actually Ive just learnt all that in the sanfransisco uk site...but I havd to get orange unlimited if Im to download those large files.. which is the best custom rom to instal,,, I have seen swedish snow, cynanogen 7.0 and also 7.1 .are there others?

can we start with what is clockword.how do I instal it. and whats the use of having a backup of the stock rom.is it to prevent bricking your phone?

i'll assume you've installed clockworkmod recovery and have managed to back up your stock rom or any other rom to the SD card..this is for gen 1 blades that came with stock eclair..if yours came with a stock froyo then its most probably a gen 2 and hence these instructions are not for you..just download Mr.pigfish if you are not sure..
make any backups of the apps using titanium or root uninstaller..also backup your contacts..
ok now download the converter..

there are two of them..you can choose either of the two..depending on the partition layout you want...you can also find another converter in the cyanogen site..
download it..unzip it..use your file manager to unzip e.g es file manager
an image folder will appear..make sure that image folder is in the root of the SD card I.e not in any folder..
assuming you've downloaded cyanogen 7.1..its a zip file..do not unzip it..place the cyanogen 7.1 in the root of the SD card I.e not in any folder..also you can download the google apps..for legal reasons cyanogen provides the the google apps in a different package( download the google apps from the cyanogen site)..place that package in the root of the SD card..do not unzip it..
power off your device..wait for a few seconds..
hold the menu key and vol+ key then power on(..all 3 keys now pressed simultaneously)..you should see some green text..that means its flashing the gen 2 firmware..once its finished it'll boot into clockworkmod
wipe the factory settings and data,dalvik cache..I didn't wipe the partition layout..
now to install the rom
1.Highlight Install zip from
sdcard and press the Home
button .
2.Highlight choose zip from
sdcard and press the Home
button .
3.Highlight the zip file you copied to
your phone and press the Home
button .
4.Highlight Yes - Install . and
press the Home button .
do not reboot first so that you install the google apps..repeat step 1 to 4 for the google apps..
then reboot..the first reboot should take some time so be patient..

tez, 06 Feb 2012my phone hasa poor sound quality with any earphones...is th... moretez..blade + stock rom(eclair)= not a good experience
blade + custom rom(e.g cyanogen 7.1)= an awesome experience..
the stock rom makes the phone so slow even typing fast is a problem..the music player hangs a lot and skips when you are launching other apps...
plus you get tons of new features with custom roms..for now you can try poweramp or mixzing or winamp pro which have tons of features..cyanogen has a DSP manager which helps you 'manage' the sound..
but you should upgrade..

yyz, 04 Feb 2012hey i live in nairobi can anyone tell me where to go and up... morewhy should you take it to someone else when you can do it yourself..follow that post or join the facebook page and I'll give you the instructions..I don't know of anyone who upgrades in Nairobi..but if you can come over at Kenyatta university I can upgrade it for you for free..

or just search google 'gen 1 to gen 2 tpt upgrade' and click on the XDA link..first read then we can start from where you don't understand..
join the zte blade Facebook page..I think that's the best place to answer your questions..
also you download some of those files listed on that website ESP the converter file(the 16.3mb one)
download cyanogen 7.1 from
http://www.wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Latest_Version
use the mirror site...so make sure you have the converter + cyanogen 7.1
and your blade must a European one and came with stock eclair..

you can improve games playback by downloading chainfire pro..install the plugins and set the nvidia or powervr plugin for that particular game..its not guaranteed to work but it doesn't hurt in trying..play around with the settings..
download the full version of chainfire pro + plugins for free from

I recently upgraded to cyanogenmode 7.1 and its doing really fine am loving the music player its really awesome with a good set of earphones.
