nice camera is all I care for tbh

When I first bought the Redmi Note 8 it was great until a few months ago when it started telling me my storage is almost full. I've deleted almost every single thing on it and it still keeps saying the same thing. I don't have music on my phone anymore, I have less than 800 pictures currently and barely have any apps because I deleted them all and it still says my storage is full. It was a great phone when I bought it but I would never recommend anyone to buy one because of the storage issues I am personally having with it.

I really don't know how to choose a cellphone, this is my graduation gift. so I choose this because of my friend's suggestion, because I dont use it for gaming or photo, so just need the basic for comunnication.
i used this phone since 2020. after 1.5 years of use without problem, it started asking to restart for no reason. After 2.5 years of use, its always ask to turn off for 1-2 hour, If I forget, my cellphone will error at important times, such as the camera goes blank, error volume power or heat.
but overall I am satisfied. After using it for more than 3 years, the camera is still good, there is no decrease in battery power, the charger is still good, the body still good (I can't count how many times I dropped my cellphone). the error that occurs is because I don't know how to take care for my cellphone.
cause now i work, i start thinking to change my phone but i dont know what type to choose.

pane, 04 Nov 2023a fast charger charges the battery faster, but it degrades ... moreand of course draining the battery until the phone is turned off is the biggest damage to the battery, it's not good even when you charge it up to 100% it's harmful, that's why it's best when it works in between, at least 25~30% to 80% max 89% (below 25% and above 89% is shortened 1 cycle and each battery has a certain number of discharge and charge cycles, so when the cycles are used up, the battery starts to lag. ) on this way battery lasts less during the day, but the life of the battery is extended , my battery after 5 years still works well and will surely be good for a few more years.

a fast charger charges the battery faster, but it degrades even faster and the battery life is short, so a regular charger is better

Jonno, 29 Nov 2022I'm having the same issue where the phone restarts ran... moreI have the same problem, I solved that problem by bringing it to the service center for a battery replacement. I believe that it is because of me using a much faster charger, around 18 watts. I think the battery voltage increases when you used it with a faster charger than the included one.
